11:20:55p |
11:20:55p | Lorrent states, "I threw in a forum post, but could we look at limiting or balancing certain mage powers so RP isn't halted for 6 hours after the scene is over? Specifically I'm looking at vines, which can't be cut down, burned, ripped apart, but they're vines."

11:22:13p |
11:22:13p | Bofaha states, "Make them too short and average combat will be long enough to escape them"
11:22:13p |
11:22:35p |
11:22:35p | Lorrent states, "I was locked into a scene and it was a great use of them, imo. Not to go into detail but it left Lorrent one way to go and that was toward the RP. But, after the scene... It was many many RL hours. I don't know, I went to bed."
11:22:35p |
11:22:36p |
11:22:36p | Jakob claims, "Probably should make them max out at like three hours"
11:22:36p |
11:23:15p |

11:23:15p |
11:23:24p |
11:23:24p | Taunya wonders, "The icewall spell is good since you can bash it, causing possible injury. firewalls you can run through, causing possible injury, but vines you're just stuck unless maybe you have a very rare item?"
11:23:24p |
11:23:27p |
11:23:27p | Jakob claims, "There is really no reason for them to last the six that fifth circle gives"
11:23:27p |
11:23:45p |
11:23:45p | Rakelle claims, "You would think you could set that stuff on fire"

11:23:47p |
11:23:47p | Bofaha agrees with Jakob
11:23:47p |
11:24:05p | sayto Rakelle it's all magery, logic doesn't apply
11:24:05p | Bofaha states to Rakelle, "It's all magery, logic doesn't apply"
11:24:05p |
11:24:05p | Jakob says, "Or let the mage take them down"
11:24:05p |
11:24:12p |
11:24:12p | Rakelle claims, "True that"
11:24:12p |
11:24:21p |
11:24:21p | Lorrent claims, "Maybe even a long, long, interruptible threaded hacking action that can only be done from the side the vines were cast from, or something. So outsiders can't bash into a scene but once it was done if no one is there to interrupt, someone can get out."
11:24:21p |
11:24:23p |
11:24:23p | Lorrent states, "Idk."
11:24:23p |
11:24:29p |
11:24:29p | Jakob says, "So they can untrap people at some point"
11:24:29p |
11:24:39p |
11:24:39p | Temi states, "I don't know if they specifically shouldn't be able to be gotten through, or if we just haven't ever coded anything for it."
11:24:39p |
11:24:39p | Taunya nods at Lorrent.
11:24:39p |
11:25:12p | emote doesn't mind if barriers are, well, barriers, just they have to be used responsibly, not randomly thrown in hotspots
11:25:12p |
11:25:12p | Bofaha doesn't mind if barriers are, well, barriers, just they have to be used responsibly, not randomly thrown in hotspots
11:25:12p |
11:26:10p |
11:26:10p | Rakelle states, "Hotspot placement can herd people. Useful in some situations. But if stays a long time, yah, its kind of a problem for those who just show up later and cant get where they are going."
11:26:10p |
11:26:22p |
11:26:22p | Temi says, "I don't think the use was particularly random. But hotspots can be a reason too"
11:26:22p |
11:26:39p | sayto Temi this case most likely not, but we did had hotspot barrier few weeks ago
11:26:39p | Bofaha says to Temi, "This case most likely not, but we did had hotspot barrier few weeks ago"
11:26:39p |
11:26:44p | emote shudders
11:26:44p |
11:26:44p | Bofaha shudders
11:26:44p |
11:26:45p | Temi nods at Bofaha.
11:26:45p |
11:26:52p |
11:26:52p | Temi says, "I don't recall the details then."
11:26:52p |
11:27:16p |
11:27:16p | Temi says, "Okay, we'll discuss duration amongst the staff."
11:27:16p |
11:27:50p |
11:27:50p | Nadya claims, "A little late on this, but I don't think magery should just throw reason out the window. The reasons should be obscured and esoteric, sure."
11:27:50p |
11:28:05p |
11:28:05p | Nadya states, "I mean, as was said. You can bash ice and walk through fire."
11:28:05p |
11:28:11p |
11:28:11p | Temi questions, "Okay... anything else we ought to know about on the RP front this week?"
11:28:11p |
11:28:13p | Temi nods at Nadya.
11:28:13p |
11:28:57p |
11:28:57p | Nadya states, "Met a few newbies, on the RP front. They're really good, just want to put that out there as a general compliment. The new wave of characters seem pretty cool."
11:28:57p |
11:29:17p |
11:29:17p | Jakob says, "Sphere of Lenoir is the best barrier spell and it has no realism at all"
11:29:17p |
11:29:38p |
11:29:38p | Temi exclaims, "That's great to hear!"
11:29:38p |
11:29:46p |
11:29:46p | Temi claims, "The newbies, not the sphere."
11:29:46p |
11:29:46p | Temi grins.
11:29:46p |
11:29:56p | sayto Temi almost pressed enter, bah!
11:29:56p | Bofaha declares to Temi, "Almost pressed enter, bah!"
11:29:56p |
11:30:00p |
11:30:00p | Nadya claims, "Not realism, reason. If it's a fire, you can walk through with a penalty. Bash down ice with penalty/etc."
11:30:00p |
11:30:21p |
11:30:21p | Nadya muses, "Mind if I raise a subject, at the tail end of this?"
11:30:21p |
11:30:29p |
11:30:29p | Temi says, "I'll put you on the list"
11:30:29p |
11:30:32p |
11:30:32p | Nadya declares, "Thanks!"
11:30:32p |
11:30:40p |
11:30:40p | Temi questions, "Okay, shall we move on to player topics then. Bofaha, you had something?"
11:30:40p |
11:30:48p | say a topic to discuss even!
11:30:48p |
11:30:48p | Bofaha declares, "A topic to discuss even!"
11:30:48p |
11:30:50p | say Today's one will be simple, and one I didn't want to raise even though I've written it long ago, but, well, wedge and run keep on happening apparently. So my suggestion is as straightforward as making little hillmen. When someone sticks doors in a room where: law patrols or there is an NPC + the perpetrator has left the room then the wedging object will be taken out by (v)NPCs after few OOC seconds. It's insane that wedging in above conditions continues to happen, absolutely ignoring not only vNPCs but also NPCs lately, either of which would quickly un-jam the doors on which someone bangs from the inside.
11:30:50p |
11:30:50p | Bofaha claims, "Today's one will be simple, and one I didn't want to raise even though I've written it long ago, but, well, wedge and run keep on happening apparently. 11:30:50p |
11:31:32p |
11:31:32p | Taunya says, "Sounds reasonable."
11:31:32p |
11:31:57p |
11:31:57p | Azarial says, "Bash should knock the wedge loose"
11:31:57p |
11:32:00p |
11:32:00p | Temi claims, "It's an interesting idea. I don't know how easy it would be to implement."
11:32:00p |
11:32:15p | sayto Azarial you can, but even with high strength that puts you in wounds for 2-3 OOC days
11:32:15p | Bofaha states to Azarial, "You can, but even with high strength that puts you in wounds for 2-3 OOC days"
11:32:15p |
11:32:24p | say for someones literal wedge and run
11:32:24p |
11:32:24p | Bofaha says, "For someones literal wedge and run"
11:32:24p |
11:32:28p |
11:32:28p | Jakob states, "I like where wedge is now, personally. "
11:32:28p |
11:32:47p |
11:32:47p | Jakob states, "It stops someone from just walking out"
11:32:47p |
11:32:55p |
11:32:55p | Jakob says, "But if they pay the price they can break through"
11:32:55p |
11:32:57p |
11:32:57p | Azarial claims, "Prolly be faster than the compromise on the auto dewedging."
11:32:57p |
11:32:58p |
11:32:58p | Rakelle says, "I think wedge is good, there is a physical cost to escape, but its not unescapable"
11:32:58p |
11:33:36p | say The case is strictly for wedge AND run, not just wedge and loot etc
11:33:36p |
11:33:36p | Bofaha states, "The case is strictly for wedge AND run, not just wedge and loot etc"
11:33:36p |
11:33:46p | say when perp locks someone in and then goes away
11:33:46p |
11:33:46p | Bofaha says, "When perp locks someone in and then goes away"
11:33:46p |
11:33:47p |
11:33:47p | Temi asks, "Is wedge cheaper to bash out of than a locked door now?"
11:33:47p |
11:34:00p |
11:34:00p | Jakob says, "Depends on the lock"
11:34:00p |
11:34:04p |
11:34:04p | Jakob claims, "Or the door"
11:34:04p |
11:34:05p |
11:34:05p | Jakob claims, "I think"
11:34:05p |
11:34:11p | sayto Jakob door
11:34:11p | Bofaha claims to Jakob, "Door"
11:34:11p |
11:34:17p |
11:34:17p | Taunya says, "I think auto-unwedging in patrolled areas at least makes sense, if someone just wedges and runs. Somewhere out in a quieter part of the city? as-is."
11:34:17p |
11:35:05p |
11:35:05p | Lorrent states, "I like wedge and the idea that cnotes and common sense will be used. I could walk up to a door in real life and jam something in it and people would look at me weird if they even noticed, but I really doubt in a high traffic area anyone would care much."
11:35:05p |
11:35:22p | sayto Lorrent common sense sadly has not been used
11:35:22p | Bofaha says to Lorrent, "Common sense sadly has not been used"
11:35:22p |
11:35:26p | say repeatedly
11:35:26p |
11:35:26p | Bofaha says, "Repeatedly"
11:35:26p |
11:36:05p | say And no idea why wouldn't vnpcs care about banging on door from local tavern "SOMEONE LOCKED US IN"
11:36:06p |
11:36:06p | Bofaha says, "And no idea why wouldn't vnpcs care about banging on door from local tavern "SOMEONE LOCKED US IN""
11:36:06p |
11:36:19p |
11:36:19p | Lorrent says, "In the case of a violation or mis-use of a command, I'd prefer staff can just addressing the single issue one way or the other and not nerf the wedge command, which has a lot of cool potential imo."
11:36:19p |
11:37:05p |
11:37:05p | Lorrent states, "Grammar was great there."
11:37:05p |
11:37:18p | sayto Lorrent because it makes no sense. You have hordes of vpncs moving those roads, or just outright npcs there, who right now are ignored when that happens
11:37:19p | Bofaha states to Lorrent, "Because it makes no sense. You have hordes of vpncs moving those roads, or just outright npcs there, who right now are ignored when that happens"
11:37:19p |
11:37:54p |
11:37:54p | Temi claims, "I worry that vnpcs automatically doing anything after a certain amount of time tends to be difficult code"
11:37:54p |
11:38:10p | Taunya asks of Bofaha, "Has it happened anytime in the last week?"
11:38:10p |
11:38:14p |
11:38:14p | Jakob says, "I dislike this move of having vnpcs play a large part in the game"

11:38:16p | sayto Taunya yep
11:38:16p | Bofaha claims to Taunya, "Yep"
11:38:16p |

11:38:18p | Lorrent says, "That's just generally policy isn't it, with help vnpc? A vnpc guard might not even care if you stab someone."
11:38:18p |
11:38:18p | Rakelle says, "That happens in all kinds of ways on a game like this, like standing all day long in the same spot as the sun rises and sets, and its only been a few hours. We all ignore that no one got hungry, or thirsty, or cold, or had to pee, its a limit of the code"
11:38:18p |
11:38:33p |
11:38:33p | Jakob states, "You can't interact with them, bully them, kill them, threaten them, kiss them"
11:38:33p |
11:38:33p | Nadya states, "Well, alright. How about this."
11:38:33p |
11:38:35p |
11:38:35p | Lorrent says, "Maybe everyone is too busy pulling out their medieval cell phones and taking videos for worldstar to open and unwedge the door"
11:38:35p |
11:39:01p | sayto Jakob they already do through plots
11:39:01p | Bofaha claims to Jakob, "They already do through plots"
11:39:01p |
11:39:23p |
11:39:23p | Nadya muses, "Why not an unwedging timer on 'lawful' areas? Like, if it's been wedged for the last few OOC hours, it procs an unwedge command?"
11:39:23p |
11:39:30p | say this just removes the nonsense of sending out a messenger for someone to come and remove a dagger from under the door hours after the perp left
11:39:30p |
11:39:30p | Bofaha says, "This just removes the nonsense of sending out a messenger for someone to come and remove a dagger from under the door hours after the perp left"
11:39:30p |
11:39:37p |
11:39:37p | Jakob claims, "That's different. I can at least kill an NPC guarding something"
11:39:37p |
11:39:45p |
11:39:45p | Jakob claims, "I think wedging and running might be a problem"
11:39:45p |

11:40:09p |
11:40:09p | Bofaha claims, "Seriously"
11:40:09p |
11:40:35p | Lorrent says to Bofaha, "I'm imagining messengers running out of windows now to go get someone"
11:40:35p |
11:40:47p |
11:40:47p | Temi asks, "Maybe instead of a timer, if it happened on attempting to open it, and no players on the other side, but supposed vnpcs?"
11:40:47p |
11:40:47p | sayto Lorrent been done... on multiple occasions of this happening
11:40:47p | Bofaha trails off to Lorrent, "Been done... on multiple occasions of this happening"
11:40:47p |
11:40:48p | Temi ponders.
11:40:48p |
11:40:50p |
11:40:50p | Nadya states, "Right, even doing it like this, in lawful areas, is a flagrant disregard for vNPC populace. See the helpfile on twinking. People would notice you wedging the doors to the town's butchery within moments."
11:40:50p |
11:40:55p | sayto Temi or that
11:40:55p | Bofaha states to Temi, "Or that"
11:40:55p |
11:41:13p |
11:41:13p | Nadya muses, "If not an unwedge, then perhaps an alert to the Town Guard?"
11:41:13p |
11:41:15p | Elizabethany sneezes loudly.
11:41:15p |
11:41:30p |
11:41:30p | Jakob states, "Sure, have a wedge in a public area report"
11:41:30p |
11:41:34p |
11:41:34p | Taunya claims, "Wedging should perhaps have a timer in general. I've bought keys to rooms in inns that have been left wedged long after the occupant left"
11:41:34p |
11:41:41p |
11:41:41p | Jakob claims, "That could work"
11:41:41p |
11:41:41p | Lorrent states to Nadya, "From help vnpc, without RPA, "The city guard will not intervene. It may be for any reason. The reason, however, is not defined. Maybe the city guard just thought the person getting killed deserved to die, was bribed, whatever. Regardless, the present city guard did not interfere. ""
11:41:41p |
11:41:55p | Lorrent states to Nadya, "And that's someone being murdered in public in front of a guard."
11:41:55p |
11:41:56p |
11:41:56p | Nadya says, "Right, Lorrent, but here's the deal."
11:41:56p |
11:42:29p |
11:42:29p | Nadya states, "You're not supposed to walk in, ignoring things like that in the middle of public."
11:42:29p |
11:42:41p |
11:42:41p | Nadya says, "As an antagonist, it's just silly."
11:42:41p |
11:42:53p | say yep, just because there are no players, doesn't mean vNPCs don't see
11:42:53p |
11:42:53p | Bofaha states, "Yep, just because there are no players, doesn't mean vNPCs don't see"
11:42:53p |
11:42:58p |
11:42:58p | Taunya nods in agreement with Nadya.
11:42:58p |
11:43:09p | say and assuming that cloak is enough cover from vNPCs is borderline twinking
11:43:09p |
11:43:09p | Bofaha says, "And assuming that cloak is enough cover from vNPCs is borderline twinking"
11:43:09p |
11:43:14p | Lorrent claims to Nadya, "I'm not arguing with that. I just think if someone is messing around and twinking, it sounds more like a player policy issue."
11:43:14p |
11:43:15p | say if you ask this reporter
11:43:16p |
11:43:16p | Bofaha claims, "If you ask this reporter"
11:43:16p |
11:43:48p | sayto Lorrent policy cases take time, usually. And this was already raised to one but.. well... it's still affecting pbase
11:43:48p | Bofaha trails off to Lorrent, "Policy cases take time, usually. And this was already raised to one but.. well... it's still affecting pbase"
11:43:48p |
11:44:01p |
11:44:01p | Rakelle muses, "Is everyone sure this is all being done by one player?"
11:44:01p |
11:44:02p |
11:44:02p | Nadya states, "Staff cannot be expected to handle every action on their own. If wedging in lawful areas (Non-southside) is such a growing issue, an alarm would allow the issue to be handled IC'ly, rather than OOC'ly."
11:44:02p |
11:44:23p |
11:44:23p | Temi says, "I'll put down a note to discuss among the staff about should vnpcs unwedge in public places somehow"

11:44:34p |
11:44:41p |
11:44:41p | Lorrent says, "But also assuming vnpcs care about your problems or that you got locked in. They have stuff to do, too, that doesn't involve a wedged door. Idk. I think everyone is agreeing run-and-wedging doesn't seem to generate any RP."
11:44:41p |
11:44:43p | say I just hate to use code to solve problems heh, it kills me
11:44:43p |
11:44:43p | Bofaha claims, "I just hate to use code to solve problems heh, it kills me"
11:44:43p |
11:44:59p |
11:44:59p | Temi wonders, "Okay, Nadya, you have a topic?"
11:44:59p |
11:45:54p |
11:45:54p | Nadya says, "Well, Lorrent, there's suspension of disbelief, and then there's the issue of being allowed to ignore the crowd with zero consequence."
11:45:54p |
11:45:59p |
11:45:59p | Nadya exclaims, "Ah! Thankies!"
11:45:59p |
11:46:27p |
11:46:27p | Nadya claims, "Say I feel as though the Daravi Front may be getting a little too oversaturated. Please, with anyone with a current character with connections to it directly, do not take immediate offense, this is simply of people who have come before. We have had people make various mentions of 'Trench warfare' occurring, and have had previous people openly admitting to confirmed heresy with saying they've murdered captive mages with pride without burning (Effecitvely damning each and every one to the abyss-- Captives). I feel as though we've had many commanders and soldiers from it, who bring forward a bit too many opposing and conflicting stories of what actually happens on the Front, to the point that even some have made mention of a Modern-ish military ranking system."
11:46:27p |
11:46:41p |
11:46:41p | Nadya wonders, "In short, is this how it's supposed to happen, with the Front?"
11:46:41p |
11:47:58p |
11:47:58p | Azarial claims, "Sounds like a lot of people not reading hthe helpfiles."
11:47:58p |
11:48:37p |
11:48:37p | Nadya states, "We've had nobility in the past who've been Commanders, using this logic, and I'm just confused at where even half of this comes from."
11:48:37p |
11:48:42p |
11:48:42p | Temi says, "We don't oversee people's backstories, in general, and it's not necessarily a problem if one plot hook has been appealing to a large number of different people."

11:48:51p | Safir is idle.

11:49:44p |
11:49:44p | Nadya claims, "The bigger issue that I'd like to make note of, is the flagrant heretical undertones, and questionable tactics for the time period."
11:49:44p |
11:50:07p |
11:50:07p | Temi states, "But anyway, yeah.. just killing mages is bad."
11:50:07p |
11:50:13p | say well, heretical undertones can be tackled by reporting them to a local inquisiorial branch for purpose of faith review

11:50:21p |
11:50:32p |
11:50:32p | Temi says, "Even the Daravi ones, to prevent demons."
11:50:32p |
11:50:44p |
11:50:44p | Nadya says, "Because IC is IC, it happens. Non-con. How should it be handled, when three Knights admit to killing mages with impunity, to the point that it's a tad jarring."
11:50:44p |
11:50:48p | say Aye, because every dead mage, not burned, creates more demons

11:50:48p |
11:51:43p |
11:51:43p | Temi says, "I do think there's some issue of people not knowing how to handle the medieval military stuff there, and I'm certainly not an expert in it."
11:51:43p |
11:51:53p |
11:51:53p | Taunya states, "I could perhaps understand needing trenches against magic wielders, but not sure if that'd be thematic or not. might still be more likely to have palisades and such."
11:51:53p |
11:52:11p |
11:52:11p | Azarial states, "Palisades are a lot less likly to just swallow you whole."
11:52:11p |
11:52:22p | say trenches and medieval warfare didn't mix, it was all about manevours

11:52:23p |
11:52:31p |
11:52:31p | Nadya questions, "Of course, but who do you handle it when it's the Order, one of which an Earl Marshal, admits to something that every Davite agrees is heresy?"
11:52:31p |
11:52:40p |
11:52:40p | Azarial says, "Poison."
11:52:40p |

11:53:42p |
11:53:55p |
11:53:55p | Nadya states, "I've assisted them the helpfile about burning mages, and more-or-less got ganged up on."
11:53:55p |
11:53:55p | Lorrent claims, "Do regular civvies know that mages ought to be burned? Or why? Or is that something that's been kind of kept from them? The only help file I recall is an order one."
11:53:55p |
11:54:00p |
11:54:00p | Nadya says, "Yes."

11:54:09p |
11:54:11p |
11:54:11p | Nadya states, "It's utterly common knowledge. It's the most important thing."

11:54:53p |
11:54:56p |
11:54:56p | Taunya nods, "Pretty sure it's in the Erra Pater on why mages should be burned."
11:54:56p |
11:55:14p | say To be burned, horrific as it may seem, is a far kinder fate for mages
11:55:14p | than to die uncleansed. Mages who are not cleansed will not simply be
11:55:14p | devoured, as other sinful souls are; instead, they will be twisted and
11:55:14p | transformed into demons themselves, low creatures of pure evil. Tormented
11:55:14p | themselves, they also will torment others for a cold and lonely eternity.
11:55:14p |
11:55:14p | Temi says, "I was thinking something a little more pointed with 'It's not acceptable to kill mages without burning, and no good Davite would want to do it'"
11:55:14p |

11:22:35p |
11:22:36p |
11:22:36p | Jakob claims, "Probably should make them max out at like three hours"

11:24:29p |
11:24:39p |
11:24:39p | Temi states, "I don't know if they specifically shouldn't be able to be gotten through, or if we just haven't ever coded anything for it."
11:24:39p |
11:24:39p | Taunya nods at Lorrent.
11:24:39p |

11:26:22p |
11:26:22p | Temi says, "I don't think the use was particularly random. But hotspots can be a reason too"

11:29:38p |

11:29:56p |

11:34:17p |
11:35:05p |
11:35:05p | Lorrent states, "I like wedge and the idea that cnotes and common sense will be used. I could walk up to a door in real life and jam something in it and people would look at me weird if they even noticed, but I really doubt in a high traffic area anyone would care much."

11:36:06p |

11:37:19p |
11:37:54p |
11:37:54p | Temi claims, "I worry that vnpcs automatically doing anything after a certain amount of time tends to be difficult code"
11:37:54p |
11:38:10p | Taunya asks of Bofaha, "Has it happened anytime in the last week?"
11:38:10p |
11:38:14p |

11:38:18p | Rakelle says, "That happens in all kinds of ways on a game like this, like standing all day long in the same spot as the sun rises and sets, and its only been a few hours. We all ignore that no one got hungry, or thirsty, or cold, or had to pee, its a limit of the code"
11:38:18p |
11:38:33p |
11:38:33p | Jakob states, "You can't interact with them, bully them, kill them, threaten them, kiss them"

11:38:33p |

11:39:37p |

11:44:41p |
11:44:41p | Lorrent says, "But also assuming vnpcs care about your problems or that you got locked in. They have stuff to do, too, that doesn't involve a wedged door. Idk. I think everyone is agreeing run-and-wedging doesn't seem to generate any RP."
11:44:41p |
11:44:43p | say I just hate to use code to solve problems heh, it kills me
11:44:43p |

11:44:43p |

11:50:07p |

11:50:13p |

11:52:23p |
11:52:31p |
11:52:31p | Nadya questions, "Of course, but who do you handle it when it's the Order, one of which an Earl Marshal, admits to something that every Davite agrees is heresy?"
11:52:31p |
11:52:40p |
11:52:40p | Azarial says, "Poison."

11:53:55p |
11:54:00p |

11:54:09p |
