I think this is a great idea and would further encourage the resource options be expanded to include more of the neat special items available in NPC shops. Letting players use these kinds of props to better support their stories is one of my favorite aspects of the resource/asset system.

I am looking at doing this, and for some of the other regional items, but we'll need to be creating new items for them, and make sure the crafts accept them. Right now, they are just special staff restrings of the base vnums which the system can't load up. It should be able to happen, just might take a little.
