The Reeves have posted public notice requesting experienced hunters and
trackers head out to the winding trail up the mountain the morning of the
last day of Maius to help cull an aggressive, wounded grizzly bear which
has been terrorizing travellers.
Still, whispers circulate about why they need so many people to take down a
single bear...
(OOC: This kinda blew up last minute, so I've decided to open it up to
everybody - it's happening today, June 17, 8:30pm system time)

With the clean-up of the Farin Quarter more or less finished, the dead
identified and properly buried and whatever wills were available processed,
the living refugees have begun to move back into their former homes and
businesses. Much of the Quarter remains unoccupied and damaged, but life
can be seen in its streets once more.
With the resurgence in population, however, comes a troubling trend -
rumors suggest those living there are suffering from curious, horrifying
nightmares and blood and insanity. They are unpredictable, not afflicting
everyone and not coming every night, but enough have reported them that the
rumor is taking on life and force.
Whispers suggest that the Quarter is haunted by the death and destruction
that occurred there, cemented in its misery by the Cardinal's assassination
within the holy ground of its chapel itself.

Tomas's approval shifts from Approved to Loved.
While traveling through Vees, the Lady Justiciar has been visiting Reeve
offices along the way, meeting with the various magistrates that serve the
various districts outside of Lithmore. At these meetings, Reeves both
curious and cynical, have inquired about the nature of the Regency, and how
it has been to work with in Lithmore. Not only has she story of a Regent
that has worked to serve the people, and open ways for the Reeves to
provide their services, but one open to suggestions and eager to take up
good ideas presented from the Reeves.
She has correspondence that proves his constant willingness to allow the
Reeves to administer Justice without intervening, obfuscating or bedeviling
their work. He is responsive and swift to pave the way when concerns are
brought to his attention; pressing for the original evacuation of the
orphans from demon infested territory, implementing flood control ideas -
which seem to have largely worked so far as the spring comes to an end
without incident, and now providing aid in infrastructure to help clean up
and rebuild the Farin Quarter.
All this he does quietly with a stroke of a pen, and no apparent kickbacks
or pork to benefit himself or his family for the future. The Lady
Justiciar reported to her curious Magistrates that she looked hard for many
years at the nobleman, and his service, and couldn't find a Dav blessed
corrupt thing about him in regards to good governance of the Kingdom. In
fact, he seemed to be the safest and most honest nobleman in Lithmore. So
she finally gave up and married him.

It was early in the day of June 28th when the news was announced that a
new Archbishop, Kave Caern, was chosen. While the details given were few
and far between, it is clear that the appointment signals a commitment to
embrace the policies of the new Archbishop. The Archbishop has mantained a
reputation among the clergy as fair but hard, and intolerant of those who
abuse their position. One known for speaking his mind, the new Archbishop
is an interesting choice for the head of the local and most prestigious
chapter of the Holy Order of Dav.

Following a mourning period for the recently departed Cardinal ab
Roseren comes the naming of his replacement. Cardinal Agnes ab Amundelle
had served the Order in Lithmore for several decades, filling a number of
different roles before this one. A devotee of the Celestine Tradition,
however, she has expressed that she believes her place as Cardinal to be a
spiritual one which will require much prayer and reflection, and though she
expects her presence to be felt, she will be unable to be as hands-on as
some previous cardinals have chosen to be and will instead rely upon her
network of clergymen in the city to fill that role.

Late in the afternoon on Solisda, Quintilis 2, an extravagant tallship
arrived unexpectedly in the ports of Lithmore City, proudly bearing the
flag of Vandago overtop the red and green of Batarostra County's flag.
A young girl and her many attendants were seen disembarking; there was no
mistaking the Child Countess of Batarostra, Haizea von Mazina, who
inherited her title as favoured niece of the late Count Derwin von Turtor
(following his tragic passing in a ceremonial sledding accident last
winter). In proper Vandagan exorbitance, she was dressed in a traditional
diadem and fine felt greatcoat, swathed in silk and alexandrite brilliants
head to toe.
Rumours circulate of a coming of age celebration for the young Countess,
and of her desire to learn how to be a proper courtier. Lady Indra von
Mazina sent her oldest daughter travelling with her blessing, though its no
secret she harbours some bitterness that she was passed over for this
title.

Quietly, without fanfare, the notorious "Mage Killer" Thiazi Malren was
burned by Grand Inquisitor Zaerieth Silverclaw. Malren was suspected in
nearly a dozen deaths that occured in several massacres at various taverns
without Lithmore; the crime scenes were peculiarly grisly, and the killer
earned his name from screeds painted in blood on the walls that accused his
victims of all being mages.
Ironically, however, the Order declared Malren to be a mage himself at his
burning, and thus he was executed by way of the pyre.

Months after the end of the terrible darkness that consumed the Farin
Foreign Quarter, it looks unlikely that the area may ever entirely
recover.
Most of the businesses that called it home have been shuttered, and a large
portion of the individuals who moved back into the area have already left
again - citing continual nightmares of darkness and misery and odd
intrusions into their thoughts and minds.
There is considerable agreement now from the common people that the Quarter
is tainted and haunted and will never be the same. A few of the stalwart
individuals who have stayed in the face of the nightmares, however, insist
there is hope... And clamor for steps to be taken to root out the
corruption. No one, however, seems exactly sure what these steps should be.

In wake of a formal letter circulated to the Magnates of each Duchy, the
Guild of Merchants is abuzz with talk that Emma ab Courtland has agreed to
return to her post as the Kingdom's Grand Magnate. The absence of
suitable, over-arching guild leadership and lulling Merchant visibility in
the Kingdom's capital city were cited as her primary inspirations, but some
pettier, smaller folk are whispering that the rumors about a noblewoman
feeling out the guild for a potential take-over seems every bit as likely a
reason. "She'd let tha' 'appen over 'er dead body," a pock-marked fellow
at the Queen's was heard to remark, adding: "For th'best. Now I know who
