Re: Combat, OOC Info, Helpfiles
I want to note that I didn't read anyone else's posts here really. I just want to say that I think it would be nice if both defenses could be set against certain opponents(which was previously suggested in this thread) but also against various weapons held by a single person. Right now, dual wieldin...

Re: Balance: Knights vs Mages
"But no Jei, they don't have an edge over knights/reeves of equal skill and equipment. Some with 75/75 for magic skills and 75/75 for combat skills has spent twice the XP as someone with only 75/75 combat. That's not equal skill." - geras When I say a mage with equal combat skills plus magic, I do m...

Re: Balance: Knights vs Mages
"Jei, You raise fair points. I guess my response is that it seems silly (and disappointing) for the most important skill to mages and thieves to me combat ones, and their most important possessions being armour. Suppose both thief guildskills and mage spells/abilities suffer penalties if the mage or...

"But sure, if there are skills that they might have that makes sense then sure, lets bring that to the table too. I've no problem with that. Or any other role.. but that wasn't what this particular thread was started for. If you would like to make one to discuss those, go ahead."-Julea The title of ...

Re: Balance: Knights vs Mages
Knights - heavy armour, hit hard, combative. Slow. This is all very easy to represent codely and is pretty much all in game. No RPA needed. All of these are things ANYONE can have in game. Knights have zero guild exclusive abilities. Even 'sword' is shared with nobility, and it's just another weapon...

Re: Balance: Knights vs Mages
Why, exactly? Knights don't get backstab, knights don't get magic. Kinda sounds like Knights are getting the shaft here, since anyone can have armor and anyone can uber out their combat stats. How about we start balancing Knights with anti-magic stuff? =)

Re: Bad Guy Incentives
For the record, I don't resent, OOCly, people who play bad guys. I do resent the notion that we need to go above and beyond to reward them for choosing a certain player concept. There aren't just 'good' and 'bad' people on this game, there are a lot of in betweens and honestly, I wouldn't want a vil...

Re: Balance: Knights vs Mages
No, it isn't hard at all to catch up. In fact, it's kind of alarming to me how quickly people can catch up, especially if we start waiving death xp for baddies. (Nevermind skill caps, how about the fact that they'll probably be using that xp to uber-bolt their stats?) Eh.. oh well.

Re: Bad Guy Incentives
Seriously are we doing this? And the good guys have it good? By your own admission, Kinaed, a combat+mage character not only is on a level playing field with a plain knight/reeve/whatever, but actually has an edge because they have magic. We now have to shower them with QP and extra XP as well? Dude...

Re: Resurrection
How about... no? This is the most insane idea I've ever heard. Mages already have a spell to bring corpses to life. That's plenty. Unless the staff and pbase is prepared to accept that the game is no longer permadeath, which I absolutely am not, resurrection would be an insane addition. It changes t...
