I'd like to propose consideration to peek at the chance of getting meat from lower levels of husbandry.
At the moment, you can butcher an animal at lower levels (IE 15) and get 6 + items (with a boar), however half are for arguably off-color purposes (IE Magecraft). A lot of these items serve no purpose for non-mages and can thus be awkward to try have versus something you can more readily use/sell/trade especially for newer players/characters.
As such, I'd like to suggest and/all of the following:
- Bump the chance of meat outcome as a primary item to produce. Even 1 piece of something is useful.
If the idea is failure shouldn't produce the better quality meat - have it produce some of the lower quality meats used in cooking recipe 158.
- Allow the general butchered animal carcass item to produce some of the meat from cooking recipe 158 based on a skill check or the size/weight of what it started with.
- More recipes to allow the carcasses to be roasted whole like everyone's favorite Rat-on-A-Stick recipe

After looking at the herd editor and mob templates, I don't think this is something I'll be able to adjust from inside the game. We'll need Azarial to make code adjustments as needed.
I think we ought to give one "a cut of identifiable meat" on a failed butchering attempt. Hacking inexpertly at a dead animal wouldn't make the vanish into thin air, it'd just make it a hunk of identifiable meat rather than the nice portions you get with higher Husbandry,
