Here's what our idea thread on poisons looks like:
- Poisons are craft items created with a physician guildskill called apothecary. A physican can accidentally poison themselves making them.
- Poisons do not work on one-off basis, rather you have to hit someone with it repeatedly over a period of time.
- Poisons can be touch, ingested, inhaled, or inflicted with weapon damage.
- Effects: no magic casting, pain + death, hallucinations

Lowered HP/MV totals (temporary, but also maybe permanent depending on dose/times exposed/etc?), disorientation (make them move in random directions if they try to move, inability to hit targets, etc).
Edit: Make people vom! In particular if it's the first time they get exposed to a poison or something; it tips players off that something not quite right is up, and might make them more cautious in the future.
Also, the ability to induce vomming might be nice as a protective...
