Subversion Falloff

It's come to my attention that subversion (using the support feature) falls off without IC interaction with the person in question. This seems entirely counterintuitive and probably will entirely hinder any impact of the system, as generally speaking you're not going to be RPing face-to-face with people you ICly don't like.

Hmmm. It may actually encourage you to do just that, which in turn has the potential to create some subtle (or not so subtle) conflict-RP.
You can always reenter an expired support or subversion without interacting with the person, too, if it's preferred. Like, if it expires due to not RPing with them, you just enter it again and it's refreshed.

That just seems like metagaming the system — really, I don't get why support/subversion falls off at all, since it isn't supposed to simulate direct interaction; my impression is that it's the way your PC interacts with people when you're not online; ie Farra speaking well of, say, Ariel when dealing with a merchant in her antics she gets up to when I'm not online. I get in theory why you'd want it, but it'd allow a Guild Leader to simply avoid interacting with people they might think are subverting them just to protect their position, as subversion and support are integral to GL approval ratings now. You're also simply, by nature, more prone to RP with those your character gets alone with than not.Pixie wrote:You can always reenter an expired support or subversion without interacting with the person, too, if it's preferred. I tend to think of manually reentering support or subversion as, "I am still deciding to focus on this even though I haven't seen the target, and here's why/how I'm presently handling it." As you have to enter the reason why you're doing it each time you support or subvert, it keeps it the IC documentation up to date and what have you.
I do get your point, though!

If there was a login message, or something on 'support show' that said when support has fallen off from lack of IC contact that'd make more sense! Or if there was a 'support renew <player> [optional reason]'.Pixie wrote:I tend to think of manually reentering support or subversion as, "I am still deciding to focus on this even though I haven't seen the target." Refreshing it is kinda "I'm still on this, and this is why", as you have to enter the reason why you're doing it each time you support or subvert. Support renew would be excellent! I would always hope for a reason provided, as even if reasons don't change over time methods likely would, but I really like the spirit of it.
A toggle for login messages on a lot of things would be great... I would love it for support expiration and new/updated gnotes.

I don't believe this is still the case; I've certainly never seen one.Tremere wrote:You get a pboard when you support is falling off from lack of ic contact. At least, there -used- to be, but i don't know if that is still the case.
