Re: Cloaks and Innkeepers/Merchants
There are plenty of reasons to buy an inn room with your cloak up other than "I am a mage doing mage things, please give me a key so I may perform magery." And if it was that easy to permanently dump a metric in the shitter, Piety would already be there.

Re: Mage v Knight Balance, Revisited
If mage is chosen, the mage channel is available in chargen - they don't have to be on grid. How many mages made mage friends - enough to have a complete understanding of what each element is capable of - within their first 75 hours? How many mages right now would have chosen their element differen...

Re: [Poll] Alternative to seeking?
Isn't there already a system in place like auto-promote? I'm pretty sure you, as a GL, need to give a monthly reason why you haven't promoted someone to an open slot... I have no personal experience with this though, only second hand. Being part of a guild gives your character legitimacy in the worl...

Re: Mage v Knight Balance, Revisited
Doing it on-grid is in some regards too late. A brand new player is asked what element they want to be. Without OOC knowledge, this is an entirely arbitrary decision - there's no indication what each element is capable of, and in fact, many of the spells are completely counter-intuitive. Example: Yo...

Re: Mage v Knight Balance, Revisited
I do think the OOC opaqueness is unfair to new mages but I don’t think it’s fair to pin that on Lans. Apologies, I didn't meant to say BAD LANS, YOU'RE THE REASON MAGES AREN'T PLAYED , my opposition is entirely focused on the idea that mechanical knowledge should be kept out of the hands of new pla...

Re: Mage v Knight Balance, Revisited
It ruins the mystery, both on an IC and OOC level. Consider your position - you're an old player, there's likely not much you don't know about magic in this game. There is no OOC mystery for you, and therefore it's very hard to roleplay any IC mystery. The only players therefore WITH ooc mystery ab...

Re: Mage v Knight Balance, Revisited
I don't think making people choose between a mundane guild and a mage guild is a good idea - that's making people choose between mageRP and normal RP. Same problem the Brotherhood has right now - anyone not in a guild is immediately suspicious, when they should be able to use legitimate guilds as a ...

Re: Proposal - Mage Sanctuary
The issue we have here is that going in/out of the sanctuary places you at risk of being tracked and outed as a mage. Considering how established the Order players are, the sanctuary will be found on-grid pretty immediately, and all traffic in and out will be tracked to the source and the visitors b...

Re: Mage v Knight Balance, Revisited
Track is a little silly - you can isolate once set off footprints on a dirt path that sees thousands of pedestrians every day? Lithmore is the capital - that you can follow someone reliably along the major roads is ridiculous. Side streets MAYBE, but not main roads. There's two issues that make play...

Re: Inactive in RP
Cortical, thank you for your input, you've made me put more thought in to what I believed was a simple issue. Where you lose me is that nobody is punished for short two-minute posts, nobody is arguing in favour of a minimum post length/time limit, and those that want to do so after the change could ...
