Takta states, "This should bring NPC pay more in line with PC pay here on out."

help support
Helpfile for Support

Syntax: support
support add <name> <reason>
support subvert <name> <reason>
support remove <name> <reason>
support history
support show <name>

Support is the means by which the code calculates a player's social
power due to their in-game relationships.

It is appropriate for a character to provide support to those who employ
them, or those that the character is primarily loyal to, but no player is
ever required to provide support for another no matter their association.

Also, players are entirely within their rights to expect some sort of
kickback in return for offering support. Similarly, those expecting support
but not receiving it are entirely within their rights to withdraw their
beneficence if they do not receive it. Regardless, the transfer must be
based on IC factors.

To support another PC, use support add <name> <reason> to supply the IC
reason that your character has for providing support. This use of support
is a general, long-term endeavor that will grant a player influence points.

Players may also actively undermine the social power of a character by
using support subvert <name> <reason> by bringing their own social network
to bear against their foe. Once again, this action is a long-term activity
that reduces another player's earned influence points.

A player can remove their support from another at any time with support
remove <name> <reason>. Players can also view a history of their
character's loyalties with support history.

Support show will show you who currently supports you as well as who you
are presently supporting and how many more people you are able to support.

Your number of support slots varies based upon the following things:

[ Press (c)ontinue, (r)efresh, (b)ack, (q)uit or hit (h)elp ] (47% complete)

Takta pontificates, "Temi, your turn!"

[ Press (c)ontinue, (r)efresh, (b)ack, (q)uit or hit (h)elp ] (47% complete)

+1 upon creation
+1 for being Gentry
+1 if you are in a Guild
+1 for being a Guildleader
+1 for every 5 IP earned weekly
* All players can have a max of 5 support slots

Players receive a number of dedicated subversion slots equal to their
number of support slots.

Finally, players can impact a guildleader's approval ratings by using
the support <approve> <guildleader> or support <disapprove> <guildleader>
at a variable Influence Point cost. Players can pool their Influence
Points with the influence command. This command places the player into a
POLCA editor where they describe an event that affects the guildleader's
rating, positively or negatively.

In the support POLCA:

anonymous <yes|no> <-- sets if the event is done covertly or not;
standard dis/approvals have a base cost of 5
IP while anonymous ones have a base cost of 10
invest <IP amount> <-- sets how many influence points to spend on the
attempt OVER the base cost
title <title> <-- sets the subject line for the IC_Events note
desc <-- enters text editor to write body of the
IC_Events note
post <-- submits the influence event to Staff for approval
cancel <-- cancels the event submission

- Do not ask players OOCly whom they support or request them to support you
OOCly. If someone OOCly requests support or asks you whom your character
supports, please report it to staff immediately. OOC clarification of an
IC request is okay, however, such as "That emote is my ICly letting you
know that I'm looking for your support." More than that, however, is not
okay. It is absolutely prohibited for players to OOCly pressure other
players into giving support.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Azarial says, "Once they are hated, you can open a gambit against them, and then everyone can vote."

Temi trails off, "Okay! Let's see if I can remember what I did..."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Temi claims, "I got some feedback on livestock and how it feels now that it's been in play for a while, and I've loosened up the tending times and made some mob returns a little more generous."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Altana states, "My alt says: nice"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Temi states, "And made some crafting adjustments for some cooking stuff - alternative flours and yeasty stuff."

A Comfortable Room
[Perfect]
A plethora of gaily coloured silk pillows with fringes and tassels
completely conceal the floor. A large pillow in the corner stands out, a
brooding black mass of velvet and fringeless. Screens of nature scenes
painted with the spare strokes of a brush that hint at and outline the
subjects, leaving much to the imagination. Behind the screens, silk
curtains and sheets painted with bright patterns hide the walls, pulled
back only around the windows that pierce the southern and western walls to
look out over a lush garden filled with an untamed riot of plants and
trees.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard questions, "Question about the current approval system - How long can you go without RPing with someone you support/subvert before it drops off?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Altana trails off, "I believe it's pretty generous... like in the weeks"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta states, "I wanna say it's a couple weeks? But you can manually re-add."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta says, "And it should inform you when it's dropped off."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Temi nods.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Azarial asks, "I believe it checks weekly to see if you met your rp requirements. it is fairly modest, though?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta says, "The only reason it drops off is to make you 'recommit' if you haven't even been interacting with this person."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Azarial states, "100 rpxp"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Mika claims, "Just to make sure you arent accidentally messing someone up by forgetting"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta queries, "Sort of a 'hey, do you -really- support this person? if so just tell us'"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Takta grins.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta pontificates, "Temi also fixed all the mobs to the new wages so I didn't have to!"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Temi states, "I put in the wages for retainers and pets as Takta mentioned. Should be able to check the upkeep command to see what your pets are at. One thing Takta didn't mention was pet-style animals should be in the 5-10 range. Working a little more on the Vavardi helpfile revamp (not in yet). And I think that's about it. I'll also be doing a little more crafting stuff... if I'm not too distracted by looking through my medieval cookbook I brought out for reference."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Takta grins.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta claims, "Thanks! Mika, you're up."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Mika claims, "I've still been picking at my specs and helpfiles. i'm almost done with the new top secret demon guide for staff so we can all get on the same page with our demons and hopefully they will be even awesomer (if maybe a little different, we might have to ask for some suspension of disbelief there)"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Mika says, "I drafted up rules for how the 'rearrange' command could work, the one a few players requested for taking items dropped in a room and just moving them up and down on the list of dropped room items"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Azarial will enable more staff commands for demon use as needed

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Mika states, "And for mages, compulsion spell has some new rules regarding not wishing for infinite wishes, and not using it to be creepy"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
say Yay for demonstuff.

Raymond claims, "Yay for demonstuff."
(This is an OOC room. Nothing counts for rpxp here.)

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Mika states, "Thats it for me"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta says, "(The demon guidelines are amazing so far :D)"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta exclaims, "Thanks! Okay, Elzenn, your turn!"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn claims, "I have mostly been up to board maintenance with recommend, typo and phome request processing as I (er..slowly) return from my impromptu absence and get my White Flame ducks back in order. On that front, I've rewarded everyone who had submitted plots in the last batch, and am planning for the next stage. As always, anyone with questions/concerns, feel free to write to me and I will be happy to answer. Outside of that, my next project will probably be some small revisions to the Farin cultural file to get a bit more coherent."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn declares, "And that is me!"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Mika grins at Elzenn.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta claims, "Pithy and convenient! Thanks."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Takta grins.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn claims, "(No wait, I also made our boats.)"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn rows, rows, rows a tinted marzipan and glassy sugarwork boat with many sails.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Altana claims, "Awesome boats"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta questions, "All right! With that, time to check in you all. How has RP been this week? Any problems/issues to address?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Altana claims, "Rp was good. sorry for abducting everyone all week, we're back now"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
say Lil bit slow, but it has been fun!

Raymond declaims, "Lil bit slow, but it has been fun!"
(This is an OOC room. Nothing counts for rpxp here.)

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Eamon pontificates, "Settling in at last!"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta questions, "Anything staff can do to help with people's RP going forward?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

[OOC] Kyrand: "Can I get dragged into the OOC Chat please?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Marisa says, "I don't think I've gotten any, but that's not really anybody's fault but mine"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

[OOC] Kyrand: "Was finishing up some stuff. All done now."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Temi has transferred Evrald. [OOC]

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Elzenn gives a tinted marzipan and glassy sugarwork boat with many sails to Evrald.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
say Well, whereRP was quiet early this week, though these last two days there has been a lot of RP!

Raymond pontificates, "Well, whereRP was quiet early this week, though these last two days there has been a lot of RP!"
(This is an OOC room. Nothing counts for rpxp here.)

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta declaims, "Aw. Well, here's to more good RP in the following days!"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta questions, "Doesn't seem to be a lot to chat about, so let's move on to player topics. At the moment, we only have one. Raymond, would you like to introduce your topic?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn says, "WhereRP and messengers are definitely good to prod. Even try going to places you are not sure you can find, with the aid of 'travel'."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn states, "I know I am guilty of sometimes sitting in what I feel is public enough a place on my PC (because it's open), but which might not necessarily be known to new players, so mea maxima culpa there."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta says, "(It's also okay to ask on OOC if anybody wants to RP, or etc.)"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Elzenn nods at Takta.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
say Hi! So, I love conflict and I love when plots frogmarch as many people as realism might allow, and lately there have been some awesome conflicts in the game, like mages and demons and what not. While sometimes it has been realistic to call for messengers (I can think of the battle against the demon at the Crossroads), there were other situations where a messenger was sent to every single player in the game world to heed help against crimes that were quite minor, but most importantly the messenger was sent at blade-sight. I want to know the player's thoughts on this, because my own POV is that it shouldn't happen.

Raymond states, "Hi! So, I love conflict and I love when plots frogmarch as many people as realism might allow, and lately there have been some awesome conflicts in the game, like mages and demons and what not. (This is an OOC room. Nothing counts for rpxp here.)

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard queries, "A game wide messenger sent at the sight of combat?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard says, "Pretty sure we've said before that's a huge no-no."

Elzenn states, "I think it depends on the place, personally. If you are holding someone up in a public place, people will see you and I think we can't really rule against."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Marisa claims, "That really seems like an extreme overreaction."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Eamon claims, "I'm not a fan of sending a messenger when it doesn't make situational sense, but defining situational sense is a problem."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Altana nods.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Elzenn nods at Eamon.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Altana says, "I like to err more on the side of bystanders turning their eyes down and minding their own business, personally"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn says, "The map feels empty, but Lithmore is a very populous city; you have to assume that if you are not in a private room, there are people around. (look around is helpful to get a sense of this)."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Altana finishes abruptly, "But it's also difficult to gauge - if youre in a crowded public place someone could freak out and get a reeve"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard claims, "Even if people are around, it doesn't mean someone is gonna run as far as say the palace yelling about a fight at the crossroads."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Eamon claims, "But I think it falls under not assuming VNPCs will aid you, so if you can't realistically in the situation -pay- someone to go send a message, you probably shouldn't. Maybe not so much for demons."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Altana nods at Gaspard.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
say I mean, I can see that if a mage appears at the Crossroads, it is a fact that word would spread, but I also got a messenger about a-- What Gaspard said.

Raymond claims, "I mean, I can see that if a mage appears at the Crossroads, it is a fact that word would spread, but I also got a messenger about a-- What Gaspard said."
(This is an OOC room. Nothing counts for rpxp here.)

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard claims, "Town Criers over fights happening is kind've ridiculous honestly"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Azarial says, "I imagine you are free to ignore a messenger if it is not appropriate"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn states, "Also what Az said."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Altana states, "I like that. restricting messenger use to where youre physically capable of paying"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta claims, "You can ignre a messenger, but others might not."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta claims, "And that could really dogpile in a situation."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta claims, "Also the recipients may not know the message sender didn't make sense."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Mika nods.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard states, "I'm a staunch believer in messengers during a fight being absolutely out of character. Fights don't last more than a few minutes."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Mika nods.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Evrald claims, "I've had times where I accepted a messenger and if the message was running through the streets yelling about something while I was at home in the Charalin Encampment, I acted asif I didn't hear it since there's no way someone ran all the way out there to yell it."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard claims, "It's not really feasible for help to be found unless the person's in the room with you, or say if it happens in the middle of the church and the message goes directly to a Knight."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard claims, "Or at the palace going directly to a reeve."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
say It's hard to be the bad guy already, I imagine, and if you're playing a mage casting spells in the Crossroad, you can expect a reaction... but if you're playing a guy with a knife trying to corner a guy somewhere random, I'm not sure it's realistic. Yeah, what Gaspard said. The moment from where you draw a knife and when you finish emoting, half the playerbase can corner up on you.

Raymond states, "It's hard to be the bad guy already, I imagine, and if you're playing a mage casting spells in the Crossroad, you can expect a reaction... but if you're playing a guy with a knife trying to corner a guy somewhere random, I'm not sure it's realistic. Yeah, what Gaspard said. The moment from where you draw a knife and when you finish emoting, half the playerbase can corner up on you."
(This is an OOC room. Nothing counts for rpxp here.)

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Hunapo says, "To be devils advocate though, you don't want to go so far as to willfully exclude people from waht could be a really awesome scene. Just like it makes IC sense for Reeves to tell people to shoo it doesn't make for very entertianing rp"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Eamon muses, "Is it during a fight if battle's imminent but not yet begun?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Mika claims, "There was some concern recently about time dilation in rp'd fights vs. players being able to show up throughout the whole extended duration"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Eamon states, "I see a difference between kicking people OUT of a scene and not INVITING them into a scene they maybe shouldn't get there in time to intervene in."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Eamon says, "Especially when it means 10 lawfuls dogpiling on 1 bad guy."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Altana nods at Eamon.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Gaspard claims to Hunapo, "It's only awesome for the dogpile. The guy said dogpile is being called on is just being shat on so the dude sending the crier can escape it."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
say Do we -want- a mob to show up every time a guy points a dagger at someone and asks for coins, though?

Raymond questions, "Do we -want- a mob to show up every time a guy points a dagger at someone and asks for coins, though?"
(This is an OOC room. Nothing counts for rpxp here.)

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta queries, "So what concrete steps might be most helpful here?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Azarial states, "Prolly not if we want them to keep pointing daggers at peaople to spur rp"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta states, "I must admit I don't think we can use code to clearly differentiate between dubious uses of messengers and realistic ones."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn claims, "No, but I disagree that we should let poor choice of where you're pointing daggers at people dictate that you should get away for the sake of RP."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn says, "That gets irritating super fast."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Altana asks of Takta, "Would it be overly negative to add policy to messengers where youre physically paying the messengers instead of "having a bystander notice"?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Takta queries to Altana, "I think that would make sense and be helpful, with the exception being you can call bystanders on YOURSELF or perhaps on obvious magery?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Marisa queries, "Define reasonable times to send a messenger - only once the tense situation is addressed, or before entering into the room?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Altana nods.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Hunapo nods at Marisa.

Takta claims, "We may need to work on some language but that also makes sense to me."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Altana says, "Rumours after brief public holdups give the reeves something to investigate as well"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
say Yeah, I agree with you, Elzenn. Some robberies have been done in unrealistic place. Do we have a way to report battle / magic done in public places?

Raymond queries, "Yeah, I agree with you, Elzenn. Some robberies have been done in unrealistic place. Do we have a way to report battle / magic done in public places?"

Takta claims to Raymond, "Code will report magery in public places."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Altana trails off, "(and i dunno about you guys but i vastly prefer being stuck up at knifepoint to having my house broken into ... in game)"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta claims, "And some other lawbreaking in public places."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Elzenn claims to Raymond, "I'm probably sounding crazy militant about this, sorry! I think you're right about it generally, though, but we will probably have to talk about this to figure out a way to deal with it that makes sense."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Elzenn grins.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta claims, "But sadly, we can't make code report an RP'd mugging that doesn't go to combat."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Evrald states, "I think lockpicking also gets reported"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Takta nods.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard states, "Well, to be fair"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta says, "Reports only happen in public-flagged rooms, which is a smallish subset."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard says, "I'm also of the belief that your average citizen shouldn't be jumping in to attack the offender. People just don't do that and that's why we have Reeves."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Temi muses, "I think it would be reasonable to let the reports happen as the automatic response, and then you can't do your own response until you're out of the situation?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Gaspard claims to Temi, "That'd be neat."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Hunapo smiles at Gaspard as he strokes his cloak lovingly.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Takta claims to Gaspard, "I concur! But I think people play MUDs for fun, and many people enjoy action, so I doubt we'll get that enshrined."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard states, "Another idea would be to make combat in public places. Actual attacks, not safeattacks, trigger a crime message to the online Reeves."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Evrald claims, "Some of us aren't your average citizen. But I know what you mean. If you're not combat trained and whatnot then maybe not jump in."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
say I mean, if you think of it from a realistic POV, I don't think the Reeves would be as fast as to show up somewhere to stop a mugger; if there's a bystander, he's free to call for Reeves, though, or join in.

Raymond claims, "I mean, if you think of it from a realistic POV, I don't think the Reeves would be as fast as to show up somewhere to stop a mugger; if there's a bystander, he's free to call for Reeves, though, or join in."

Takta claims, "I would think that it should, yes, with a sufficient delay."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn states, "I think most genuine non combat characters don't really jump into combat scenes. The issue is that there are a lot of combat-trained characters who are not the law."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Gaspard states to Raymond, "Reeves also play as the city guard. If it happens in a public space, you bet they'd show up quick."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn says, "Or the Knights."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
say Exactly.
Altana nods.

Raymond claims, "Exactly."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
say But if you're at your home in the South Side and you get a messenger calling out "There's a guy holding someone at knife point at X place" you do have to sit and wonder, "Should I receive that, right now?"

(This is an OOC room. Nothing counts for rpxp here.)

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta states, "But usually I see those non-guilded combatants jump in 1) to assist Knights/Reeves or 2) when they or a loved one are in danger. That make sense to me."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta claims, "I'm not sure that's really a big part of the problem."

Hunapo claims, "I do need to make one interjection, sometimes it may not be a Reeve or Knight that responds because other areas of the may have, uh, different law enforcement groups."

Elzenn gives a tinted marzipan and glassy sugarwork boat with many sails to Silrie.

Elzenn gives a tinted marzipan and glassy sugarwork boat with many sails to Farra.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Farra eats a tinted marzipan and glassy sugarwork boat with many sails.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Hunapo claims, "Exactly."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn states, "The Southside is arguably less of a problem, a lot of the PCs cannot actually go."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Temi states, "It is entirely reasonable that reeves or knights can't respond to every call of things."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Altana nods.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta asks, "So, we'll discuss with Kinaed about no messengers when you couldn't ICly pay someone to go carry a note, and maybe some other guidance to RP usage, and perhaps delayed channel warnings for active combat?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard claims, "Knights shouldn't be responding to regular crime breaking anyway. They're mage hunters, not policemen."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Altana states, "I like that idea"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Evrald states, "I thought the Inquisitors were mage hunters"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Elzenn says to Gaspard, "The argument there is that you also can't ask them not to when they're there."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn claims, "If someone is going to die, I mean."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta says, "Inquisitors are mage detective; Knights are mage apprehenders."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Hunapo states, "Yeah but Reeves sure do respond to a whole lot of demon and mage attacks, but that is an IC issue"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn states, "There is absolutely no way we could rule on that."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Farra says OOCly, "I can't help but wonder if messages to 'all' shouldn't be reserved for non-combat rps, to jump in to the middle here."

Evrald claims, "Ah."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Gaspard says to Elzenn, "Nothing stopping them from intervening but they can't arrest a guy for a crime. It's not their jurisdiction"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Eamon claims, "There is an argumet to be made that it makes sense to send for all in some combat situations, AND it gives people RP."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
say I think maybe we can make it so that you have to ask the robber, "Hey, would it be fine if I RP that someone is noticing this?" Or something of the like; he could send a messenger to the Reeves if it's something feasible enough for response.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Mika claims to Farra, "I kind of like the idea of messengers to 'all' as hired town criers"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Silrie smiles at Evrald.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Elzenn muses to Mika, "That's a good idea, actually. Various spots where the message could be rpyelled from?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Mika claims, "But yeah like a demon waggling around would have people running and screaming"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Takta claims to Raymond, "I like the idea of allowing the person you're contesting with to have a say, though I'm not 100% sure about building in OOC negotiation as a requirement."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Evrald states to Silrie, "Hey there stranger."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn questions, "Vs the direct message to everyone?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard claims, "Town Criers should only be used for city spanning events like the Blackest Night or whatever we called it. Or... yuuuuuge parties."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta says, "Hmmm. Actual town 'criers' could fix a lot of this too."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Mika claims to Elzenn, "That could be cooooool. i still like ensuring people get messengers for events and stuff though"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn says, "I mean, it would mean that your 'all' messages would be accessible only if you're actually out and about in public."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta says, "You cannot accept a message to all unless you're inside city limits."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Altana nods at Takta.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta pontificates, "So you can GET it, you try to accept it elsewhere, and you're told "You can't hear the criers!""

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta claims, "So if you want to go get it, you better go near crier-territory."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Gaspard says to Takta, "Palace is considered city limits then, and that's outside the city north of it."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Gaspard states to Takta, "Cause I got a crier from a message sent in the city."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta states, "Yes, it could be zone-based."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Evrald says, "I'm almost positive that the Encampment wouldn't be in city limits."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
say Or maybe we can add categories to the 'all'?

Raymond muses, "Or maybe we can add categories to the 'all'?"
(This is an OOC room. Nothing counts for rpxp here.)

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta claims, "But the point being, this way everyone is -apprised-, but you can't get the actual content until you're in a place where it makes sense, putting down some limits."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Evrald claims, "But i'm good with that."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Altana says, "I think the hillish village and the charali encampment are wilderness"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard trails off, "I'll admit. I really would like that myself. The number of times I've gotten a crier while in a private scene is....weird"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Azarial says, "There is a lithmore setting in zones for the bells"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard claims, "And always feels weird even if it's ignored"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Azarial states, "So that the wilderness does not hear the bells"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Elzenn states to Takta, "Yeah. It gives a chance for people to get included if they want to."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Farra exclaims, "Yeah, but screaming and running around takes time. having a swarm of people show up to stop a fight as soon as it breaks out feels nonthemaric and is a bit lame for the instigator; maybe a set time after a combative scene starts that a messenger can be sent out; also, I'm not sure if you can send a messenger in fight code, but while i think it'd be fine to, i think a coded limit of how early in a fight a message can be sent could be nice. Sorry I'm slow! .. zoned based (streets, etc) would be good too!"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta claims, "We -have- discussed also about changing messenger messages so you know if it's a crier vs. personal message."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Takta nods at Elzenn.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Temi nods at Takta.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Altana nods at Farra.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Temi says, "We should still look at that - knowing whether it's time to accept or reject."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta says, "You cannot send a message while in actual combat."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Farra nods.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Eamon says, "I see too many situations where it does make sense to send for people immediately to be comfortable with a blanket 'no message all when danger looms'."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Evrald claims, "So if the mugger makes an attack, the victim can't actually send the message in question"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Eamon claims, "But clearly it doesn't make sense to be sending messengers off when you are in immediate threat for your life."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
say Or to receive a messenger when you're in a palace / private room / south side.

Raymond says, "Or to receive a messenger when you're in a palace / private room / south side."
(This is an OOC room. Nothing counts for rpxp here.)

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta claims, "Lots of good thoughts here to present to Kin, I think."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Evrald claims, "Depends on the messenger"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta says, "Let me ask now:"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta queries, "Does anyone else have a topic they'd like to discuss?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Farra questions, "I'd like to discuss why Farra is so awesome. Anyone have ideas?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Hunapo muses to Farra, "Her hair?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard wonders, "Her new perfume?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta claims, "Hmmm, definitely no ideas here. ;)"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Farra claims, ":D"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Marisa states, "Clearly not because she ever comes visit me, alas."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Elzenn says to Farra, "Ya been burnt."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta claims, "But we've got twenty-odd minutes left and I think we may have talked the messenger topic out."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta states, "So I'd welcome other topics for discussion."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Evrald states, "Oh! I just have a question."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard claims, "Oh oh oh I have something"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Farra declares, "To marisa Probably worried she'll run into that rat you wedded!"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Evrald wonders, "Have you guys looked over the idea of a suede tunic yet?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Farra coughs.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta says, "No, but I'm sure we'll add one."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta states, "That feels like an oversight, not intentional."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Evrald wonders, "And the idea of a non-common fur blanket?"

Temi says, "I haven't touched leather, since I dind't do anything with it"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Silrie wonders, "On phone, so slow, but "go?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Takta questions to Gaspard, "What's your topic?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta trails off, "I'm..."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Temi claims, "I think Takta's the one that's owned those."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta claims, "Really not sure you'd waste exotic furs on a -blanket-."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Evrald declaims, "I'm not sure either!"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Silrie says, "Er, question."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta queries, "It feels a bit incomprehensible. Would anyone want/use that recipe?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Azarial muses, "More money than sense?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Evrald says, "But it was called a common fur blanket so I was thinking. :p"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Altana questions to Takta, "Wrap myself in leopard fur? yes"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard says, "Anyone who's interested in making an Inquisitor, apps -are- open for them at the moment and the Order could really use some active members on the ecclesiastical side."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Takta nods at Gaspard.
Elzenn claims to Azarial, "We have a couple of those."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Evrald states, "See! I have a customer already. :p"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard states, "I'd love you long time."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Takta says, "Please consider it if you're interested! Personnel for the Order's important."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Takta states to Evrald, "I'll have a think re: the blanket."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Takta queries to Silrie, "What's your question?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Gaspard claims, "/end shameless Order plug"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Silrie wonders, "Might there ever be a time when we can plant flax for cotton?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Azarial states, "Flax dones;t give cotton"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Elzenn asks, "Linen?"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Takta states to Temi, "I'll defer to you on that one."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)
Takta grins.

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Silrie claims, "That's what I meant. Light cloth."

Temi claims, "I feel like this has been asked before"

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Temi says, "And I'm not opposed, but not prioritizing it, and not likely to soon."

[RPXP Gain: none] [HP:perfect MV:fresh P:walk] (R)

Evrald claims, "It has. Last time it was 'we will think on it, just ask about it later'"

Silrie claims, "Sounds good. Sorry."

Class: Skill
Syntax: art
art -all
art show <recipe number or keyword>
art <recipe number or keyword>
art -search <keyword>
art inspect <item or recipe number>

Art is a broad term that covers creative design utilizing a number of
different media; similarly, the art skill on The Inquisition: Legacy
represents a number of different creative skills that produce a variety of
decorative items. For our purposes, art encompasses papercrafting,
illustration (including drawing, painting and tattoos), and sculpting
(including some ceramics and textiles).

Art alone will show you all of the recipes you can currently make.

Art -all will list all recipes in the skill, while art show <recipe> will
give you more details about a specific recipe such as what ingredients you
will need to create it.

Art <recipe number or keyword> will attempt to make that recipe.

The art -search <keyword> option allows you to search through the recipes
for a specific keyword such as an ingredient, and art inspect <item or
recipe number> gives more information on the produced item.

Recipes that show in red (or have a - in the Pools column) are beyond your
skill.

Tools for this skill may be purchased in stores such as the Artist's Studio
in the Vavardi Quarter or the Bookstore on Willow Lane, or from other

There will be different levels of ledgers in game. The better the
material, the greater the durability.

* Would it be worthwhile to limit how many pages lower-level ledgers can
have?

Graffiti, Frescoes, Mosaics

These items don't necessarily require changing code to make, but will
require an adjustment to masonry clean (or possibly require a new command,
but I prefer reusing what already exists).

Graffiti, frescoes and mosaics are all NOTAKE items. Graffiti will have a
decay timer (current suggestion: 1 RL month if not cleaned off) but
frescoes and mosaics will be permanent. Frescoes and mosaics especially
will be heavy on ingredients and mv requirements, and destroying them (via
masonry clean) would also require high mv.

* Should destroying frescoes and mosaics require RPA instead? Or log as a
crime 'just in case? '

* Should using graffiti report as a crime, or require cnotes?

Stationery

The idea behind stationery is, rather than just another paper object, a way
to make and use temporary headers. It should be reasonably expensive so as
not to be used instead of buying a permanent header, but has nice RP value
(seasonal greeting cards, possibly forgery attempts?) . I see it working
a bit like pigeons do now, where PCs first enter an @header extra desc on
the object, then hold it and mail. This would be the Rank 75 Recipe.

* Maybe require being in a courier room to mail?

[ Press (c)ontinue, (r)efresh, (b)ack, (q)uit or hit (h)elp ] (77% complete)

* Possible con: How would we keep track of who's using the special headers?
Alternative: Recipe Books

As an alternative to stationery, perhaps a 75 Cap recipe could be recipe
books related to our plans for research: single-use objects that allow
players to 'scribe' a skill lesson into a book for another character to
read. This could be used only for actual recipes, or as a limited ability
to help pool a skill (e.g. You can only write one lesson read a book once
per RL 24 hours, or a week, or whatever).

Town Hall Scriptorium
[Relatively chilly]
Eight writing benches line up in parallel rows before triangle-peaked
writing tables that allow a scribe to sit at either side. At each table, a
small pottery ink well rests into a hole cut specifically to hold it, and a
small bench foot rest allows scribes to put up their feet. A lectern for
dictation stands near the doorway in the western wall, up a small flight of
three stairs and squashed between two bookshelves. Another, special table
with a lock box for expensive inks provides a place for illuminators once
the text books have been completed.

Since I didn't get to make the meeting, I'll put in some of my thoughts here!

Why don't we just remove messages to 'all' entirely, and have hiring a town crier be a separate command? The crier could automatically be echoed to everyone in the city after a delay, instead of having people accept the messages (after all, you can't really choose not to hear a message that's being shouted through the streets).

I think it'd also be helpful to make it policy that messengers hired are always indeed hired messengers, and shouldn't be leveraged as concerned bystanders or panicking citizens running through the streets. Which is to say, if you're being threatened at knifepoint, or otherwise being put in a situation where you can't turn around and hire a messenger, sending out a messenger should be a policy violation.

I do think that it'd be helpful to have some kind of automated system to handle the 'panicked bystander' effect, whenever truly panic-worthy things happen - perhaps automated crowds in city streets that seem agitated when there's conflict nearby, and actively scream and shout about the presence of demons or displays of magery. I have further thoughts about crowds and how they might be interacted with as objects, from other MUD-type design ideas I've thrown around (like the ability to 'pick' an NPC out of a crowd to act as a handy pickpocket victim, or having commands to blend into crowds to more easily hide in them), and I could try to write out a spec for this if people are interested.

Lastly, I think a lot of our problems could be solved by implementing some way that "combat" could be initiated without any actual attacking involved, and maybe be expanded a bit to incorporate other kinds of conflict, like threats or chase scenes. This will help instigators hold people at knife point without them just turning around and walking away or casually hiring a messenger to sic the entire playerbase on them.

I always figured this was the case, regardless of explicit helpfiles stating as much. I mean, you codewise lose money, so while it's not impossible for the crier to also be a pickpocket, it seems unfeasible they would want to both steal from you AND call people to come help you out.

There's a "local" field which defaults to you paying a messenger, and while you (the general you) can change it there's still a coded [Message] tag, so you're clearly still intentionally SENDING the thing. That plus the fact that you are already literally paying for it regardless what message you put where means it's pretty abusive if we have to call this out as policy.

That said, if it's gotta be done, it's gotta be done.
