HELP FILE

Syntax: Look <#.tracks>

If you have the track skill, you will see the tracks of those who have
recently passed by a room.  The more skill you have, the better you are
able to identify and examine old tracks. 

SPEC - Track Skill

When a player walks through a room, they leave an invisible, rot-death item
in their wake called 'tracks'.  Tracks die out after 1 OOC hour.
Tracks indicate which direction the player was going, the height and weight
of the player, like this: 
 
     A set of tracks leading <direction> is here.
 
"look 1.tracks" will give the item's short desc, which would have been
generated upon creation to look something like this:

These tracks are of a <man/woman/child> approximately <weight+load> lbs in
weight, and approximately 5'4 in height.  The tread leads in <direction> direction.  

The ability to see tracks depends on how much time is left before rotdeath
of the tracks occurs.  So, if the tracks have X amount of time left one
their one-hour timer, the tracker needs the following skill:

Sneaking players do not leave tracks.
Tracks are not left indoors or in city/street sectors.

Err...


If tracks aren't made by sneaking people, or indoor rooms, or city streets, this skill is virtually useless, given our Lithmorran central focus. ._o

Maybe it could be much harder to detect tracks left by sneaking individuals, or in city streets / indoors? There's usually something that denotes passing, even if its incredibly sublime and difficult to pick up, without much training or high perception.

As an avid sneaker myself, I do think it is reasonable to have a chance of detecting sneaking people's tracks if a character has at least Grand Master in track. Ditto for city streets.

The issue with having it in city streets is that the object backlog could get to be so great it crashes the game, albeit I suppose we could just limit the amount of tracks allowed per room.

That would ICLy make sense, to limit the number of tracks in a room. I mean, just because you track someone to Church Square, you'd assume that with all the traffic in and out, it's much easier to lose the trail...right?
