Log of OOC Meeting - 10/06/2018
Posted: Sat Oct 06, 2018 6:19 pm
Kinaed nods at Golden.
Kinaed claims, "And people listen more when they're not feeling attacked, yeah."
Tasker claims, "Omg i can't believe you said that, Golden"
Golden wonders, "Why not?"
Kinaed muses, "Today's Agenda is:
- Staff Updates
- Player Heartbeat
- Player Topics
Is there anything anyone would like to add to the agenda to make certain we discuss it today?"
Tasker says, "Was joking"
Tasker winds his neck in
Dongo claims, "Woosh"
Raspberries says, "I've got something"
Kirill pontificates, "I have a minor topic and a story-related announcement!"
Kinaed claims, "Kicking off Staff Updates - last week, I didn't do much of anything except field
emails and listen to complaints On my desk - still have jail automation, warrants, and turf wars.
"
Kinaed states, "That's it for me - Azarial, you're up. "
Azarial claims, "I've been working on an assortment of bugs and what not as I get the ideas to solve
them. noble projects have been expanded out a bit, several crash bugs, some typos, some second
person."
Kinaed nods at Kirill.
Kinaed states to Kirill, "Got you"
Kinaed states to Raspberries, "Got you too"
Raspberries nods.
Kirill declaims, "Looking forward to testing out the new noble projects fields. Thank you for all
your hard work on that!"
Azarial says, "Welcome"
Kinaed states to Kirill, "Thanks for your feedback that helped us improve them."
Raspberries muses to Azarial, "Were you able to view the log on the shove bug?"
Azarial says, "Nope."
Raspberries queries, "Can I email it?"
Kinaed says, "Just a few quick things from the changes board - there was a bug with autoguilding
while GLs were active. We believe that is fixed, so GLs can rest easier."
Azarial says, "Just post it plain text. I'm not downloading something I would hgave to comde the
code for to mkae sure it's not going to do something icky."
Kinaed states, "I'm not sure if people are aware yet, but we've also changed how being fined works -
you're no longer barred from banking with your current silver, but your asset wages are garnished
until the fine is paid."
Raspberries ponders on that.
Kinaed states, "A new column in the levy table shows how much has been garnished towards a fine."
Cheeky questions, "Do Reeves have access to information on what someone has for assets?"
Azarial states, "Fines and taxes have been split out for the reeves to track the new data"
Azarial states, "No"
Kinaed says to Cheeky, "No."
Kinaed says, "Our interpretation of this was based on 'how much IC sway do we think the
Reeves/Justiciar has with the banks'"
Cheeky nods.
Dusty nods.
Kinaed states, "The old system was the ability to cut off banking entirely. The new system is the
banks handing over silver."
Golden claims, "That makes sense."
Dusty claims, "Makes more sense yea"
Kinaed claims, "Okay, I think that's everything people would be interested in that I can recall. "
Kinaed pontificates to Temi, "You're up!"
Kirill muses, "Does this mean that someone can now refuse to pay the fine and it's just forcibly
taken from them?"
Kinaed states to Kirill, "Yes."
Kirill nods.
Raspberries states to Kirill, "Sounds like it"
Temi states, "Okay! I've been back to working on magecrafting. I have some things in line that
will be a bit more limiting, so I'm working first on some of the new stuff, because I know people
have been feeling neglected on it."
Kinaed has transferred Hopeful. [OOC]
Tasker declaims, "Awesome!"
Temi states, "I've got a few code requests into Az for magecrafted items we'd previously discussed,
and a new magecrafting item is in now."
Temi gives a spotted, shepherd puppy toy, made from long-haired rabbit to Hopeful.
Hopeful wakes up and starts resting.
Raspberries declares, "Neato!"
GILES stops using a soft doll wound with cloth bandages leaning onto a crutch.
GILES holds a spotted, shepherd puppy toy, made from long-haired rabbit in his hand.
GILES straightens out his puppy toy's tail before bending its tail into a gentle upward curve.
Kinaed has transferred Edony. [OOC]
say Nice
GALAX claims, "Nice"
Edony says, "Gasp."
Golden declares, "Sounds like fun!"
Temi claims, "I'll keep working on it this next week.. and please be understanding when it gets to
the more limiting things. Primarily will be a lot of these things not lasting forever, but relying
on mages to recharge them."
Golden says, "Now we just need a mage brave enough to test them."
Temi gives a spotted, shepherd puppy toy, made from long-haired rabbit to Edony.
Raspberries claims, "Had a question on the proposed improvised changes"
Temi queries, "Okay?"
Kinaed asks of Raspberries, "Yes?"
GALAX says, "Well, I hope this courageous witchcrafter has a good time no matter what happens."
Kinaed nods at GALAX.
Dongo has lost link.
Dongo has reconnected.
Raspberries says, "You mentioned that lightable stuff could cause burn damage, but currently things
cannot be lit while wielded, only when held as a light"
Temi says, "Hm. Good question."
Temi states, "We might remove the 'when lit' requirement, or assume they are lit when held too."
Temi says, "But we'll still need to discuss that."
Kinaed nods at Temi.
Raspberries says, "Works for me, whatever's best."
Kinaed claims to Temi, "Anything else to add? Thanks for focusing on magecraft, by the way."
Temi asks, "Nope, that about does me. Might have the preview of the snuggledragon puppy costume
later today?"
Temi grins.
Kinaed smiles.
Kinaed questions, "Okay, that wraps up Staff Updates. On to Player Heartbeat! How was the game
for folks last week?"
Edony claims, "Thrilling, even if I missed the Big Story."
Raspberries claims, "Oh boy."
Kinaed says, "I hear we've had or will have some stories? Thank you, player storytellers."
Hopeful declaims, "I liked it!!"
Golden states, "I've had some fun RP this week, things have been enjoyable overall for me. I took
some risks here and there and had a blast doing that."
Elizabethany says, "I'm very excited about everything we have coming up on the Troub plate! It
feels like we're in a good place."
Kinaed states, "Please don't forget to put in recommends if you enjoyed it."
GALAX says, "I'm finally in something resembling an actual play rhythm again. Uneventful but glad to
be back."
Kinaed smiles.
Temi claims, "We did have a story, yep. Puppy toy is related to that one."
Raspberries gives galax a thumbs-up.
Temi claims, "I think there's another scheduled for soon too."
Raspberries flips a spotted, shepherd puppy toy, made from long-haired rabbit into the air, and
catches it as it begins its descent.
GALAX dabs.
Kirill claims, "Shepherding a Rescue was a ton of fun -- so glad I wrangled up enough people for it.
"
Edony claims, "I too have had an enjoyable if somewhat uneventful week. I'm pretty sure I
recommended all my partners."
Kinaed states, "I'm glad to hear the overall view of the pbase this week is positive and optimistic.
"
Golden states, "I would also like to try learning the storytelling system at some point. If I can
think of a story."
Kinaed nods at Golden.
Hopeful has gone AFK.
Temi claims, "You are welcome to use the tutorial zone, even before you have an idea for it."
Kinaed claims, "Maybe people can help Golden come up with a story? Sometimes people have ideas, but
no desire to run them."
Kinaed nods at Temi.
Temi says, "Having a feel for the capabilities may help to inspire ideas, too."
Raspberries muses, "Golden lung outbreak?"
Kinaed says to Golden, "Anytime, we can transfer you there - thanks to the player who built the
tutorial zone. Grateful for that."
Kinaed nods at Temi.
Golden declaims, "That would be nice! I wouldn't mind running someone elses idea. And I'll see about
checking out the zone later this evening then!"
Kinaed nods at Golden.
Edony says, "Oh, and by the way, I got my project to success in a week! Which is super cool! Y'all
are pious af and Edony's all about it."
Golden wonders, "Whats the golden lung?"
Golden questions, "Is that like flu?"
Raspberries says to Golden, "Magical disease"
Golden declares, "Oooh!"
Edony would like the record to show that such was probably the only time the words pious af have
been used in TI.
Kinaed has transferred Kenny. [OOC]
Temi claims, "Well, it's a disease. Not necessarily magical, though there was some magic related in
the initial."
Temi gives a spotted, shepherd puppy toy, made from long-haired rabbit to Kenny.
GALAX claims, "I actually had a vestige of something in my head but no idea if it's possible and
definitely not enough time. So if you want, gold, I can whisper that over sometime."
Kenny has lost link.
Kenny has reconnected.
Kenny waves.
Golden declaims, "Please do!"
Dusty trails off, "I had a great rp week ... looking forward to a lot of things ..."
Kirill says, "I wrote the ST Tutorial, and I'm happy to help with any points that seem unclear or
need more explanation. Admittedly, the helpfiles are still a bit unwieldy."
Kinaed smiles at Dusty.
Kinaed beams at Kirill.
Kinaed claims, "They are, even after several rewrites."
Kenny states, "Speaking of ST. I'm looking to run the ST later, and am really nervous >.<"
Kinaed comforts Kenny.
Golden encourages Kenny.
Kirill states to Kenny, "You're going to do great! I'll be around if you need any help at all."
GALAX says, "Embrace the uncertainty. If you screw anything up, it's more likely it'll be a funny
memory than a serious embarrassment."
Edony says, "I was terrified running my first noble project. And Niamh could vouch for it being a
bit of a disaster at first. Don't worry! No one's here to judge or condemn. Quite the opposite -
we're here to help."
Kinaed nods at Edony.
GILES declaims, "I'm excited!"
Raspberries says, "Not sure if I'll be able to make it, have a friend visiting the country and we're
going to meet up in Kyoto later"
Golden claims, "I want to attend but I might be a bit late. I'll need to take a break shortly after
the meeting. After that I'll be free though."
Kinaed has transferred Kuzco. [OOC]
Kuzco claims, "HOLAAA"
Temi gives a spotted, shepherd puppy toy, made from long-haired rabbit to Kuzco.
Wimpled is idle.
GALAX exclaims, "Buenas tardes!"
Kuzco bows in spanish.
Tasker says, "INSIDE VOICE JAJA"
Kirill claims, "There's a lot to the system; I haven't run a story yet that didn't crash the game.
Just have to roll with the struggles."
Wimpled is no longer idle.
Wimpled has returned from AFK.
Temi states, "We were just discussing heartbeat for the week."
Dusty states, "I'll probably look into storytelling eventually. Right now I'm just enjoying my first
char."
Kirill claims, "And help Az track down the bugs."
Kirill nods.
Kinaed says, "Thanks everyone, for feedback on how this week has gone. I think it's time to kick
off Player Topics with Raspberries' topic."
Azarial claims, "Stories simply do not get enough use."
Kinaed nods at Azarial.
Kinaed questions to Raspberries, "Please introduce your topic?"
Kuzco declaims, "Oh, I want to do an ST when I have more time -- no combat, no physical challenges,
plenty of mystery!"
Cheeky pontificates, "The system's being put through its paces lately I think!"
Kinaed smiles at Kuzco.
Kinaed nods at Cheeky.
Raspberries queries, "Oh, I wanted to touch on exile before topics actually, if that's okay?"
Kinaed claims, "Just a quick reminder to anyone who raised their hand for a topic to please pre-
write it."
Kinaed muses to Raspberries, "Is exile your topic?"
Raspberries says, "No, just as part of the heartbeat. I felt the way it was implemented has a bit of
a chilling effect"
Dongo wonders, "Doesn't the 10 page forum thread cover this?"
Kinaed says, "In the interests of time, I'm happy to discuss exile as your topic, but then we'll
come around to your actual topic after the other people have gone. Our current rule is one topic per
person unless we have enough time to swing back around."
Kinaed smiles at Dongo.
Kinaed claims to Dongo, "Staff still haven't committed to any specific changes around that though,
so I can see why people want to bring it up."
Kinaed has transferred LORRENT. [OOC]
GALAX states, "Ehhhhh. There can be some benefit to having a very real time conversation, too. More
humanizing."
Temi gives a spotted, shepherd puppy toy, made from long-haired rabbit to LORRENT.
Kinaed claims, "I need to read the forum post in detail - I just haven't had time, and comb out
things to discuss with staff."
Kinaed nods at GALAX.
LORRENT holds a spotted, shepherd puppy toy, made from long-haired rabbit in his hand.
LORRENT poses his puppy toy so that it is lying down with its chin lying on its front feet.
Kirill states, "I will say, quickly, that while I may have been pretty vocal on the forums and have
disagreed with certain decisions -- I don't hate anyone behind those decisions."
Kinaed says, "I'm probably not going to make any commitments about specific changes now because I
think the topic deserves deeper thought, but I am happy for us as a group to discuss it."
Raspberries states, "Well my main suggestion is it could be left as-is, but require capture before
use. Basically the same as a execution command."
Kinaed claims to Kirill, "That's appreciated."
Kinaed nods at Raspberries.
Kinaed states, "We've definitely heard that suggestion on the forums. "
Kinaed states, "And a few more."
Kinaed questions, "Does anyone else want to add anything about their preferred fixes?"
Temi claims, "I don't think it quite rolled out the way staff wanted it to either."
GALAX states, "One small suggestion--"
Kinaed asks, "Or even just describe how you'd personally like to see it work?"
Kuzco declares, "Make bards inmune to exile of course!"
Kuzco nods.
Raspberries states, "I like the idea of a warrant on steroids as well, but think it should be part
of a different system"
Wimpled says, "Exile all the bards."
Kuzco states, "I'll take 1/4 of all the beauty of the city with me."
Golden says, "I think capture is a good idea before exile. Being able to force someone off grid is a
powerful tool that while plausible for some characters and situations could easily be abused. But
that doesn't mean it should not exist, just used carefully if that makes sense."
Cosette has lost link.
Cosette has reconnected.
Edony pontificates, "Pardon!"
Edony has gone AFK.
Dongo says, "Yeah, 25 IP is like 2 well connected people. That's not very steep"
Wimpled claims, "I liked most of the last suggestions made in the forum post by Rosie the Robot
(whatever their name is, its the avatar on the account) but think requiring a physical capture would
be at least something."
Dusty claims, "I found its workings disappointing, but there's no complaint or suggestion I have
that I haven't observed in some form on the forums. I just would rather some intermediate step of
heightened security or such. And capture as a prereq."
Kenny states, "I like the idea of it being a capture command, and mobs being hostile to them."
Kinaed says, "Actually, I think the IP cost is about right. It took ... I think it was four people
had to donate to the cause in this case. The max IP people earn per week right now is right around
14, which is less than half of what is required, only 5 IP can be purchased with silver, and most
people don't make more than a few IP to donate."
Kenny says, "Living in the wilderness will be epic. "
Dongo claims, "That probably doesn't count the 2 free IP from rumors and purchasable IP which makes
it more than half"
Kinaed claims, "Still, only having about half what you need with a heap of supporters - IP is very
hard to get, it seems. Personally, I was content with the number of donors."
Kirill states, "IP is definitely not that hard to get if you ask for it right after the rollover."
Dongo claims, "I... really don't think so. Any time I've GL'd, I've never struggled to get 15+ on my
own"
Kinaed asks, "Anyone else want to add a thought as to what they think the idea exile system/command
might look like?"
Elizabethany says, "Well, I personally think it could end up looking different based on if they were
captured or not."
Kinaed says to Dongo, "I can't speak to what you've gotten or haven't in the past, I only know that
I did check this case as a 'real example' so to speak, and was satisfied."
Kinaed queries to Elizabethany, "Want to clarify?"
Dusty claims, "My ideal would either require capture or simply make being in civilized spaces a lot
more dangerous. I'm sure some more experienced in the game might have better alternatives."
Kinaed says, "I also checked the current output for all active characters, and 14 was the max IP
earned in this time period."
Elizabethany claims, "Maybe it's more powerful and they can actually make it harder to return with a
guaranteed 'they are believed to be gone' if you have them in hand. Whereas just declaring them
banished, but no one's seen them doesn't really wrap things up neatly. Are they gone? Hard to say.
"
Dongo claims, "So that's 16 with rumors and no purchased IP. If they cared to, that's already almost
enough to sol9 exile"
Dongo says, "Solo*"
Kinaed claims, "I see two problems with the capture scenario - the first is that if a person slated
for exile is captured, they'll be executed, so exile is a waste."
Wimpled queries, "If it's really supposed to be used with nobles, nobles wouldn't be executed,
they'd be exiled, no?"
Kinaed says, "I'm more inclined to say if a person is exiled, they just remain on grid and have to
navigate the shittiness that is exile - but that's option 3 for the player to choose anyway."
WhiteRabbit is idle.
Wimpled says, "Exile is the noble equivalent of execution. "
Kinaed questions, "To me it's like 'what's the issue with taking them aside and presenting that plus
two other options, up to them'?"
Kirill states, "Exile still makes sense for character concepts in which outright execution wouldn't
be used. Social death instead of actual death."
Kuzco hmmms.
Kirill claims, "But yeah, for mages it's the pyre, and for baseborn criminals it's execution."
Wimpled claims, "They can take their options after the capture."
Wimpled questions, "I think that's the suggestion?"
Kinaed states to Wimpled, "It's the punishment for nobles who would normally be executed, but there
is nothing htat says this is the only use case for exile ever allowed."
Raspberries states, "I think exile should be a execution choice, basically, the same as the others.
And under the Seneschal to grant, overruling the Reeves"
Dusty says, "Yeah ... I dunno. All I do know is that I seriously sympathize with the player get a
shoddy end to their story, and that I also sympathize with the reason characters ICly sought the
escalation of methods."
Kinaed claims, "Exile, in my mind, is also used whenever something is so offensive to the Crown that
the person is barred from any interaction with Loyal Lithmore."
Wimpled states, "Sure. But if we're looking into this in the realm of cases where it will most
likely be implemented, I don't think it's fair to say if they get captured they'll just be executed.
The purpose is to exile."
Edony has returned from AFK.
Kinaed claims, "That'd only ever apply to a noble, and as I said, there are other use cases. There
are also times when the Crown, and Seneschal, as part of their legitimate IC power, would want to
bring the weight of their power against someone."
GALAX queries, "I'm also curious what exile is supposed to actually do design-wise - for instance,
is exile a last resort for powerful characters who can't be captured, or is it just an equivalent
means to other options to - for lack of a better verb - weaponize social influence?"
Wimpled states, "Sure. And they've decided in those cases for exile and not for a different
punishment."
Wimpled says, "So capture = exile."
Kinaed states, "I simply don't agree that's the only use case."
Hopeful is idle.
Kinaed says, "I agree if you capture a noble that has, for example, comitted a capital crime... they
should suffer exile."
Kinaed claims, "I don't think no one else would ever be exiled."
Raspberries claims, "There can be many uses for exile, but to enforce it, I think they should need
to be captured first."
Hopeful is no longer idle.
Hopeful has returned from AFK.
Wimpled claims, "I'm not saying no one else would be ever exiled, but if they're using the exile
command, that's the expected outcome. They wouldn't use the exile command if they want to have them
executed, they'd do a warrant for that. "
Kinaed says, "I don't agree with that either. It's like having a warrant for someone's arrest - by
every loyal citizen in the realm. "
Wimpled queries, "Otherwise, what is the point? Is every criminal going to be exiled so they can be
captured? "
Kirill states, "I think Elizabethany made some fair points."
GILES states, "I guess my issue there is that I could literally walk down the street and pass
someone on the FBI's most wanted list and have NO idea."
Raspberries states, "I think that should be a different system than exile as it's implemented.
Actually make a super warrant for such rather than exile."
Kinaed states, "Exile is very expensive and difficult to implement. It clearly has backlash
implications, and staff review the cnotes and RP to make sure it's appropriate and substantial."
Kinaed claims to GILES, "And there's the option for the player in question to literally say 'yes, I
want to do that'"
Kinaed says, "For me, my biggest thought on fix would be to remove any cost associated with that
choice."
GILES states to Kinaed, "A very true point."
GALAX nods at Kinaed.
Elizabethany states, "I'd imagine something like... exile enacts blacklist, redlist, warrant,
whatever we have to throw at them. Then if you have them captured, they are deported and have to
pay some big QPs to make their way back, unless it's removed. If you don't have them captured, they
still have the option of leaving, and I don't care if it's enacted by giving them that choice in an
OOC room, but I don't know about charging the QP to come back, when they were never captured."
Cheeky nods at Elizabethany.
Kinaed claims, "I'm personally not offended at all by the idea of transferring someone to a room and
saying 'hey, this huge thing just happened, and here are your options, one of which is to just
pretend it'll have no IC effect and go on with your day'"
Cheeky claims, "I'd thought about something like that but couldn't write it out without sounding too
complicated."
GALAX finishes abruptly, "I was confused as to why, from a cynical standpoint, the best option was
the least interesting one - 'quit playing and take this rpxp' - and the really potentially fun one
for everyone cost a noticeable bundle of QP"
Raspberries nods.
Cheeky states, "But that's one of the reasons I'm supportive of a higher IP cost. With the idea that
the IP is being funneled into different forms of ostracization."
Kirill says, "It's fair to say 'hey, your character has been exiled' but not 'your character fled in
exile.'"
Elizabethany states, "Yeah, the OOC room doesn't offend me at all, as long as it's OOC and not 'okay
you're out of Lithmore.'"
Kirill claims, "There's a difference there, that I think Elizabethany is touching on."
Raspberries nods in agreement with Kirill.
GILES asks, "Honestly, I have no issue with exile. This case was very, erm, extreme?"
Kinaed claims, "It just says 'your character is in a place of safety'"
Kinaed has transferred Nicolo. [OOC]
Azarial states, "An exit form the room to some place in the boonies would solve that"
Kinaed states, "I think, anyway."
Temi gives a spotted, shepherd puppy toy, made from long-haired rabbit to Nicolo.
Kinaed claims, "Certainly, that's ridiculously easy to fix, far more so than rewriting code."
Elizabethany states, "I don't think the text from the room bothered me."
Kirill states, "But if they're not fled, then they shouldn't have to pay QP to get back."
Kuzco trails off, "The Boonies?..."
Raspberries nods at Kirill.
Kuzco nods at Kirill.
Kinaed states to Kirill, "I think that's reasonable enough."
GALAX states, "Like Uh. The remote wilderness, basically."
Dusty nods at Kirill.
Kirill says, "I am thinking you could use a portal object in the OOC room where you 'enter exile' if
you truly want to flee."
Kinaed claims, "The cost was in nod to the fact that the Seneschal had spent a lot of effort and QP
to enact an exile, but I can see that cost being removed."
Azarial claims, "IP."
Kinaed claims, "Yes, IP"
Kinaed nods at Azarial.
Kirill states, "Just have to make sure people aren't using the OOC room as a halfway point for too
long."
Cheeky claims, "Will staff still review the forum posts, or is this live discussion likely to lead
to some decisions? I hope this doesn't sound emotionally charged, I was going for brevity. "
Elizabethany says, "That's why I'd blacklist, redlist and warrant them, so the seneschal is getting
something meaningful for their exile."
Kinaed claims, "Well, the idea is that they can stay there as long as they like if they want, and
they can consider it everything from hiding in a cabinet in the heart of Lithmore to having escaped
to Daravi."
Temi claims, "Staff has been reading the forum posts, and we'll definitely take them into account
when discussing this."
GALAX claims, "Yeah, what Eliza..beth..any said."
GALAX questions, "...Do I say elizabeth or bethany? or liz?"
Kirill states, "Yeah, need to have something IC to reflect the fact that they're exiled, other than
an IC Event post, probably."
Temi says, "I think only Kin hasn't had a chance to read them fully."
Elizabethany pontificates, "Beth is the short version!"
Raspberries states, "Just restating again, though I mentioned on the forums, I think exile should be
free to the Seneschal as well, but again, needing them to be captured. What could cost IP is a super-
warrant"
Kinaed states, "Well... that's actually quite similar to what actually happens. Not sure about
specifically black/redlist/warrant, but the LEGIT shops won't interact with the player, nor can they
bank."
Kinaed asks, "I think guards attack?"
Kinaed tilts her head questioningly to Azarial.
Kuzco states, "Depends."
Kuzco states, "Usually don't."
Elizabethany claims, "Then I think they are getting something from their cost."
Edony exiles Kuzco by means of testing. Trial by fire!
Kirill says, "I'm okay with a mere 25 IP if we're not assuming the person fled and charging them QP
to re-enter."
Kuzco claims to Edony, "You don't wanna do that."
Kirill nods at Elizabethany.
Kinaed nods at Kirill.
GILES wonders, "Is there a way for a "bad guy" to change their appearance at all without resorting
to magic?"
Edony claims, "Hooded cloaks would have a similar enough effect, I'd guess."
Kinaed says to GILES, "No."
Kinaed nods at Edony.
Edony says, "No need for plastic surgery when you could just obscure your face"
GILES exclaims, "True!"
Kinaed says, "Staff closed renames and the like purposefully a long time ago, and put the spell in
game."
Temi states, "We do have eventual plans for a disguise system, but it's a whopper."
Raspberries states, "Npcs see through normal cloaks though"
Kinaed nods at Temi.
Raspberries claims to Temi, "Oooo"
Edony states, "Which could lead to an interesting scene involving the enactment of a temporary law
banning hoods if such was ever needed :O"
Kirill states, "If we're heading in the direction of Elizabethany's suggestions, I'd also suggest
that accepting exile give the same RPXP bonus that pyring and normal execution do."
Kinaed nods at Edony.
GILES agrees with Edony.
Raspberries nods at Kirill.
Temi states, "Which could lead to another interesting scene where a bunch of people with colds all
revolt against not being able to keep their heads dry."
Kinaed states to Kirill, "That's why we offer the liquidation."
Kinaed claims to Kirill, "Because death doesn't actually happen, there's no 'in-game trigger' to
make that offer."
Kirill states, "I mean take it down from 100 percent. "
Edony states, "You can have your head dry, or you can have it attached. Your choice. "
Kinaed claims, "Which necessitates our creating one, like the superficial trans to the other room."
Kirill claims, "I think pyre and execution only give 10%. Though, you may be more likely to get
recommends if you're publically pyred and executed, perhaps."
Golden has lost link.
WhiteRabbit is no longer idle.
WhiteRabbit has returned from AFK.
Elizabethany questions, "Looking back at the thread... maybe trans to the room on next log in after
exile?"
Kinaed states, "Okay, guys - thank you for a rousing discussion. We probably won't resolve this
today, and it's 10 minutes before the top of the hour. I have other registered topics to discuss."
Dusty nods.
GALAX gives a thumbs-up.
GILES nods.
Kuzco nods.
Kinaed claims to Kirill, "Would you mind introducing us to your topic? Then if it's really short,
we'll swing back to Raspberries' intended topic."
LORRENT is idle.
Kirill says, "My story announcement! I have another one coming up, probably during the weekend after
the Spring Awakening Festival has ended. STORY REVIEW 121 for details. It's going to be silly,
squeamish, and hopefully a few folks will be adventurous to get a new false tooth of the bone,
silver, or gold variety."
Raspberries pontificates, "Woo!"
Kinaed smiles.
Kirill muses, "The other thing I wanted to ask was about the new ASCII thing that just went in? HELP
ASCII?"
Kinaed nods at Kirill.
Kinaed claims, "We've introduced ascii tags to allow players to flag ascii so that blind players
don't get hit with strange symbols."
Kirill claims, "I love that we are continuing to make the game better for non-sighted players, but I
actually use the compact command on all my chars to reduce scroll from all the extra lines the game
inserts."
Raspberries says, "OH, that's a neat system. I'll pboard you an example, Kiri."
Kirill asks, "Any chance we can get the new ASCII stuff separated out from compact?"
Kinaed queries, "How is it interacting with compact?"
Raspberries states, "It's not with compact, it's with color"
Raspberries states, "The helpfile's been fixed"
Kirill exclaims, "Ah!"
Azarial says, "I've been working on mail headers and seals; it;s not quite printing right."
Kirill states, "Thank goodness."
Kinaed questions, "Wait, the ascii stuff being on is triggered by having color off?"
Dusty states, "Lol that story niiiice"
Kinaed states, "It probably should be separated entirely into a 'screen reader' autosetting."
Azarial says, "Turning colour off is thge screen reader setting"
Raspberries states, "Err, {aASCI{a would be shown with color on, but not off"
Kinaed states, "No, Az, it's not. There are sighted people who are colorblind."
Temi says, "Though I think there's some ascii that wouldn't look like much without color."
Kinaed claims, "Most of the things we've implemented in the past make sense for both screenreaders
and having color off because it makes up for color being the differentiator"
Kirill states, "I read the helpfile earlier and it said compact, and that was my concern. Thanks,
Raspberries."
Kinaed claims, "But not in this particular case."
Raspberries nods at Kirill.
Kinaed states, "Okay, thanks for that head's up. "
Raspberries wonders, "Do any colorblind players here play with color off?"
Raspberries claims, "I wouldn't think they would."
Kuzco claims, "I think a few do, like Deaidry."
Kinaed states, "I don't know, hard to say if no one in the room is colorblind."
Kinaed nods at Kuzco.
Kirill claims, "Only 2 minutes left. That was all I had."
Kinaed smiles.
Kirill claims, "Come to my next storrryyyyy."
Kinaed states to Raspberries, "Do you want to raise your topic quickly/"
Raspberries nods.
Raspberries claims, "So, my real topic- could we get something similar to 'install' but for
inventory? Basically allowing you to 'drop all' but keep a few specific things you want to keep on
you. It shouldn't prevent steal/take."
Cheeky asks, "Like a voluntary, temporary nodrop flag?"
Raspberries nods.
Tasker says, "That would be super, super useful."
Kinaed says, "I don't see why not, but I also think it'd be so far down on our list of programming
priorities that you won't see it forever."
Kinaed says, "I'll make a note of it."
Raspberries says, "Thanks"
LORRENT is no longer idle.
LORRENT has returned from AFK.
Kinaed states, "We've just hit the top of the hour - thank you everyone for attending. Thank you for
a very civil conversation about exile - happy to continue it next week if people want."
Raspberries states, "Not just drop, but put all, give, etc as well."
Kinaed smiles.
Kinaed nods at Raspberries.
Kirill states, "Thanks, all."
Kirill waves.
Kinaed states, "Please have a wonderful week! We'll get back to you soon."
Raspberries waves.
Edony prepares to disappear!
