Hrmmm. The suggestion is to make emote basically an alias for rpecho? That's what rpecho does, right?

Nope. Or rather...

Making emote an alias for rpecho would break all of the normal use cases, which is the Bad Thing that Kinaed and Temi are talking about. For example:

Input: emote jumps around like a lunatic.
Output: Applesauce jumps around like a lunatic.

Input: rpecho jumps around like a lunatic.
Output: Jumps around like a lunatic. [Applesauce]

The new suggestion ONLY ONLY ONLY applies when your emote starts with quote marks, in which case yes rpecho would have the same output. All the other cases are fine.

So sure, the correct answer right now (with no code changes) is for us all to remember to use rpecho when we want this behavior, but people often forget this several times in the same scene. Yes, it doesn't hurt to repeat the emote with the fixed /self or swapping it out with rpecho, but the frequency just makes it distracting.
