Log of OOC Meeting - 11/16/19
Posted: Sat Nov 16, 2019 8:01 pm
Kinaed claims, "Today's Agenda is:
- Staff Updates
- Player Heartbeat
- Player Topics
Is there anything anyone would like to add to the agenda to make certain we discuss it today? If you register a topic, please pre-write it so you're ready to present it when called upon."
Sparkles states, "I have a topic to bring up."
Kinaed says to Sparkles, "Got you "
Galax dabs.
Temi gives a small, wooden toy soldier painted in blue and golden hues to galax.
Kinaed claims, "Staff Updates - I've been minimally available this week, but did some request processing and answering board posts. Still have Turf Wars on my desk."
Kinaed claims to Temi, "You're up "
Temi claims, "Some ongoing plot stuff and getting the war actually kicked off, looking for some ways to get players involved without taking over your RP lives."
Temi states, "But definitely open for people to get involved on the header plot as you're interested in stuff. As promised, that's opened up again."
Temi says, "Other than that, some requests, recommends, etc."
Temi nods at Kinaed.
Kinaed says to Temi, "Thanks for all of that "
Kinaed states to Niamh, "You're up "
Niamh claims, "General upkeep on requests and typos. Cleared out some unused former plot-related vnums in the wilderness area, as it was completely full, and added one more little hidey-hole in the wilderness to explore. ..And by doing so ran us out of vnums in the zone again, of course, but I think we're probably sorted on hideyholes for a good long while. Updated most of the guides on the website and updated our themes/plugins. There's one guide I haven't touched yet, but it's in the works."
Niamh claims, "Done."
Kinaed says to Niamh, "Thank you "
Kinaed claims, "I appreciate the staff work that went into this week, as I'm sure the players do also."
Kinaed says, "Having a quick look at our changes board and seeing what we've got."
Kitty appreciates the staff work.
Galax nods and gives staff a big ol' thumbs-up.
Kinaed says, "Some bugs in matchmaking algorothing, recipe consumption and crafting areresolved, not much else it looks like."
Kinaed asks, "Alright, I think that's everything for Staff Updates. Player Heartbeat! How has this week been, folks?"
Kitty has been good.
Gattara claims, "Busy, and in mostly good ways."
Kinaed claims, "That's great to hear "
Temi nods in agreement.
Kinaed asks, "RP good for the most part?"
Satoshi states, "Lots of fun interactions this week, hardly a quiet non-rp moment for me which is great"
Kinaed smiles.
ToffeeApples states, "Fairly decent"
Kinaed wonders, "How about game mechanics? How are people feeling about the plot on the whole?"
Civetta claims, "Great things are happening but feeling short staffed."
Gattara says, "RP has been excellent, here."
Kinaed nods at Civetta.
Sparkles claims, "I seem to have had a week for timing, but it happens."
Kinaed states, "Makes sense. I think we may need to hire another staff member. I'm having trouble getting all staff to turn up for staff meetings, even pre-scheduled ones."
Temi muses to Civetta, "Short-staffed in your guild or in staff?"
ToffeeApples says, "Had a seeker that poofed "
Kinaed comforts ToffeeApples.
Galax claims, "Seeker vaporization is always rough when it happens."
Gattara claims, "Have had a few of those too... but for the most part, the guild I'm part of is excellent anyway. Quality over quantity, etc."
Kinaed nods at galax.
Kinaed nods at Gattara.
Kinaed states to Gattara, "1000x, yes."
Civetta says, "In the guild"
ToffeeApples claims, "I just want a squire I can order to do the ball kicking for me"
Kinaed grins at ToffeeApples.
Satoshi snickers
Kitty claims, "Ooooh, that totally should have been the gift. Forgot about that."
Everett says, "Maybe they'll actually put some effort into their kicks, too"
Camila hasn't been too active with Camila, but my other selves have gotten some RP.
Kitty states, "Chocolate balls with a huge dent in them."
Kinaed nods at Everett.
Temi pontificates, "Alas!"
Gattara trails off, "Well, now I'm tempted to change my characters profession to squire..."
Kinaed muses, "Is anything shitting anyone (that isn't already a registered topic?)"
Satoshi states, "Im starting to wonder if mutter isnt broken like eavesdrop and atuff"
Satoshi states, "Its been acting weird lately but i didnt notice cause its not often used"
Kinaed wonders to Satoshi, "I don't know - can we do some specific testing with logs and determine if it is?"
galax mutters: '....l. ...mb.. ...... jangle'
Kinaed claims, "We can certainly have a look at it."
Sparkles says, "I've had a few moments where I felt a bit, I guess awkward? with not knowing when to step in if things felt a bit 'harsh' against a cyan."
Kinaed nods at Sparkles.
Niamh frowns.
Kinaed says to Sparkles, "If you give the cyan a cyan warning and they choose not to retcon or adjust their path, be as harsh as you want."
Satoshi muses, "Osay when in doubt?"
ToffeeApples wonders, "Am I at fault there, Sparkles?"
Kitty says, "The cyan warning says, specifically, 'when in danger'. If it's just... a situation where someone may end up disliking them, that's not the same, no? I mean, you wouldn't send a warning saying, "Dude, you're being a douche.""
Temi says, "From what I've seen, most cyans that are getting into trouble are expecting and intending that - and we want there to be consequences to actions and things. We just don't want it to be because of mistakes."
Kinaed states, "A formal cyan warning is best because 1) I know it has wording to make sure it's clear to the cyan that you're not OOCly threatening them to get them to be different, just alerting them that they have the option to avoid trouble, and 2) it's recorded to our policy board, so when we see 3 warnings to a Cyan for the same thing, we don't think any player is just being a dick."
Kinaed nods at Temi.
Radiune claims, "I mean, when defining danger, I think that making your character dislike them could very well count as danger - subversion is powerful, especially if your character has powerful allies or companions."
Kinaed says, "Basically, if you have a cyan warning logged to a cyan, you're covered for anything."
Kinaed says to Radiune, "True, it certainly can be."
Satoshi says OOCly, "I tend to just inform cyans of "expected" behavior etc if they or other characters stray from it tbh"
Kinaed nods at Satoshi.
Satoshi states, "Oops. so theyre informed and stuff"
Kinaed says, "I think that's a good method. "
Satoshi claims, "Especially since my charatcer specifically breaks a lot of expected behavior on purpose and gets away with it"
Kinaed states, ""It's generally expected that someone will X. It's fine if you Y, but I thought I'd let you know to assist you in adjusting to theme""
ToffeeApples questions to Sparkles, "Or was it you thought others were being to harsh around a cyan?"
Kinaed nods at Satoshi.
Kuzco eyes around warily.
Kinaed smiles.
Satoshi states, "Yeah like when i call everyone by first name i try to tell cyans thats NOT normal and typically scandalous "
Kuzco states, "I am literally in a gas station for a few minutes"
Radiune queries, "Another thing to consider would possibly be that a cyan playing a foreign character of low class might be less familiar to Lithmorran customs and as such would be ICly in danger simply as a matter of that fact - would that be a consequence of the player not knowing, or it not making sense for the character being played to know in the firs place?"
Sparkles claims, "I don't want to say anyone specifically is responsible and I wouldn't say in the group setting, I guess perhaps it was more a feeling that folks are mentioning more folks about so a general reminder that first impressions mean a lot when folks are looking at new games."
Temi states to Kuzco, "Just doing heartbeat now"
Kuzco nods.
Kinaed claims, "We were just talking about cyan warnings and that players can be harsh to cyans, provided they've put up a warning, and also that it's best if warnings are about stating what expected behaviors are versus 'don't do X'"
Kuzco nods.
Kinaed asks of Sparkles, "I'm not certain I follow. Do you mean that you'd like for staff to make a general reminder statement about first impressions, or is this about doing cyan warnings that are statements like that?"
Gattara says, "I haven't yet had to warn a cyan, even those that seem actually new"
Kinaed nods at Gattara.
Satoshi can never tell the new ones from not so just assumes theyre all new
Kinaed says, "I've seen several cases of people assuming a cyan isn't new because the cyan is fairly eloquent and has spent some time with our help files."
Kinaed says, "And the player was actually new as could be."
ToffeeApples claims, "I will look into how cyan warnings work and use that next time"
Kinaed smiles at ToffeeApples.
Kinaed nods at ToffeeApples.
Radiune states, "I am relatively new even though I've played since March, but I'm one of those weirdos who spent 5 hours reading help files on culture and custom before actually entering the game just because that's my shtick and I love world-building (I'm an ethnomusicology student irl)"
Kinaed nods at Radiune.
Temi grins.
Gattara trails off, "If it's a matter of knowing the helpfiles, then... I'm still cyan "
Kinaed says to Gattara, "Hehe, it's like that for some - but not everyone. "
Temi says, "Those sorts of players that dive right into the lore and want to learn and embrace it are often great ones to get hooked too "
Kinaed nods at Temi.
Kuzco says, "I had that with Raynne, she's such a good writer and responsible player that I thought she was a vet"
Kinaed nods at Kuzco.
Radiune claims, "I also have a propensity for playing filthy mages - but that's just me. *cough*"
Kuzco claims, "All mages are filthy"
Galax claims, "I'll try to be a little tamer with cyans myself. I'll be honest, on reflection, when I see cyans being rowdy or controversial I have a bad habit of assuming they want that attention rather than just being new and not knowing how to gauge or meter self-risk"
Kuzco nods.
Kitty states, "Everyone thought I wasn't new when I started last... December. But, I was completely new. However, I've thought other people aren't new recently, too, because they had certain specific code nuances down that few have, and they were. So, I'm guilty of the same."
Kinaed states, "It's really easy to be wrong. And cyan warnings are required anytime someone is a cyan and they're getting into trouble, new player or not."
Kinaed nods at galax.
Kinaed states to galax, "That'd be appreciated."
Kitty says, "Well, new-ish? I hadn't been around since TI2."
Kinaed nods at Kitty.
ToffeeApples claims, "My character got up in one's grill that was aksing questions about where secrets could be found that would've been suspicious ICly. I tried to remain thematic though"
Kinaed nods at ToffeeApples.
Niamh claims, "That doesn't sound too crazy to me."
Kinaed says to ToffeeApples, "That seems ICly reasonable. No change to the RP is required, other than a warning to the cyan being posted so we know they know WHY they got that behavior rather than assuming that older players are just mean."
Kuzco declaims, "Arrest Niamh!"
Kinaed nods at Niamh.
Niamh states, "It's more theme-molding and inducting them into the world."
Niamh screeches at Kuzco.
Sparkles claims, "Hmm, I suppose maybe a reminder about first impressions. It wasn't a really settled idea beyond just wanting to try and give best efforts about seeing some of the new faces join us long term."
Kinaed nods at Niamh.
Gattara claims, "I started like... 5 months ago, but was mistaken for a non-newbie, too."
Satoshi states, "Yeah i think whenever you get stuff that would be suspicous but the character doesnt seem to treat that way, maybe inform them why you are reacting that way"
ToffeeApples claims, "Urth ain't a nice place"
Kinaed nods at Gattara.
Kinaed says to Gattara, "For what it's worth, that means your RP was pretty good."
Satoshi states, "No but we want TI to be a nice place, oocly."
Kinaed nods at Satoshi.
Radiune says, "Unless you're in Daravi. ; )"
Kinaed claims, "Okay, shall we move to our Player Topics? I now have two registered."
Kinaed muses to Sparkles, "Would you like to raise your topic now?"
Gattara states, "There was a newbie recently that treated nearly drowning as no big deal, ...I wasn't really sure what to do with that, honestly. I don't think the others in the scene knew either, really."
Kinaed nods at Gattara.
Gattara muses, "Don't think it would require a warning, but...?"
Kinaed claims to Gattara, "Sometimes you just do what your character would do and treat that person like their weird or not quite right in their point of view."
Sparkles looks over at Kuzco and says, "Now you are here, do you want to say it or should I?"
Gattara nods.
Gattara says, "Makes sense, and essentially what happened."
ToffeeApples queries, "Tell the inquisition they need to get reviewed?"
Kuzco claims, "I'll take it, everyone, since Sparkles was gonna post if I didn't make it here"
Kinaed asks, "Oh, maybe we only have one topic...?"
Kinaed nods at Kuzco.
Radiune claims, "Would like to just say that air hunger (which includes drowning) is one of the most awful and painful ways to die - and even coming close to it should absolutely be a big deal.. unless they're a spooky witch/warlock."
Kinaed says, "I'm not certain that's common knowledge to the average person."
Radiune does the spooky magic hands wavey gesture.
Kuzco claims, "I want to remind folks that posting rumors following certain events is not only cool but kinda mandatory. I am seeing lots of events that go unregistered because no one posted a rumoet"
Gattara pontificates, "It mostly felt like the person really, really didn't want to be in that particular scene. (Okay shutting up now!)"
Kinaed asks of Kuzco, "I agree with you... but I am also curious that if you've noticed it why you wouldn't post the rumors yourself?"
Kuzco claims, "Because sometimes I wasn't there and I find out much later"
Kinaed states, "Ahh, makes a bit of sense."
Satoshi states, "Kuzco is in a position to hear about it later but often isnt there"
Sparkles states, "A lot of potential RP for a lot of folks fizzles without rumors as it helps to involve off-time folks."
ToffeeApples wonders, "Do you mean a coded event? Or just the generic 'semi notable scene'"
Kuzco claims, "Like fights, mages openly casting, parties, social gaffes, people behaving outside their station"
Satoshi states, "Also its literally free to post rumors AND gou get RPXP"
Kinaed nods at Satoshi.
Kuzco trails off, "People dressing inappropiately..."
Kinaed claims, "And influence points"
Galax states, "And up to 3 IP per week, IIRC"
Kinaed nods at galax.
Radiune states, "Maybe (small) QP incentives to the first three people who post a rumor on an event of relative importance? Just throwing an idea out there."
Kuzco states, "I post a LOT of rumors presently to make up for others who don't"
Kinaed says, "I'm surprised people don't rumor like crazy just because it's lucrative."
Kinaed says to Kuzco, "Thank you for doing that."
Temi says, "To be fair, if people only have time to RP and not necessarily post rumors, I'd rather them be here in RP"
Kuzco states, "I do it, and people don't seem to grasp their use"
Satoshi claims, "You can post a rumor IN RP"
Sparkles claims, "Posting a rumor takes like 5 minutes though."
Kitty says, "But, rumors take like... seconds to post."
Kinaed states, "I think you can post rumors while in RP"
Kuzco queries, "You want to pressure someone to work? Make a rumor about it"
Kinaed nods at Satoshi.
Satoshi asks, "For example that masked man rumor?"
ToffeeApples wonders, "Maybe something like a messenger quick equivalent for rumors?"
Galax claims, "It feels like rumor activity has gone down overall, but that's more of a tangential observation"
Kinaed nods at Kitty.
Kinaed nods at galax.
Kuzco exclaims, "Someone is misbehaving but exposing them yourself is costly or risky? rumor!"
Satoshi states, "I posted that about myself because i felt lke NPCs would notice"
Kinaed claims to galax, "Our activity in general has gone down. "
Kuzco states, "Yeah Sat u r great"
Satoshi says, "And its sparked some investigation because it was SHADY and NOTICEABLE"
Satoshi claims, "If you do anything odd, get that dank IP"
Kinaed claims, "To be clear, rumors are not mandatory. However, they enrich the game and there's a lot of positive reasons to post them, even if it's just straight up lying to make some IP."
Satoshi claims, "Its your prize for being notable and scaring VNPCS"
Kuzco exclaims, "For example there was a party the other day with PLENTY social stuff that begged for gossip -- but no rumor!"
Radiune says, "Don't be afraid to start rumors about yourself, too. Those are the best kinds of rumors."
Kinaed states, "So I would *encourage* people to rumor, but it's not a rule that people must."
Satoshi says, "Isnt it actually policy that you have to"
Sparkles claims, "Also hearing rumors can be free too, make friends with a Bard. Some of us live to gossip."
Kuzco states, "Didn't know certain rumors weren't mandatory, like criminal moods"
Satoshi muses, "If its a big notable thing?"
Kinaed claims to Satoshi, "Only for certain things where rumor fields are generally required, like liquidating or plots."
Kuzco claims, "Huh"
Kinaed claims, "But people aren't held responsible to rumor everything they see from their general RP."
Radiune gets the Turf Wars Specification.
Kinaed claims, "Yes, if you break into a house, you are required to mood."
Kuzco declaims, "Okay. Still! Try to make rumors, it helps a LOT to liven up the game, not to mention keep people informed, specially those who log in first"
Kuzco says, "I meant, those who log in infrequently"
Kuzco brain farted
Kinaed says, "I'm unaware of any policy that people must rumor except in places where there are POLCAs that force the issue of rumoring because the type of thing they're doing (for example, an execution) would 100 percent come with a rumor."
Satoshi says, "Ill need to review the rumor policy again when i get home. it implies, iirc, that you should be making rumors if ut happened in public. "
Kinaed claims, "But there's no requirements that everyone rumor their general RP unless they want to - there are incentives."
Sparkles says, "I think technically PKs require one if/when appropriate."
Kinaed says to Satoshi, "Well, people should."
Kuzco states, "I think it keeps the game much more dynamic"
Satoshi states, "Also please remember runors and promotes dont need to be FROM your character either"
Kuzco claims, "For example if someone gets a new outfit, or gets drunk, or a noble appears dirty in public"
Kinaed states to Sparkles, "That's a possibility. There are specific things where rumors are required, but "I went to Bob's Bookfaire and here's what happened" isn't one of them."
Satoshi states, "It can be a passerby, etc so long as its matching the rumor circle etc"
Kinaed nods at Satoshi.
Temi states, "Just because you wish you'd known about it does not make it required they posted a rumor."
Kinaed claims, "And it's a good idea that does help the game."
Kinaed states, "It's just not a policy thing where people get in trouble for not doing it (at this time). "
Kuzco won't speak about how suspicious it would be for a girl who's poor but also mega hot, to appear with a mink cloak all of a sudden
Kinaed claims, "If people want to change that, I'm up for the discussion. This is the forum."
Kuzco pontificates, "Two people inappropiately gossip in mass? Rumor!"
Kinaed claims, "That's definitely a bard at heart speaking. "
Kuzco declares, "You want to accuse someone of something false but plausible? rumor!"
Galax claims, "Right now, my thoughts are 'rumors might be getting disproportionately underused but that's probably just because people aren't informed of the system's benefits or uses'"
Radiune states, "You want to exclaim your absolute magnificence and munificence to the world? Rumooooor."
Kinaed states to galax, "That's likely - in which case we've had an awareness exercise just now."
Galax nods.
Satoshi states, "Yeah rumors dont have to be true either. or good for you. like certain rumors implying affairs >_>"
Kinaed says, "I think some of it dropping is due to activity dropping overall though."
Kinaed nods at Satoshi.
Satoshi makes a lot of negative rumors about himself apparently
Gattara says, "As good an idea as rumors are, I don't think they should be made mandatory, no."
Kuzco claims, "There was also the general drop after the rumor system changw"
Kinaed claims to Satoshi, "I used to do that about my own characters occasionally too. I think I spread that Lauris was a drunk slut (albeit I did try to live up to that rumor occasionally *cough*)"
Kitty claims, "I think a lot of people avoid negative rumors about themselves because they don't want to deal with the results. Or because they are being sneaky."
Temi claims, "I do owe some additional updates, I think"
Kinaed nods at Kuzco.
Galax says, "I can't deny that anecdotally, but it felt like new rumor threads were already taking a drop in volume"
Satoshi says, "I like the consequences though. my character gets away with too much"
Kinaed states, "On the whole, do we prefer this new system? As I recall, we voted to tweak it rather than to revert when we discussed this last in OOC Chat."
Kinaed has transferred Francesca. [OOC]
Kuzco claims, "I won't respond to rumors about Norrig being a mobster"
Temi gives a small, wooden toy soldier painted in blue and golden hues to Francesca.
Galax states, "I think the main thing that changed with the update was a slower roll of promotes"
Kinaed states to Francesca, "We're discussing the rumor system."
Kuzco >_>
Niamh eyes Kuzco warily.
Francesca says, "Because they're all true, Kuzco."
Kuzco claims, "You can see my who list video"
Gattara states, "I wasn't here for the old rumor system, but think the current one is pretty good."
Satoshi states, "I appreciate the system now that more people are using it per the rules"
Temi claims, "I lost track of my plans for some more updates, to better tie circles in with it, but I'll try to get back to that"
Kinaed states, "I've personally never used it in play."
Sparkles queries, "If there's a moment for another topic, as I'd claimed a spot, can I bring up something that was brought up earlier?"
Kinaed nods at Satoshi.
Francesca states, "I prefer this rumor system to the old one, honestly."
Kinaed nods at Temi.
Galax says, "Which I think was mostly fine, because it felt like a lot of old promotes were kinda encouraging low-effort posts, but I don't know. Having strong feelings about things is hard"
Kinaed nods at Francesca.
Kuzco says, "Oh sorry Sparkles"
Kuzco nods at Galax
Kinaed says, "Well, if there's no strong feelings except some people who think it's good, then it's good."
Galax nods at Kinaed.
Kinaed muses, "Is there really a problem here beyond asking people to do more rumors pretty-please?"
Kinaed queries, "Is there anything on TI that's not working particularly well at the moment?"
Francesca says, "ME."
Kinaed comforts Francesca.
Kuzco states, "I think sparkles had a topic of her own after all"
Galax claims, "Same, big mood, etc."
Satoshi declares, "Other than eavesdrop?! but uh, sparkles has a topic kinnaed"
Kuzco feels Norrig doesn't have enough muscles and that's a problem
Kinaed states to Satoshi, "I thought this was Sparkles' topic - see, apparently Kuzco asked her to raise it because he wasn't sure if he could make it."
Kuzco says, "Yeah but she said she had something else, 5 minutes sgi"
Satoshi claims, "She asked if she could talk anyways "
Kuzco says, "Ago"
Satoshi claims, "Scroll probably missed it"
Kinaed says, "Oh, I am so sorry, I missed that."
Kuzco peers at Sparkles
Kinaed declaims to Sparkles, "Yes! Tell us your topic!"
Sparkles says, "Someone earlier brought up the concern about RP about drowning, I think part of the trouble there is because it causes no actual coded wounds and/or an effect, people don't actually know to treat it like a problem. So someone saying report them for being a witch, I wonder if part of that isn't more a code thing."
Kuzco questions, "I think drowning causes coded injuries?"
Gattara claims, "Well... it does entirely drain their move, I don't believe it causes any injury though."
Satoshi claims, "It lowers your HP yeah but no wounds "
Galax claims, "Drowning does HP damage but does not leave a wound you need to treat"
Kuzco should test it by drowning someone, Old Order-style
Satoshi ...migjt have drowned
Radiune exclaims, "Bring back the drownings!!"
Kinaed claims, "Well, that's quite cheerful."
Niamh tries not to lol.
Satoshi questions, "Maybe just a "fatigue" affect? that shows with diagnose? to show why youre so mega-hurt?"
Gattara trails off, "Maybe a 'fluid-filled lungs' injury would work, or something..."
Kinaed states, "That being said, I don't know what kind of wound would be appropriate, nad I think the types of things where people have different ideas about how serious certain things isn't at all limited to drowning."
Satoshi says, "You do recover from drowning remarkably quickly codedly otherwise "
Kinaed says, "We've seen other disagreements where one party thinks something is serious and another doesn't."
Sparkles states, "But I feel that's where code is there usually to arbitrate."
Kuzco says, "Maybe add it to a helpfile"
Gattara claims, "I just think it's not exactly 'realistic' to recover from nearly drowning by eating and drinking"
Kuzco states, "Like 'By its very nature, drowning does not leave coded, visible wounds.'"
Satoshi claims, "But i tend to RP being hurt after the coded wound disappears if its not realistic enough for me "
Gattara nods.
Everett says, "I'm fine with RPing to their idea of how serious it is, medical RP in general is sort of give-take across the board"
Kinaed says, "I don't see why someone couldn't osay someone a link to 'this is what recovering from near drowning actually looks like' as opposed to coding something specifically for what seems to me to be a fairly edge case."
Temi says, "An affect instead of a wound could make sense"
Kuzco nods at Temi.
Gattara states, "An affect would work, too."
Kuzco states, "That sounds really goos"
Gattara pontificates, "Or just a link in osay!"
Temi says, "But I don't know if it's worth it, for the few times it comes up"
Kuzco claims, "Good"
Sparkles claims, "An affect Physicians could also treat, otherwise people have no reason to stay and tend to just run out of the room."
Kinaed claims, "An adjustment to the help file is easier than anything code, so we can update the help file"
Kuzco nods.
Kinaed says to Sparkles, "Now that's a good point."
Kinaed ponders.
Kinaed says, "Okay, I'll add it to Staff Talking Points."
Gattara states, "Have actually tended to 'drowning' victims several times during my time here, so it's not really that rare. It's usually cyans, too."
Francesca states, "Oh, if we have time, can I just bring up something right quick? Mainly a PSA."
Kinaed states to Francesca, "Sure, please do "
Radiune claims, "Partial/near-drowning can also cause brain damage - something to consider for RP, perhaps."
Kinaed nods at Radiune.
Kitty says OOCly, "I think that's a bit harsh to force on a newb for accidentally walking into a water room."
Francesca exclaims, "Sorry for being absent for a bit, guys. But in getting caught up on the OOC meetings logs I missed, I noticed there was so concern about some merchant trades not being covered for the purposes of repairs (like leatherworking). Even if you don't see a trade covered on guildlist merchants, feel free to mail the GM or Magnate any way because there's a one thousand percent chance one of us actually has the trade you're looking for but we just don't advertise it. That's it!"
Kuzco claims, "It also makes one very moist"
Francesca claims, "*some concern"
Kinaed nods at Francesca.
Kinaed states, "I appreciate your having the ability to speak up on that."
Kuzco asks, "Ah, good to know! maybe also add it to boards and rumors, Fran?"
Kinaed nods at Kuzco.
Francesca claims, "I mean. I'll be honest, guys. I'm a Jill of all trades codedly. But it makes no RP sense for my 90 pound gentrywoman who hates getting dirty to know how to swing a blacksmith hammer so I play it off like it's a NPC doing it the rare times I have to use it. But yeah, I'll try to update the merchant directories on the IC boards to reflect that WE HAVE YOU COVERED."
Kuzco declaims, "Speaking of which! Remember that the Town Hall is the guild with the biggest income by far, so if you need funding for stuff that isn't covered by other guilds, ask away!"
Kinaed nods at Kuzco.
Kinaed claims, "It's good to get some of that money out there."
Satoshi makes a mental note to petition town hall for... trade routes
ToffeeApples wonders, "What kind of stuff?"
Satoshi says, "I assume IC projects that you can come up with an excuse to not pay for"
Kuzco claims, "I tend to reward guilds for hosting public events or efforts, nobles for making projects, and so on"
Galax trails off, "Dear town hall: I want a pony, and the pavement outside my house gilded, and..."
Kitty claims, "Gold horseshoes."
Kitty says, "I may not be noble, but my horse is, damnit."
Radiune states, "Glitterhoof."
Satoshi corrects, "dear town hall, there is a lack of good workhorses in the city...
ToffeeApples says, "Exactly. I can't imagine what most characters would get from the Council"
Radiune claims, "We need to put a horse on the council."
Sparkles claims, "For folks who want to RP that NPCs are doing certain things, setting up a mail courier profile in their name people can mail rather than them directly seems over time the way to RP that well."
Camila buys her own stuff tax free. Thank goodness for being rich.
Radiune states, "The workhorses deserve representation too."
Kitty claims, "I... am teasing. There's tons to get from the council."
ToffeeApples trails off, "Such as..."
Radiune says, "Political clout."
Kinaed nods at Sparkles.
Kinaed asks, "Anyone have any other public service announcements?"
Kitty says, "The council has all of the notables in the city. Need IP? That's them. Want to accomplish a project? Approach them - they can get it done. Want to see something happen or see something that bugs you? Tell them."
Satoshi states, "More specific examples? funding for a public event. maybe a "join the knights" faire to interact with NPCs"
Francesca states, "Well, my character has access to all sorts of merchant NPCs, so in my particular case, I think that could get a bit excessive. And historically speaking, for this game, most people tend to just send a letter to the merchant GLs when they need a job done and don't otherwise know who to contact, so I think just continuing that tradition is fine for now! In my opinion."
Galax says, "In all seriousness. Coverage for guild supplies or operations. Items needed for 'public works', etc"
Kuzco exclaims, "Remember to post reviews in Reddit and TMC please, huge impact!"
Kinaed claims, "I'd like to remind people that there is a public community board in Church Square for advertising. Also, most guilds have their own IC board."
Kitty trails off, "Plus, all of the GLs are on the council, too. So..."
Kinaed claims, "It used to be a pretty big deal to check the Church Square board at least once per day, but I've heard it's fallen out of favor - I'd recommend people considering doing that again as it's a great central IC point."
Kinaed nods at Kuzco.
Galax states, "Maybe even run of the mill PCs could even seek out short term employment from the council, if they want that fat coin for personal goods"
Kinaed nods at galax.
Kuzco says, "Examples: I have funded guilds for special services, for conducting plots which benefit me or the Town Hall"
Kinaed muses, "Have people been using the Black Market of late?"
Kuzco claims, "For getting involved in the civil war or succession"
Kuzco claims, "Not really"
Galax says, "I seldom use blackmarket and have heard anecodtally that it's not very active"
Kinaed queries, "Is that because it sucks or because people just don't think of it?"
Satoshi claims, "I tried to sell skme stuff on there but no bites"
Kuzco states, "I pay people to promote Infrastructure or Relations"
Kinaed comforts Satoshi.
Kuzco states, "I pay to stock the Town Hall with booze and food"
Satoshi claims, "I also tried to promote my drug business but also no bites "
Radiune says, "I feel like the blackmarket needs to be more accessible, and perhaps there should be associated VNPCs at... strategically placed areas... in Southside."
Kuzco states, "I sometimes pay people to assist me with stuff like a short term PA"
Satoshi trails off, "I think its just people arent...DOING that much shady stuff tbh"
Satoshi claims, "I have a monopoly on open shade"
Francesca claims, "You kinda do, yeah."
Satoshi preens.
Kinaed nods thoughtfully.
Kuzco claims, "I also tithe Guilds which do major successes like pyring big mages or solving a big public problem"
Satoshi states, "I do sorta wish that there was a way for me to codedly recognize tcant though"
Francesca states, "I think you mean to say 'do your dirty work', Kuzco."
Kinaed says, "If I can ask people to consider how we might uptick shady stuff and make that side of TI better, then bring those ideas to OOC Chat next week, that'd be great."
Sparkles states, "That probably defeats the entire point."
Kuzco claims, "Precisely Fran "
Niamh states, "I would very much like to make this my title, forever: Satoshi claims, "I have a monopoly on open shade""
Kuzco says, "Haha"
Radiune claims, "People fear damage to their characters. Play a decadent priest! Play a prostitute! And so on, and so forth."
Francesca says, "I think most of us just do our shade on the down low"
Satoshi states, "It sucks to constantly osay that i cant see it when im icly lookin for it "
Camila says, "Decadent priest sounds like fun....maybe Camila should join the order."
Kinaed declaims, "Okay, we're at the top of the hour. Thank you everyone who came today!"
Satoshi says, "Also lol we had a decadent priest once. he visited a brothel and never came back"
Kinaed claims, "If I missed something you said, please accept my apologies "
Kuzco pontificates, "Please remember to tip your bards, and tithe the order for prestige!"
Kinaed declares, "Okay, everyone - until next week!"
