Arendas morning of Januarius dawned foggy. There was commotion about
the western gate as an armed caravan was let through, bearing papers from
Duke Cameron de Monford II and Cardinal Lilith de Poniard of Farin.
Knights and Inquisitors made up the majority of the group, reportedly sent
by the Duke and Cardinal to retrieve the Daravi and escort them back to
Farin so that they might see to their 'crimes' whatever they might be.
That evening, a young man took to Church Square, vehemently protesting the
treatment of the Edessan refugees.
"These scared, faithful servants of Dav came to us - fleeing the oppressive
hand of their supposed 'kin' in the Southern Wastes. They came to -us-,
having been turned away on the same paranoid unkindness that now has us
putting a spiked wall around their camp and cutting off their access to
both physicians and proper priests!
I have seen these refugees with my own eyes, my brothers and sisters, and
doing so has made me shed tears! These are not the heretical monsters that
the Knights fend away on the border - these are mothers, fathers - children
and elderly - who need our help! Who only want to serve Dav, and the Lord!
Who are we but heathens to turn them away, to not allow them an insight
into Celeste's great mercy? What would the patron saint of generosity and
kindness think of us, seeing what our paranoia has wrought? You can smell
the stench of decay a league away from that camp - and it makes sinners of
us all! Shame, shame, shame on all good Davites who would treat the
faithful such!"
Unfortunately, his speech was cut to shortness when Alabaster de Morin,
head Inquisitor of the Farin delegation, had him publicly flogged. Since
then, the dissenting protester has not been seen on the streets. Rumor has
it that the Farin Delegation took him and plans to send him back home with
the Daravi to face punishment.
Alabaster de Morin and co. Have quickly set up their operations amongst
the Farin Quarter.

As part of the Wine Festival, a fairy tale themed ball will be held at the
palace during the height of the holiday around Martius 28, 365. Every
citizen of the realm is welcome to attend, and several events are planned,
including:
A story telling contest with a reward of five gold coins to the best story
as decided by the audience.
A game of truth and lies to determine who in the city can best see through
lies and determine who spoke the truths. Are -you- the best in the realm?
Come try your luck and skill, but remember that the penalty for arrogance
will be a turn at one's own wine cup.
Auctioning off of dances. All those willing to volunteer and be auctioned
off are requested to contact Lady Shasa le Dumitru to announce their
intention.
Proceeds will go to assisting victims of the plague and for much-needed
infrastructure repairs.
OOC note: The ball will take place Sunday, March 1 at 5 pm system time/
EST.
Update:
Those planning to participate in the story telling contest are requested to
contact Shasa le Dumitru to advise her of this and are requested to keep
stories to a relatively brief nature of perhaps ten to fifteen minutes.

In the last week, Reeves and Inquisitors are said to have been closely
interviewing each of the Daravi within the camp. Today, the first of those
found wanting was led to the pyre.
Lord Inquisitor Sameer de Ashimid, accompanied by Alabsater, the High
Inquisitor from Farin and a cadre of knights, emerged with a defiant Daravi
man in his mid-twenties. The Lord Inquisitor spoke, "Ladies. Gentlemen.
Thank you all for coming to bear witness today. This man, this invader to
our lands will today be cleansed so that he may face the mercy of the Lord
of the Springs and his sins wiped clear from his soul. He is a heretic,
and his actions in Farin have seen him not only stab a priest but attempted
to intervene to stop a rightfully determined cleansing. Nor did he remain
to face the rightful justice for these actions, but instead took the
coward's path in fleeing. Further, he has knowingly travelled with a witch
that was a part of the Daravi group- and did not come forward with this
information or take action against it except to save his own skin- but at
the cost of his soul. He has thus proven himself to be a dangerous man and
a clear heretic for whom there is no hope for salvation in this Urthly
realm- may he find peace with the Lord of the Springs." With that, a brief
prayer was read and Razzik the Daravi Toymaker was taken to the pyre and
promptly burned.

Dark whispers have started circling schools, streets and the minds of
sleeping children alike. Many have reported to dream of a middle-aged man
wearing a dark, musky cloak wrapped in chains and laughing, behind him
being the visage of a large oaken wheel with a sharp-toothed, clawed beast
and a muscled stallion in a struggle carved into it. A darkness begins to
loom in the underbelly of the city, as anyone who might have had a similar
dream would awake with the same phrase echoing through their minds for only
the briefest moment. "Bring me Damian von Black."
OOC note: This STP will include a conflict between a powerful demon and the
players. It would be most logical for fighters to take part. To those who
wouldn't mind having a PC brutally killed, you are more than welcome to
join. Encouraged, even! It will take place between 3 - 5 PM server time
on Sunday - 22 February, should we have enough players - so keep an eye
out!

Rumor spreads from the Daravi camp and quickly becomes fact, spat from
the lips of the town criers: several of the Daravi's dead were exhumed, to
be placed in the Davite graveyard aside the Cathedral and buried with the
proper rites. A funeral procession is to accompany the Daravi, mostly
priests, orderites, and the friends/family of the dead - while a mass will
be given afterwards to commemorate those refugees who died patiently
waiting for their Review of Faith in starvation and sickness.
(Staff event: tentatively this Friday, 20th of Feb, 2pm PST onward.)
(demons, combatant and non-combatant friendly, multiple groups for less
crowded rooms and emoting comfort, graphic violence and nudity)
Rescheduled for 4-5pm PST, same day (today, 20th of Feb).

During a routine pre-burial ceremony at St. Aelwyn's Cathedral, madness
ensued. Many claim a demon attacked. Some, that a group of Daravi tried
to take the Church by force. Others, that a group of UNDEAD Daravi tried
to take the Church by force. Rumors abound of Inquisitors making love with
commoners, and Knights brokering deals with the unnatural.
What is known for sure is that after the event the bodies of the Daravi to
be buried in consecrated ground were indeed placed there... Only as ashes,
instead of corpses.
Meanwhile, the construction of a second Daravi camp by the Order has been
completed in an undisclosed location. The refugee camp is in the process
of being entirely Inquisitioned, with those found free of taint temporarily
moved to the reportedly safer (both for outsiders and insiders) camp until
their fates can be decided. The anti-Daravi group, more vocal now than
ever after whatever happened inside the Cathedral, calls for every Daravi
to be executed... By fire.

In the twilight hours of the 9th of Maritus, the members of the High
Synod and their representatives gathered in the recesses of Spring Hall to
discuss the matters before the church.
As their first act, the resignation of Grand Inquisitor Sameer de Ashimid
was accepted, the answer having been prolonged while matters with the
future of the Lithmorran Cardinalate were determined.
Their second act was that the reassignment of His Holiness Auberon mal
Halliwell was confirmed as it was revealed that he has spent the last two
months on special assignment in Vavard, investigating a case of arch-heresy
amongst one of the noble houses and two of the high merchant families. It
was deemed that his experience in such matters and with Vavardi culture was
sorely needed to continue overlooking the investigations there.
With those matters determined, a motion was put forward to decide upon the
new Cardinal of Lithmore. After much discussion a name rose to the fore:
the departing Grand Inquisitor Sameer de Ashimid. The vote was cast, and
the determination was quickly made to appoint de Ashimid, with the new
Cardinal of Lithmore enstated in full ceremony.
Taking his new seat as Cardinal, his first motion was to propose raising
the experienced Bishop-Inquisitor Jenifyr von Vakhrova to the newly vacated
seat of Grand Inquisitor. There was resounding agreement, the motion
carried and the gathering moved on to less interesting business.

Recent rumors around lithmore have begun to spread that the Earl Marshall
is unable to control her own knights.
After a minor spectacle at the Spring awakening ball, where during a heated
dance auction the grand master outbid a fellow knight and the knight in
question almost called the grand master a 'piece of shit' doubt began to
surface. Though this isn't the first incident either. Knights acting like
drunken fools in public, Disrespect for those of higher rank in and outside
of the knights, yet with no punishment given for such blatant disrespect.
Truly this is a dark time for the knights if their own leader can not
prevent them from falling into moral deprivity.
Many concerned citizens truly wonder if the dame was fit for such
leadership, or if she was merely handed the position without preparation.

At noon on the 10th of Aprilis 365, a small procession emerged from
Ahalin Tower, led by a feisty Inquisitor in the company of knights and
guards from the tower. With them was a ragged man- blackened, bruised and
moving as if dazed.
The Inquisitor read out the findings, "This man, Paulos Dissemos has been
uncovered as one of the conspirators involved in the release of the foul
and unrepentant witch, Veiss Chnee. For the sake of a pouch full of gold,
he betrayed his faith, he betrayed Lithmore and he allowed his comrades to
come under attack. For this he is marked as a heretic. The heretic does
not have the claim that the witch does, that they were born with their
taint- no, the heretic has no excuse at all. Thus, for him, is denied the
cleansing embrace of the Lord's pyre. He is instead condemned to the
traitor's death, by order of the Lord Cardinal of Lithmore."
With that, the guards- the man's former coworkers- set about the grim task
of impaling Paulos Dissimous quite viscerally on a crossguarded pike and
erecting man and pike visibly in River Square. He died before nightfall,
but it was a painful, noisy couple of hours.
The corpse remains on display- and it has since been tacked with various
strips of paper. On each paper, written in the common-born hands of the
guardsmen and women reads a single word, 'Traitor'.
A final irony is uncovered, when it is learned that the wife of Paulos left
town before he was arrested- taking the money, and the handsome young
apprentice from next door.

In the early morning hours of Aprilis 26th, residents of the capitol
city were summoned to River Square to watch the execution of the condemned:
Casimir ab Azadar. The Lady Justiciar Brynieve de Versin personally
supervised the execution, declaring her verdict regarding the recent
suspected criminal activities of the notorious man: "Casimir Aldair is
guilty of attempting to murder Count Tomas ab Jinosa; for this, and
considering his long history of violence, lack of self control, mental
instability, disrespect of lawful authority, coupled with his own
confession of still desiring to murder said victim, he will be hung by the
neck until dead.
The charge of attempted murder of Her Royal Highness Cellan ab Samael is
dismissed due to lack of reliable witness testimony and evidence of the
event that led to Her Royal Highness' fall from the castle wall on the date
of Aprilis 8 SC 365. Be it a tragic accident or attempt on Her Royal
Highness' life, that will be left to a greater judge than I to resolve."
Casimir ab Azadar's final words were:
"My home, Avonna, is more backwards border country than many of you might
realize. Where a man is free to express his sincerity by the simplest
means, and actions go much further than words. Foremost, I have tried to
live up to that sincerity and it urges me now to say that I have come to
hate most of you, if not all of you, for your lying smiles and lack of
earnest action. I was the one born into nobility, yet I have seen more
backstabbing and apathy in this city then ever I did in Court back home.
So, there's that. But to a few I am sorry. Truly, deeply sorry."
If there is anything to be said of the hanging itself; it was a swift
death. The fall proved great enough to not just break Casimir's neck, but
sever his head entire.
Shortly there after the body was buried in the Criminals' Plot. Her Holy
Honor Jenifyr von Vakhrova, Lady Earl Marshal Karrina ab Vazien, Lord Ariel
le Orban, and Counsellor Hunapo le Marama in attendance. His rapier was
interred with his remains, per his final wishes.

Brynieve's approval shifts from Approved to Loved.
In the wake of scandal rocking the palace and the subsequent murder
attempts and hanging, chaos threatened to overtake the city of Lithmore and
leave it vulnerable. However, Lady Brynieve de Versin has, as noticed by
some city leaders, provided a calm and stable guiding hand through the

begin to heal once more. Members of the nobility have offered their
support for how the Lady Justiciar carried and conducted herself through
the investigation.

Brynieve's approval shifts from Loved to Entrenched.
It has been no secret that the Reeves have been pleased with the leadership
of the Lady Justiciar Brynieve de Versin. After over a year in office,
she's established herself as one of the most straightforward and competent
leaders to have taken on the challenges inherent in the office, as well as
leading peace keeping efforts in the consistently bedeviled and troublesome
precinct of the Capitol city.
The latest case and scandal about the capitol has cemented their loyalty
and respect for the Lady, and about town comments of the like have been
overheard from Reeves of all stripes:
"She doesn't let anyone stand in the way of Justice."
"I trust her judgement over anyone else, plus the free alyras in the
council room are a nice touch."
"She's pious, too - ain't no witch, that's a nice change of pace."
"The best Justiciar since Tobin ab Samael."
"No. She's better than ab Samael."
"If any of those fancy pants noblemen from court try anything with her;
I'll make sure we have a lawsuit that they never get up from."
"I'd follow her into Daravi to arrest the Sultan if she asked me to!"

The initial camp of Daravi refugees has since been Inquisitioned,
Interrogated, and sorted appropriately - first from their fledgling
makeshift camp into a much nicer, much better guarded camp, and then into
society itself... Or darker punishments. Fires attest to what became of
the first group; River Square has become a swarm of activity as dozens of
Daravi are cleansed for their taint, and their sin. A burning happens
nearly every other night. The second group of Daravi are given physical
punishment and penance alike. Whippings, brandings, public
waterboarding... It's a gruesome display for all to see, but a much needed
disciplining of those found to be wandering... But not entirely lost.
Salvageable - with a good beating, of course
Still, many Daravi have been exported entirely; the Farin Inquisitor
Alabaster and his Knight retinue have gathered them and set off for the
Sutherlands, where the Daravi will be punished according to the Duke and
Cardinal. Contrary, on a more positive note, Daravi who proved not to be
heretical, or Daravi children, are being sent to various schools within and
without Lithmore to learn more about the Lord and His Holy Doctrine. These
Daravi, of course, haven't escaped without punishment - they are criminals
who participated in an illegal border crossing, after all, and as such the
stocks are filled with them... For a time. The Daravi are rumored to have
been taken in to swear fealty to the Queen by the Reeves. Those who did
are rehabilitated into society. Those who didn't... Well, not much is
heard about that group.
Rumor has it, a few Daravi are even learning valuable tradecrafts, and
practicing deep theology... But certainly that could only be rumor. Who
in their right mind would give a Daravi a job?
With the refugee situation seemingly wrapped up and the Farin Inquisition
leagues from Lithmore business, citizens can rest easy knowing the combined
efforts of the Lithmorran authorities (while not always cooperating
hand-in-hand...) kept them from immediate peril.
Sincerely, your Lithmorran Source of Happenings

Out of nowhere, the sky darkened - the sun being blotted out by shadows.
The stars shone and the moons glowed ever the brighter (yes, even without
the light of the sun). The Farin Quarter exploded in a miasma of
shadows... And when the shadows evaporated, the Farin quarter was sunken
miles and miles below where it used to be, covered in a layer of shadows
that devoured anything that touched it. Only Montford Square survived,
from there one might look out over the sea of darkness.
In the meantime, the veil between the demonic realm, spirit realm, or
astral (depending on your religion -- although everyone SHOULD be nice,
loving Davites) was lessened. In lack of clear distinctions between the
worlds, demons and spirits bleed into reality, even now causing havoc on
the streets of Lithmore, attacking citizens at random and in some cases
completely ignoring the laws of the world by phasing through closed doors.
Lithmore looks now to their leaders for guidance and explanation on the
why. Why, everyone screams, as the roads leading out of the city are
flooded with demons. People crowd deep into their houses, putting as many
walls and doors between themselves and the demons as they can. Nobles sip
tea and carry on, surrounded by their guards. Southsiders brawl against
the spirits openly in the streets.
(A plot header for this -is- coming, as is more information for things to
do concerning that header. Demons now have a chance of spawning in
Lithmore city. Will continue for a while, but not indefinitely.)

It's obvious; something bad has happened in Lithmore. The sun hasn't
been seen for a week now across the whole city. Other counties and duchies
haven't made any reports to confirm how widespread the total eclipse is
because most of their messengers have been eaten by the demons that now
ravage the countryside and Lithmore city proper on a normal basis.
It all started with earthquakes, and then the Farin Quarter sunk into a sea
of darkness where it still resides now. The lines between the demon plane
and this plane were blurred, and now some demons freely traverse the
border. Mage activity has skyrocketed as well, with reports of mages
gaining more power with the blurring of reality and the astral plane.
Rumor has it that it's a punishment for a lack of faith in the population
of Lithmore. Others say it's the result of a dark summoner's ritual gone
wrong. And some cite a darker reasoning; that it all might just be a bad
dream, bound to end at any moment
Whatever the truth, the facts are indisputable. The Farin Quarter is lost
underneath darkness but the spires of its tallest buildings are still
visible, which means it might be salvaged somehow if the magic holding it
were nulled. Some in the Order turn to investigating the reasoning that
mages can never cast their foul taint at River Square - already there are a
growing number of clergy who call for the mass burning of any potential
witches at Montford Square in an attempt to recreate River Square.
Meanwhile, demons on the roads have made travel all but impossible. Trade
has suffered heavily as a result, causing a rise in the prices of raw
resources as much as 20 percent over market sale. With the blotting of the
sun, crops around Lithmore are already wilting, making imports and rations
the main source of foodstuffs. All around people cry for increased patrols
along the main roads; but can this be accomplished with the center of
Lithmore city playing host to demons? If all the men-at-arms go to protect
the trade routes, who will protect the people at home?
Southside has been hit the hardest, as it is in every tragedy and crisis.
The already faltering, poverty-stricken economy has suffered under the
additional strain of rationing its already shortened foodstuffs and
providing a protection force against the spontaneous demon incursions.
All around Lithmore morale, lawfulness, and happiness are decaying - and
problems are rising perhaps faster than they can be solved. Churches fill
to overflowing with people dedicated to fasting and silent prayer, hoping
that their faith will restore the sun, and normalcy.

In the wake of the catastrophe in the Farin Quarter, chaos has quickly
run rampant. Demons in the streets, displaced survivors of the disaster
and the many, many injured people. However, the leaders of the city are
proving to be quick to act in at least some parts, though what their
efforts will produce remains to be seen. A proclamation went out within
days of the initial event from the Regents Office:
People Of Lithmore. We are in a time of Crisis. We have lost many
innocent lives to the acts of a mad mage. The Farin Quarter has been
decimated as a result of these attacks. Our food supplies are dwindling as
this magical darkness withers our crops. The coming days will not be easy,
but we as a people, united in faith in the Lord of the Springs, united as
one nation will overcome.
The refugees displaced by this attack will be moved to a camp that has
already been built outside of the city. The camp has walls and was built
during the Daravi presence recently. It is being converted in a refugee
centers and guards will be posted to help keep you safe there. You are
free to come and go, no one will be forcing anyone there, but it will be a
secure and safe place for you to stay until we have a more permanent
solution. (The merchants offer alternative housing within the upper levels
of their guildhall.)
Food is going to quickly become a problem. For that reason I charge the
Reeves to work with the Merchants guild and take charge of the food stuffs
that do remain and work on rationing them now, so that we can be prepared
for the long haul. If we begin rationing now, we will avoid greater
problems later.
Southside is suffering greatly in the wake of this disaster and help is on
the way. Lord Squire Ariel le Orban is coordinating efforts to aid
Southside during this crisis, seeing food and supplies are being sent there
to aid the people. Any who would aid in this matter, please contact him
and see what you can do.
Now is a time when we must all pull together. Any able bodied men and
women with knowledge of fighting, I call on you to report to the Reeves and
Knights to aid them in their patrols. Anyone without fighting abilities, I
encourage to volunteer at the hospital to aid them with caring for the
wounded and the displaced.
To anyone who would act against the people of Lithmore in this time of
crisis, to anyone who would take advantage of this situation to do harm,
make a quick gold, know that you will be met with the harshest of
punishments. If you are working against the people of Lithmore in their
darkest hour, you are our enemy.
There are demons who walk our streets, apparently spawned by these dark
forces. Avoid them at all cost and report their presence to the Knights
and the Order. You are not to engage them if at all possible. Coordinate
with the proper authorities.
These are trying times for us all and each are doing their part. The
troubadors have opened their doors to any who need a respite and are
providing comfort at their Theatre along with entertainment to help try and
shorten these dark days. One must nourish and protect not just the body
during times such as these, but also the mind and soul. So I encourage
during your off times to please visit both the Theatre and the Church to
see to these two other needs.
If we pull together, we will make it. We will survive this. Lord bless us
all and Lord bless Lithmore.

Clerks from the office of the Exchequer have begun to circulate
carefully, expressing sympathies to those affected by the recent attacks
and the trouble with the Farin Quarter. They take stock of those injured
and displaced, questioning to determine how many are left in need in an
impromptu census.
An official announcement from the Royal Court reassures that the court
wishes to do what it can in this time of need, and that they wish to assess
the most urgent places to focus. To this extent, the Chancellor of the
Exchequer, Marisa dul Damassande le Orban, encourages cooperation with
those taking stock, and has noted that those with dire needs can reach out
to her directly.
The Chancellor also mentions that the court is accepting donations, or
willing to work out deals, with anyone offering tallow, cotton wicks and
butter, in order to help light the darkness, or any already prepared
lighting products.

women with knowledge of fighting, I call on you to report to the Reeves and
Knights to aid them in their patrols.
