Forageable stones as ammunition?

Would it be possible to make regular, forageable stones into throwable ammunition type objects of perhaps crappy quality?

I know it's not strictly necessary for being able to throw things, but I can think of at least a few reasons in favor. (There may be reasons against. I'm no expert in throwing mechanics.)

Right now, they're of type 'prop' and weigh less than 1 pound, I believe.

Fine with me. I think they were before on the original TI, actually. They were also used for skipping stones on water.

Could we add in slings? They're a thematically appropriate ranged weapon.

Love this idea. I'd love to see throwable fruit as well. That would be pretty awesome.
