I think it would be really handy and help cut down on clutter if you could use non-consumable crafting tools without taking them out of a container, as long as it's in a container in the room or on your person. As it stands, you either have to deal with some inventory micromanagement every time you want to craft, or just deal with having all your tools be out and crowding your room description all the time.

I could maybe see this having a minor drawback if it's a bit too convenient - maybe just an extra couple of lines at the beginning and end of the crafting scroll:
So if you're going to be doing a whole lot of crafting at once, it could save you time to get your tools out and leave them out for a bit.

I worry this would slow down the code by adding an extra need to scan through all objects in all objects in the room and inventory, which could slow down crafting from a computing standpoint. It already needs to check quite a lot just looking in the top level of each.
