Hey, all!

This was a project in the past, but we are trying to change how we present ourselves to the community through our website and our introduction in social media, and we would like to get the input of our very creative players to do what you guys know how to do very well: write. We would like to have a paragraph that easily describes us to a player who is unfamiliar with the setting, and perhaps a player who is unfamiliar with MUDs in general. Many games (and businesses in general) have a sentence or paragraph that can easily describe themselves. In the case of a MUD, we believe it is far more complex to describe ourselves. In Marketing, we call this a 'catchphrase.' Here is the definition: "A catchphrase (or catch phrase) is a phrase or expression recognized by its repeated utterance. Some become the de facto or literal "trademark" or "signature" of the person or character with whom they originated, and can be instrumental in the typecasting (beneficially or otherwise) of a particular actor."

For example, SUPERHOT (a game) encourages people to share the game with the following text: "Hi, [FRIEND NAME HERE], you have to check out this game. It's the most innovative shooter I've played in years." While this is not a paragraph, you get my point. If you visit their website, the whole design centers around validating that phrase. They even have a quote from the Washing Post saying that, "SUPERHOT IS THE MOST INNOVATIVE SHOOTER I’VE PLAYED IN YEARS!" The next review is "A hallmark of excellence" from another reviewer. It's a solid, consistent message.

So, yes, please help us by submitting your catchphrases. Feel free to submit as many as you can! :)

oddly enough, I've had to do this with a couple friends of mine. However, it is a bit harder, for people who have never played mud, because they would have to learn what a mud is, and how it all works.
if on the other hand, I were to describe TL to another player, who plays mud, I might say something like this.

TL is a role play emerssive game, that takes place around the middle ages.
While it does have a fantasy aspect, and you can be a mage, it is not by any means a hack and slash game that normal fantasy games tend to follow.
The crafting system is marvelous, and the role play is the highest quality I have ever seen.
As for a catch phrase? Hmm that one is a bit harder.
I will have a think.
