Posted: Sat Oct 07, 2017 6:23 pm
Temi states, "Alright! Agenda for today is, as usual, 1) staff updates, 2) player heartbeat, 3) player topics."
Temi states, "I'll go ahead and start off staff updates."
Temi says, "Az and I have been working on asset objects! All of the objects are in the system and ready to go and we're just working on sorting out a few remaining bugs before we can release them to everyone."
Steven queries, "What kind of objects? Like can I get an asset that provides bananas?"
Temi states, "Thanks to everyone for your patience over this week with the few crashes related to that work. You can expect shiny new objects soon."
Taunya queries, "Can you add any item to an asset, or will they be tied to the metric?"
Temi says, "That sort of thing! I don't think bananas are on there specifically, but there are like pineapples and carrots and things like that, as well as crafting items."
Empena questions, "Will these be in addition to or instead of a silver asset? Will there be a purchase or swap period?"
Temi has transferred Vicannia. [OOC]
Temi gives a whimsical toy ship with squeaky wheels and painted arrow to Vicannia.
Dorian claims, "Is it possible to choose what your merit gives you object wise? I say that as a guy who runs a shipping company IC."
Temi claims, "These will be an add-on to your existing asset, level 2 or level 3. You can select any item from the list, regardless of metric, but you do need to explain how it makes sense."
Taunya declares, "Sounds good!"
Temi says, "The object will then be available for purchase by you at any time, possibly for a discount, in addition to your silver."
Dorian says, "OOH! That sounds nice."
Vicannia passes a whimsical toy ship with squeaky wheels and painted arrow to a member of the Holy Order of Dav for the Alms box.
Temi states, "There's also limits on how many people can take a single object - one item can't account for more than 5% of the total objects when it's selected."
Temi says, "And the cost of objects is related to the base silver cost of the object."
Empena questions, "Like a single thing like ... 50 people can't have pineapples?"
Steven states, "So if I own a brothel can I get strumpets solace, etc? Asking for a friend."
Dorian imports herbs, spices and medicine making stuffs. To stock his guild with.
Temi nods at Empena.
Dorian claims, "Just ask a sneaky physican...RP it."
Nadya claims, "Plenty of cheap ways to prevent preggers."
Temi claims to Steven, "I don't recall if strumpet's solace is on there, but there's ingredients for it that would be."
Steven states, "It was a joke."
Bofaha says, "Abstinence comes to mind"
Temi grins.
Nadya questions, "I wonder. What would it be like to have a pimp as a Justicar?"
Steven claims, "Ees on good authority, a Vavardi knows hees methods."
Nadya muses, "Would punishments be backhands, instead of whippings?"
Janus questions, "Are we still talking about the brothel?"
Bofaha states, "About a brothel"
Steven states to Nadya, "Lucky we dont need to know the answer."
Temi states, "Okay.. any more questions about asset objects? We'll make sure it's fully explained when it comes out."
Eirian states, "None here. Sounds great."
Temi declaims, "Look forwards to making that available for people. Should be especially great for trader concepts!"
Temi questions, "Okay, I'll pass the floor off to Az.. you have an update on what you've done this week?"
Bofaha wants a turtle farm asset htat gives out turtles
Empena questions, "When that happens, will the RPA be available to investigate that stuff?"
Nadya claims, "Huh. That would be pretty interesting."
Kinaed steps out of your shadow. [OOC]
Nadya states to Kinaed, "I guess you can say you're-- Shady."
Kinaed claims, "Sorry, timezone shift and my daughter's birthday today."
Azarial claims, "Well, rl has been shittier than usual, so my concentration hasn;t been the best. hence the crashes. temi a;ready coverd the assets, and I thought i'd work on a small naming issue in recoms while waiting for testing. that has tutned into an entire week of migration of data objects"
Niamh flings herself bodily at Kinaed.
Temi says, "We don't yet have plans on how to investigate assets, but I'll make a note to bring that up again to discuss."
Temi asks of Kinaed, "That's fine! Want to take back over or have me lead?"
Bofaha settles for more witeld handshake with Kinaed "Happy bday!"
Kinaed says, "You can continue; I need to shower then pick up party food, etc."
Temi nods at Kinaed.
Temi nods at Azarial.
Steven exclaims, "Happy birthday mini Kinaed!"
Temi muses to Kinaed, "Have a quick update for us before you slip off again?"
Kinaed states to Steven, "It's Imagen's on Monday, Oct 9th. Just having a party for her today."
Kinaed declaims, "Um, I didn't do much last week. Logged in, processed a few things. No policy (thanks everyone!)"
Steven states, "Thats awesome still"
Bofaha declares to Kinaed, "Glad to be of help!"
Kinaed says, "On my desk - Jail Automation, Roles UI. Nothing else."
Temi nods at Kinaed.
Kinaed states, "One day I will clear Jail Automation."
Temi says, "Okay, back to Az's code stuff... checking updated notes."
Kinaed claims, "That's it for me."
Temi trails off, "Looks like mostly bug fixes in addition to those things..."
Steven eats a week's worth of hardy rations tied up with crossing twine.
Steven takes a rough bite of preserved meat.
Temi pontificates, "Okay, on to Niamh!"
Kinaed has gone AFK.
Steven says, "Niamh nomnom"
Niamh claims, "This week the project I focused on was finishing the new Tubori Quarter so it could be reopened. I spent the greatest majority of my week on that. I went through all the guilds and added temporary and permanent writs, included them at the GL shops, and wrote a little helpfile on them. The remainder was the usual requests/typos/recommends and such! That's it for me."
Temi pontificates, "Awesome job getting that new Tubori Quarter out!"
Niamh declaims to Temi, "Thanks!"
Taunya wonders, "Will the quarter be limited to the ship, or does it branch out into the existing parts?"
Temi claims, "For anyone not aware, our little ship today is in commemoration of that new quarter."
Bofaha exclaims to Niamh, "Yet to have to go and visit but awesome anyway!"
Niamh says, "The Quarter is as it is right now."
Niamh claims to Bofaha, "Dooo iiit."
Bofaha says to Niamh, "When more able to"
Steven says, "I have something to say about the ship"
Taunya hasn't visited. Is afeared of boats.
Eirian claims, "Haven't seen it yet, but it's a pretty neat idea."
Nadya asks, "Can I eat the ship?"
Temi asks of Steven, "Oh?"
Vicannia claims, "The new quarter certainly is something amazing."
Dorian cheers for Niamh.
Temi wonders to Nadya, "Are you a termite?"
Niamh claims to Nadya, "You can try. I mean, it might work."
Nadya eats a whimsical toy ship with squeaky wheels and painted arrow.
Steven claims, "Was pretty cool of yall to include player involvement on that. The ic event with the ships delivery was great."
Eirian nods.
Arlow is idle.
Arlow is no longer idle.
Arlow has returned from AFK.
Dorian says, "I thought it was well done as well. Involving players was a wonderful way to do that."
Niamh claims, "It was a really fun project from start to finish, not the least of which was the amount of player involvement."
Dorian feels like his own ship is tiny in comparison....
Niamh grins at Dorian.
Nadya declaims, "Don't feel insecure about the size of your ship!"
Janus claims to Dorian, "It's not the size of your mast but how you use it."
Bofaha states, "There is always someone with a bigger ship"
Dorian builds more ship.
Vicannia states, "Most ships would be... and I'm actually the one who wrote the ic event."
Niamh nods at Vicannia.
Niamh claims, "Monstership."
Steven claims, "A leviathan"
Nadya states, "Ive a question"
Nadya says, "If tiny ships attached to the big ship"
Eirian pontificates to Vicannia, "That much was obvious. Well done, though!"
Nadya states, "Is it an alien mothership"
Vicannia states to Steven, "I think Niamh actually called it a juggernaut icly"
Nadya trails off, "Geddit. Because... Foreign alien..."
Steven states, "Potatoes Potawtos"
Janus flashes a thumbs up to Nadya.
Niamh claims, "It was kinda loosely based on this, design-wise: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caligula%27s_Giant_Ship"
Nadya flops to the side, exploding like a hand-grenade.
Temi grins.
Taunya says, "So, having not vistied, is the quarter the ship only now? Asking in regards to phomes for the area, which would be wood only now I suppose if so."
Robin says, "There's a street for phomes"
Robin states, "Highwalk Street"
Niamh claims to Taunya, "There is a riverbank neighborhood freshly erected alongside it."
Eirian says, "Kewl."
Sauvaige is idle.
Sauvaige is no longer idle.
Sauvaige has returned from AFK.
Vicannia recommends people really do take a look.
Eirian states, "Also, I don't know if anyone willingly gave up their phome in the fire, but if so, mad kudos."
Temi asks, "Okay, anything else for Niamh, or should we move on to heartbeat?"
Nadya says, "I bet the tubori there are scared about someone raising anchor and shanghai'ing them to the highest bidder on the Kirulean."
Niamh exclaims to Temi, "Done here!"
Temi says, "I don't think we had any active phomes in the Tubori quarter before hand."
Vicannia muses to Nadya, "Did you see what had to be done to get it into the city?"
Niamh nods at Temi.
Nadya claims, "I know, I know, just think of the profits in human trafficking though."
Temi exclaims, "There also wasn't really residential space for them either, so this helps that!"
Janus muses to Vicannia, "Super-oxen, wasn't it?"
Eirian grins at Temi.
Vicannia states, "Oxen and pulleys"
Nadya claims, "I was kidiiing."
Temi wonders, "Okay! Transitioning on to Player Heartbeat.. how's RP this weeks folks? How's everyone feeling about the game?"
Nadya states, "Pretty dang good."
Vicannia laughs "Up until yesterday rp was great."
Sauvaige states, "Need to give a big shout out to Vicannia. This campaign has been A+, first time I've been involved in political roleplay and its been heated has heck. "
Eirian states, "I don't usually comment during heartbeat, but I just want to say to the folks involved in the Seneschal race and debate yesterday: awesome job keeping things interesting. Most fun I've had at a political thing in a long time. Including all the lead-up to the actual debate."
Vicannia trails off, "Always great when it's never at the cost of your own characters..."
Nadya claims, "The debate was actually interesting for once. It wasn't just two people talking to eachother. It included almost everyone in the crowd."
Eirian claims, "The machinations and intrigue are the best part."
Janus says, "Yes, the campaign has been really interesting to watch develop. Vicannia has done really well for her influences and events posts."
Temi exclaims, "Make sure to provide shout-outs in recommendation form as well!"
Dorian is doing good! I haven't been around quite as much as I would like but between practicing my crafting, gardening, and fun RP I'm good. I would like more RP with my guild soon though!
Robin claims to Vicannia, "If you don't want to lose your character, don't do things that would warrant their arrest -.-"
Nadya states, "It was good, either way! Everyone involved was a good sport."
Eirian nods at Nadya.
Temi exclaims, "I think it's entirely fair to not want bad things to happen to your character, even if you put them at risk. It's awesome for the game when people are willing to take those risks!"
Steven states to Robin, "No need for that."
Vicannia glances to Robin "Don't speak of things you don't know. You can be the safest character and cover all your tracks, but you can never plan for someone else deciding to betray you."
Nadya says, "Hey, hey."
Eirian exclaims, "Betrayal is the best part!"
Eirian claims, "But yeah, what Temi said."
Temi claims, "You don't have to want bad things to happen to put yourself into a position where they might."
Steven states, "It'll be cool to see how things go."
Temi nods.
Temi says, "It doesn't seem like things are quite done yet."
Steven states, "Indeed"
Temi muses, "Anything else on anyone's mind about the state of the game in general? Anything shitting anyone?"
Eirian states, "Sometimes, innocents are caught up in the bad deeds of others, too."
Vicannia hooks their thumb over their neck, making the typical death sign "No, the pyring is planned for after the ooc meeting."
Steven claims, "So long as ooc feelings arent involved on either side, its no bad thing."
Eirian says, "You don't have to play a bad character to end up on the pyre, etc."
Steven muses, "The pyring is already planned...?"
Dorian nods in agreement.
Vicannia nods to Steven "Exactly. Life's too short to hate another player just because they are doing their job."
Janus claims, "I'd like to add my 'shitting me' thing"
Temi wonders to Janus, "More than your topic later? Or instead of it, but go ahead"
Robin has been transferred out by Temi. [OOC]
Empena is idle.
Bofaha claims to Eirian, "Eh kinda, you have to step on someone toes. "bad" is very relative"
Janus states, "More than, yes. A lot of OOC emotions are getting involved recently and I'm finding it harder to tell people OOCly that I'm playing a role with defined rules. It's hard to do that when I'm in a covert guild that is literally the most mysterious."
Empena is no longer idle.
Empena has returned from AFK.
Eirian claims, "Nah. I've seen people with good intentions get the short end, too."
Temi nods at Janus.
Eirian states, "But as long as it's in the spirit of RP and within policy, them's the breaks that kick you in the feels."
Janus says, "Without doing a Bond Villain 'this is why this happened' speech, I feel there won't be much closure if people's toes get stepped on."
Nadya claims, "There are means of conveying that, that don't require an evil dude monologue."
Nadya states, "Letters that state your intent. Passing them with a whisper of how you're gonna gut them like a fish/etc."
Janus asks of Eirian, "Unfortunately that's my point. Sometimes bad things happen to good characters and they might never know why and I find that irritating. Especially when I've taken some action that someone else has payed for. I don't like being the bad guy... ironic coming from the Rubeus, right?"
Dorian comforts Janus. "Have you considered leaving IC clues or traces that may or may not be tracked back to you? Even if its just visible to your victims?"
Bofaha nods at Dorian.
Bofaha states, "Or giving subtle ic warnings"
Nadya states, "Leaving evidence, while risky, allows for eventually understanding what even happened, for why."
Bofaha claims, "Sure that also compromises the plot of doing bad things but, well "
Bofaha claims, "Either can make it "safe" for you, or make it more even keel"
Steven states, "Tbh I sort of feel sometimes like people are too focused on instant gratification of their own hurt feelings or need to be a 'winner' that they dont take into account the other players involved, innocent/evil/etc."
Temi nods.
Dorian states, "But then no villain is infallible. They often DO leave calling cards or clues for one reason or another."
Bofaha nods at Steven.
Nadya says, "Most of the characters ingame right now seem to be noncombatants anyway. If your target is weak, you can definitely take it slow."
Vicannia shrugs to Dorian "Most of our villians are caught becuase of mail that is found on someone else who is caught. Mail is the most damning thing on this game."
Eirian claims to Janus, "Feel guilty, then? Or use staff to pass along reassuring messages? Not sure what to tell you. I've never felt guilty about destroying anyone ICly in the course of legitimate RP."
Vicannia really feels mail should have a decay timer if it's not posted into a journal or whatnot
Steven says, "Which is why my villains dont tell people things by mail except under alias."
Azarial states, "I would love a lot of items to have a decay. alas."
Vicannia says, "Even alias' can easily be discovered"
Bofaha wonders to Steven, "Is it nevets?"
Safir says, "Mail can be consigned/burned."
Dorian questions, "Ah. But don't we have a system where we can assign different names to our mail? So if that happens its more like 'who is this' rather than 'lets arrest this person'"
Janus states to Vicannia, "That's part of the hell of being a bad guy. Write everything like the Order is going to read it."
Nadya claims, "I mean... Burning letters is a thing."
Azarial states, "Best bet is to 'memorize' it and consign it as soon ass youg et it"
Janus nods.
Azarial claims, "You can sign whatever the hell you want to the mail."
Eirian says, "You can use cnotes to help remember things later or to document things you consign."
Nadya states, "I do that when I send people paintings of my ankles."
Temi grins.
Vicannia smirks to Azarial "That's what I do. I'd rather not have someone screwed simply because I like to hoard letters."
Steven claims, "Mm ankles"
Janus queries to Nadya, "Is this your ankle collection?"
