The word "muggle" put thoughts towards magic.
As far as handcuffs and cells, the bad guys have similar options to the good guys. Any advantages in that regard would work both ways, and the law really doesn't need any more of a leg up than they already have.

Re: "Slippery" Bad Guys
There are problems with implementing that sort of thing in a game. Namely, you are interfering with player autonomy in a big way. There is a limit to the extent any given player is willing to go along with having their freedom to play the game stripped from them. It is important to remember that the...

Re: "Slippery" Bad Guys
I think, perhaps, you read more emotion than is present. If you are going to seriously propose changes to make certain characters more slippery, then I have to tell you what I'm dealing with when I use these mechanics. While making characters more slippery is a change that could stand to happen, it ...

Re: "Slippery" Bad Guys
It's reassuring, at this point, to see that there's as much support for sneakies coming from the law as there is from the sneakies. Given the current state of the game's mechanics, a sneaky absolutely requires the players of the law to be on board with the idea that the bad guys can and will do stuf...

Re: Balance: Knights vs Mages
Every day I've logged in since Sekunder was executed, I've asked myself the same question: "Why is the Brotherhood empty?" I've gotten some explanations from Kinaed, about previous in-game occurrences. Gavin played a smooth masterstroke and shut them down, but that's not the reason why the Brotherho...

Re: New Player Survey pt. 2
On the subject of NPCs distracting one's attention, I would bring up the following point: Role-playing games are a social hobby. It is interactive storytelling, and one of the big draws is interacting with other people. It is a shared endeavor. You mention the use of NPCs as props, and that's all we...

Re: New Player Survey pt. 2
Okay, so apparently I lied and hadn't said my peace. Actually, there are a few things that popped up which I'd like to clarify. Also, it's wild how many people do exactly what Yayinne says in #2 of her statement - stand up in a crowded bar and bow and 'my lady' the heck out of a noble entering who w...

Re: New Player Survey pt. 2
I offered my perception from a new player, reading and interpreting those documents as a new player. You make of that what you will. It's not a criticism of the nobles themselves, they've thus far been very pleasant and reasonable people. I just want to point out that, at the time I was first readin...

Re: New Player Survey pt. 2
As I indicated earlier, there is a possibility that the current character generation process may be the optimal model. However, some of the staff's time could be saved by having a notification about checking skills before distributing one's attribute points. The information is already there. It's ve...

New Player Survey pt. 2
I was asked about providing feedback on the game from a new player perspective. I reported a generally positive experience, but had fairly little to offer at the time when asked the, "What could we do better?" question. This post is a follow-up to that conversation, now that I've had some time to mu...
