Karrin says, "Ok, then! Let's get going."
Karrin says, "OOC Chat Rules:
- Approach each topic with the mindset that each person is doing the best they can with the
knowledge they have, staff and player alike.
- Please avoid topics around current events. Nothing should be revealed in an OOC meeting that
others would prefer to find out in game ICly.
- This is not the correct forum for criticism of a specific player or a topic centered around one
player. If there are concerns about a specific player, or specific policy violations, please address
that with staff privately."
Karrin wonders, "Ok! So, how was RP this week?"
Taxius says, "It was good. We had a pleasant Council meeting. XD"
InvestSouthside states, "I feel like ive had a few weeks of fairly busy rp, so pretty good. Slayed a
good handful of gators this week."
Karrin questions, "Oh, are they not usually pleasant?"
Valora states, "It's been a really good weak. Nice variety of scenes."
Taxius states, "Usually they are a bit long. I am used to six hour councils, but this time it was
only three. Nice and concise. XD"
Meiari finishes abruptly, "I enjoyed myself a lot - some stresses aside lol"
Karrin claims, "Stress can come naturally, for good or for bad."
Temi says, "Hopefully the gators did not coincide with the council meeting."
Faith claims, "Good. I've only RPd today mostly I think."
Valora trails off, "Six hours... I might step down if that becomes a norm..."
Karrin says, "It was common some time back, but more recent seneschals have cut that down, as far as
I can tell. From the last few years."
Karrin asks, "Alright, so any topics on anyone's minds?"
Capitalism declares, "Back in my day we had 16 hour council meetings! And we liked it!"
(visnet) Player Kahurangi: Here for the meeting-
Karrin has transferred Scarry. [OOC]
Temi gives a lotion jar shaped as a cupcake impersonating a strawberry to Scarry.
Karrin states to Scarry, "We just asked for a pulse on the RP this week, and asked if there are any
topics."
HIEROPHANT says, "At that point, I feel like my shenanigans are a mercy."
Meiari claims, "Alright Gramps, back to the telly with you."
Temi claims, "We are completely in support of Seneschals getting things to the right size for what
people enjoy."
Temi grins.
Scarry states, "I feel like there is a deep, deep irony to me getting lotion."
Karrin says, "I do remember a time when Seneschal meetings were more nap time than interaction time.
Things certainly do seem have shifted in a good way."
InvestSouthside says, "I think Lox might actually take up copious amounts of drugs to deal with 16hr
meetings"
Taxius states, "I disagree on the gator part, temi. It would have added some needed action. XD"
Karrin states, "So, no topics today? If anyone thinks of anything while we're talking, feel free to
let me know."
Karrin claims to Temi, "I'll let you start this week."
Scarry states, "I am sure the Madison is glad to prescribe medical crystal meth given proper
financial incentive. "
Temi says, "Alrighty! Getting stuff ready for the little party event today, and other than that
mostly keeping normal plots and requests and things."
Temi states, "Not much besides that."
Temi ponders.
Temi nods at Karrin.
Karrin nods.
Karrin declares, "I have been working on mostly behind the scenes stuff, still. Talking about a
possible header plot, though it still needs some kinks worked out of it. And doing some
administarial type whatsamawhozit stuff for staff, in general, documentation adjustments, yadda
yadda. (And you guys thought I was just balancing the code and player side... ha!)"
Valora says, "That sounds wild... I do not envy that."
Karrin states, "It's something I don't mind so much. Glutton for punishment, I suppose."
Meiari finishes abruptly, "Administrative work is never appreciated enough - thank you for doing the
thing no one wants to do lol"
Karrin says, "We won't ask Temi if I'm any good at it. Might end up hurting my feelings. But, I'm
practicing driving the other staff members bonkers, yes."
HIEROPHANT states, "Karrin has been hard at work answering all my dubious questions about things
nobody bothers thinking about besides me."
Karrin says, "Ok! I didn't have any registered topics. Unless someone has something, might be one of
the shortest meetings on record."
HIEROPHANT claims, "Well, I do have one small conversation starter."
Karrin chuckles.
Karrin defers to HIEROPHANT.
Taxius claims, "I have one too."
Karrin claims, "Alrighty."
Karrin claims to HIEROPHANT, "Can't take the whole meeting now, my dude."
HIEROPHANT wonders, "At risk of putting folks on the spot (sorry!), we have a fair few new folks
lately, including in this very meeting!
Whether it's a returning player or someone brand-new, I'd like to ask: What's the chargen process
and first few hours on grid been like for y'all? What things were confusing? What things stood out
as weird or nonsensical? Where were the helpfiles lacking? Similarly (and you don't have to name
names), were people friendly and supportive? Did you find someone to answer your questions? How's
the new-character/new-player reception been for you overall?"
Temi states, "A good question. Feel free to take any part of it that you guys have thoughts on."
Temi grins.
Karrin bounces.
HIEROPHANT says, "If it's not something you're necessarily comfy sharing in the whole meeting chat,
send a staffer a tell if that's easier. "
Tsabrienne states, "Returning player here! My only gripe as far as helpfiles is that the Tubori do
not have an Education helpfile like the other races, heh."
Temi declaims, "Well, that's just because they have no education... I mean, that would help to have
a typo note about the lack!"
Karrin claims to Temi, "Bad Temi. Be nice."
HIEROPHANT pontificates, "There is a help Tubori Dock Lanterns helpfile, but not an eduction one.
How strange!"
Karrin states, "Very likely an unintended oversight. But easily remedied."
Temi nods in agreement.
Karrin claims, "Admittedly, I never looked for a Tubori education file."
HIEROPHANT pontificates, "In any case, it's a reasonable assumption that a normal education is
available in each of the major Duchies for facilitating whatever sort of character you're looking to
sculpt from the ether. If you feel inspired, feel free to submit the helpfile yourself!"
Karrin states, "Don't ask Heirophant to do it. It'll be a whole book."
Temi grins.
Temi claims, "That is a risk."
Capitalism wonders, "That's not true... It'll be a collection of books. Though they'll be super
informative and useful so is it really a bad thing?"
Karrin says, "Alrighty, I'll go ahead and move forward. If anyone does find any difficulties, please
do let us know. Anything within reason, we are willing to adjust."
Karrin states to HIEROPHANT, "Thank you, very nice question."
Karrin wonders to Taxius, "You had something, also?"
Scarry states, "As a returning player myself, what I kind of struggled with is the downturn of
players in general. There aren't as many as before. This made the game somewhat more opaque to
return to as well, because of just natural sociological dynamics of small in-groups."
Karrin states to Scarry, "We had a tough summer. And last year. Things seem to be picking up,
though, so I'll keep my head held high and hopeful."
Temi states, "Definitely something we would like to see turning back up, and we're open to ideas for
it."
Karrin nods in agreement with Temi.
Scarry says, "It wasn't meant as critique. More of an observation. I don't blame people for being
this way - it's just human."
Karrin says to Capitalism, "And to answer your question about Heirophants submissions - nah, they're
all great. I was only teasing."
Taxius says, "I would like to discuss the teach command. Sometimes I am trying to teach and it's
inconvenient at times that one can not eat, hand over items and other things while teaching. It feel
sort of clunky at times and I wanted to hear other peoples experience with it. It could just be me."
HIEROPHANT states, "I feel so seen."
Temi claims, "It's... pretty awful."
HIEROPHANT claims, "Oh! I love the teach command, as it's critical to what I do.
I hate how it works, though! I wish I could move around, take inventory actions, display props as
part of an explanation, or any other non-threaded task while teaching."
Karrin says, "I imagine all of the limitations put into the teach command were done so with reason,
I am just not privy to what those reasons are. I am not a fan of them, personally. It is absolutely
very limiting, you have to be like... in the position you want to be in for the whole session, and
just settle."
Capitalism states, "There have been times in the past that I was trying to teach someone
blacksmithing while I was doing some work and I kept having to teach between crafts which got super
spammy."
Temi says, "Oh yeah, no issues with the idea of teaching, but it's not well implemented, and is
something we've talked about improving too."
Karrin nods in agreement with Temi.
Temi claims, "Though no current plans given everything else"
Karrin says, "We have some other things that are higher priority, but rest assured, we also hate
it."
Valora nods.
Temi states, "If you do have good ideas for an implementation, we could be open to that"
HIEROPHANT states, "It's a very powerful tool! It's just awkward to use, yeah."
Taxius claims, "I think what I dislike the most at times is that if you want to do the craft show
command to see what things are made of to teach adequately, then you can't. Because code things you
are trying to craft. this sort of interaction overlaps at other times too, but I don't remember the
exact situations. It's been a while, but I wanted to bring it up. XD"
Karrin states, "Yes, indeed. I know the ideas board is getting a bit beefy, you guys can see that by
the post number even if not all of them are public. But, I do occasionally go through them and move
a few things over. We've just had staff's lives lately, all of them, a little upside down. So we're
working on things as we can, a little slower than usual, but still trudging through."
Karrin nods in agreement with Taxius.
Temi states, "Yeah, stopping actually doing something is a bit awkward, though we don't really want
people just teaching alongside regular rp that's not about teaching."
Karrin claims, "I do not like that you can't interact with the crafting system whatsoever during
teaching. I used to have to prepare (sort of) by looking up all of the crafts we would talk about
ahead of time, so we could talk about the mats needed."
Karrin questions, "Alright! Any further about that or any additional topics?"
Taxius claims, "Yeah. exactly that. Or for example we had a teaching scene, where we got interrupted
by another player coming in and just dropping an item of to the student player. And the teach code
didn't alert the student, but dropped them out of listening to the lesson for having an item be
shoved into their hands. It took a while until we noticed."
Temi claims, "Erf"
Faith asks, "Is listen added to the prompt? by default? maybe it should be?"
Karrin states, "It's not, but you get frequent teach spam that you are listening as you go."
Karrin claims, "It is probably something we could add to the prompt polca, we'd just need an idea
board for that."
Faith states, "I think the prompt would be more informative, less spammy, and more immediate. But
that sounds like only a small part of the greater teach issue"
Karrin states, "Agree, the entire system probably needs an overhaul."
Temi claims, "Might be a little too frequent as they are, really. And noticing you're not being
annoyed is not really a great signal things stopped"
Temi grins.
Karrin states, "Well, if there's nothing else, I'll boot you all right on back to the grid so those
of you who would like to can go wish the queen a pleasant birthday."
Faith declares, "Me first!"
Valora declaims, "Woodle!"
Temi states, "Yep, party at the palace after this"
InvestSouthside claims, "Whelp time to burn down the town"
HIEROPHANT states, "Time for nothing to happen whatsoever"
Faith gets a tamborine and booze
Meiari wibbles.
InvestSouthside starts rolling the barrels of firebreather down the street
Karrin chuckles.
Karrin states, "Alright, you all go have a ton of fun."
Karrin waves.
