Commander vs Earl Marshall

After discussion on a previous thread, I realized that the duties of the EM and Commander of the Banners were very similarly described, but in practice should be different. I found a few helpfiles, where changes might facilitate the two being completely different, unique roles - and have unique jobs within the realm. Usually I would just submit this to staff, but it seems like a bit of a major change, and I would like feedback. Note: This is organic, it won't be a rewrite. The change comes, ICly, because we no longer have the Patriarch invested in the Monarchy. This is just updating helpfiles to reflect that.
---------------------
HELP DAV
Paragraph two, last two sentences. “That same year, Dav elevated one Knight Lithmorran to the title of Knight of the Chalice, and placed him over all other Knights as the Supreme Commander. The Supreme Commander, traditionally, holds the title of Earl Marshall - the military commander of the Realm.”
Replaced with: “That same year, Dav elevated one Knight Lithmorran to the title of Knight of the Chalice, and placed him over all other Knights as the Earl Marshall of the Kingdom.”
HELP EARL MARSHALL
Last two sentences: “They are charged with the safety of the Realm. Always, the Earl Marshall is a member of the Holy Order of Dav.”
Replaced with: “During the reign of the Harmons the Earl Marshall commanded the Kingdoms armies – but with the split between Church and Crown, in recent times their scope has become more focused. Charged with upholding the Order’s prerogatives in military matters, the Earl Marshall serves is liaison between the Kingdom’s military, and the Church – using their Knights to carry out religious directive throughout the Kingdom and her subsidiaries.”
HELP KNIGHTS
First sentence: “An elite military force, the Knights Lithmorran primarily serve the warrants of the Holy Order and act as their bodyguards, but have a heavy secondary role within the kingdom's military, using their elite skills to defend the realm and command the monarch's armies in times of war.”
Replaced with: “An elite military force, the Knights Lithmorran primarily serve the warrants of the Holy Order and act as their bodyguards, but have a heavy secondary role within the kingdom's military, using their elite skills to help defend the realm in times of need and insure that religious directives are upheld during conflict.”
Added to end, new paragraph: “The Knights traditionally serve as the military arm of the Order, carrying out their will during times of conflict and protecting faithful Davites. However, because of their unique and vast training it is not uncommon to see Knights serving as captains, advisers, and scouts under the Commander of the Banners during times of war.

The Kingdom of Lithmore receives her armies with levies from her surrounding duchies and counties. How many men are offered by each Duke and landed noble varies, and has naturally been the subject of many debates at court. Traditionally the Kingdom’s armies were commanded by the Earl Marshall, but since the fall of the Harmons and the split of Church and Crown, the Commander of the Banners leads the Kingdom’s troops, while the Earl Marshall works with them, using their knights to compliment the militia and see that the word of the Lord is upheld.

The Commander of the Banners oversees the Kingdom's army. Ultimately, the Commander is responsible for implementing the Regent's policies in regards to military action. The Commander generally does not take the field him- or herself, except in the case of direct threats to Lithmore City - as the commander of the Royal Guard as well, the Commander is charged with defense of the Palace itself.
