"Former Justiciar Maxwell le Wattkil was publically lashed in the
Crossroads by Magistrate Noah Reed today. The Magistrate cited disrespect
of the Count of Awan Ride, Gavin ab Harkness, and disturbing peace by
resisting the arrest as the crimes under question. The whipping was kept
light, with only five lashes delivered, and in its wake Wattkil was
released as a free man."

Word has travelled of a mishap in the Kirulean Sea. A captain by the
name of Svenlen Fantersund, sailed his ship the Dainty Lady as a storm was
coming through. Captain Fantersund was known for preferring speed over
safety on many of his voyages, but he had been lucky thus far. Fate, or
Dav, finally caught up with the good captain on his final voyage, however.
The storm he tried to outrun caught him, destroying his ship. When the
storm had passed, wreckage and bodies were all that was left. No survivors
have been found, and the goods he was transporting has been written off as
lost at sea.

Daybreak, Februarius 16, 361. Sentries on guard at the royal palace of
Lithmore greeted a new day with news that soon spread through the city like
wildfire, particularly after the events of days past: that Cellan ab
Samael, the deposed Queen of Lithmore, was seen riding hard from the plains
stretching to the west of the Capitol, bound for the Trinity Gate. Reports
were confirmed slightly afterwards, when a large contingent of grimly
determined soldiers were spotted riding hard for the palace, all of whom
bore the banners of Awan Ride. Cellan herself rode at their head, clad in
battle armour, caked in dirt, and carrying a banner upon which was
emblazoned the Hawk of Samael. Word suggests that Cellan herself confirmed
that Caitrin had been conveyed to a safe location in secret, several weeks
before.

The former Queen and her contingent took up residence at the palace soon
afterwards, where they were reunited with Alexander and Herazade ab
Chevalier. Cellan was, however, notably reticent about both the
whereabouts of the royal children and her intentions for the Baronial
Council. Other members of the nobility already arrived for the council,
were less welcoming of her return, wondering quietly why she did not take
action sooner or stand against the late, erstwhile regent, and the
atmosphere at the palace is tense.

In the month following the catastrophic damage caused by the disgraced
Marquis, Casimir ab Azadar, troubling rumours began circulating that the
Earl Marshall, Sir Argider de Roldan, had incurred injuries more serious
from the events than the Keep had expected. Word was confirmed a week
later: that, unable to undertake his duties as a knight and leader at full
capacity until his wounds had healed, Sir de Roldan relinquished the
Marshallate to his direct subordinate and Grand Master, Sir Haidar de
Abn'Zahi. Soon after the decision was made, the new Earl Marshall, Sir de
Abn'Zahi, announced that Sir de Roldan was retiring from the office with
full honours for his service, and would return to the Keep after his period
of healing was completed with a promotion to the rank of Templar.

It should be noted that Grand Master de Abn'zahi has served faithfully for
the Knights Lithmorran, aiding both Keep and Cathedral in whatever matter
arose. "While under the training of Sir de Roldan, my knowledge in both
martial and mental faculties was greatly raised. I offer my heartfelt
prayers to Sir de Roldan during this most trying of times. I can only hope
to fullfull this role with the honor and dignity of the man before me." Sir
de Abn'zahi, known for both his martial capacity, and devout nature,
declines to comment any further, simply wishing that the City and Order
know that even amongst the chaos, the Knights Lithmorran are able, and
ready to serve the Lord.

In the late afternoon of Maritus sixteenth the Reeves could be heard
whispering about being without a Justiciar once more. It is a bit unknown
as to what truly spurred on the departure of Katarina de Winter, the
noblewoman seeming to be quite well liked among those she led.
Regardless of the rumors abound ranging from pregnancy to the regency there
are those with a level head and straight shoulders wondering who will next
heed the call of the ever changing position.

_________________________________________________________________________
It was a cool evening on the 15th day of Maritus when a small group
emerged from the cathedral after prayers, and crossed the square to speak
in the town hall. Standing atop a hastily erected dais, Herazade ab
Chevalier spoke to a gathering crowd, flanked by members high in the ranks
of the Knights Lithmorran and the Troubadours.

"Dear friends and strangers both, thank you for coming to hear me speak
today. It is with a heavy heart that Lithmore finds herself at a
crossroads. A rightful ruler has been usurped from her throne, and now an
innocent child is left to guide our wide realm- a task that no child can
do, no matter how strong her blood, no matter how great of a ruler she
shall surely one day be.

Recently, a great council was called, to bring the nobility of the kingdom
together to decide on the path which we shall forge forward with together.
The council determined that a regent will be chosen from amongst the
nobility to sit for a period of two years- and I hereby publicly put myself
forward as the potential regent for our Queen, Caitrin.

I have four pillars upon which I rest my intended place as regent.

The first of these is family. I come from and have married into a very
closely tied family; and am blessed to be able to call Caitrin and Celeste
my nieces, and her mother my sister by marriage. It is my strong belief
that nobody can care for a child better than their own blood- and that any
other regent will be tempted by their own dynastic ambitions.

The second is strength. Lithmore has always boasted strong armies from the
cream of knighthood down to the loyal and faithful footman serving on the
front. As a staunch Davite, as a woman born to the southern sands of Farin
and as the wife of a Knight Lithmorran, my stand is that these traditions
must not only continue, but be strengthened as well.

The third is culture. My own background is with the Troubadours, and it is
where I first made my name. I still maintain those ties, and I believe
strongly in supporting the arts and culture of Lithmore through
performance, through art, through literature and creating an environment
where these things can thrive.

My last, but deepest pillar is faith. I grew up in southern Farin, where
we practice a simple but very strong Davite faith. All that I do centers
around this faith, a faith that believes in following the word of the
church with utter conviction. A faith informed and inspired by the blessed
examples of our honored Saints Celeste and Thea. A faith that guides my
every action, that informs all of my other beliefs."

"I hope you will support me in reaching these goals, and that together we
can maintain the good work already done and continue to build on Lithmore's
greatness. A Lithmore which our children can be proud of." With the speech
concluded, the lady warmly thanked the crowd and her close supporters
before departing once more.

On Maritus the 19th, four gentryfolk were found murdered in their
respective homes. Officials have announced the murders as a politically
motivated act of violence; all four victims were avid supporters of
Baroness Kiana's campaign for the Regency. In light of this information
many backers of the Lady Baroness have withdrawn their support, fearing for
their life and the lives of their family.

Each victim had their right hand severed clean off.
