Re: The Queen of Theme?
I think you nailed it, Geras. So long as racism doesn't effect advancement, power, or v/npc reaction to PCs, it's awesome. But sadly I just got slammed by RL, so I'm not going to able to play Bernart (or Elon), so expect the in-game racism to simmer down a bit in any case. (I tried to post a goodbye...

Re: The Queen of Theme?
I see no reason why any player is obliged to play the racist theme. That is not our job. Our job is playing characters. Staff's job (and that of the Monarch, according to the helpfile) is playing theme. I never suggested that any GL should 'fix' other people's RP shortcomings. I don't see any RP sho...

Re: PROPOSED Help Policy Arrest Guidelines
I'd love if Reeves needed warrant to put someone in jail , which always feels like an ooc punishment for ic fun, but could throw anyone they wanted (well, not nobles) into the stocks for any reason at all. So if Reeves don't want the hassle of a warrant, they use stocks. Stocks are underused. I love...

Re: The Queen of Theme?
I think the options are: One: rewrite the helpfile, so it reflects the world. Dice nailed that. Probably the most sensible option. Two: the staff enforces theme via 'approvals' or playing vnpcs/NPCs. I guess this would turn into a nightmare of accusations of favoritism, though. Two-and-a-half: Just ...

Re: The Queen of Theme?
If a PC is afraid to talk smack in public , that's not a xenophobic society. If there are political realities that Vandagan or Vavardi, say, are so powerful that they must be treated with respect, that's a great motivation for Lithmorran PCs to remove that power. And the fact that intermarriage is t...

The Queen of Theme?
(Playing a monarch looks awful to me. I wouldn't do it on a bet. So anyone who does it, and sticks with it, is a hero in my book. And I adore most PCs that my PC despises. So I hope none of this comes across like a complaint about anyone's RP.) I tend to think that theme-enforcement is the staff's j...

Re: How I got a Log, and What It Made Me think
I didn't see any of this, and I know neither oocly or icly what happened, except for a OOC exchanges on OOC. That said, I don't think staff can fault players for this: "That's a stupid opinion because the theme really works the way I say it does!" If there's confusion or disagreement about theme, th...

Re: Bonus Xp in Chargen Dependent on Age
Well, I recognize that this is something that only appeals to me ! I guess I don't see the problem with offering it as an option , though. (Other than the coding.) "If you play a PC who is over 35, you have the option of getting ##### of xp here in chargen, in exchange for learning new skill at 25% ...

Re: Bonus Xp in Chargen Dependent on Age
What if there is a trade-off, in chargen, between age and potential? I'd get a huge amount of extra xp to create a guy who is actually 37: he's skilled like an ic 37-year-old would be. He's better than all the 22-year-olds. The catch is this: he doesn't get better. However good he is, that's it. He ...
