Diagreement is cool and all, but rubbing in just how much you disagree without offering any other commentary is asshattery. And I know asshattery. Mostly because it's so close to assflattery.

He saw a problem, and he came up with a solution. No need to twist it.

While they treat other nobles with respect and deference and assisting when possible, Cellan is the Reeves' feudal lord, through her position as Duchess of Lithmore.

Would the Count of Lothos be hearing cases, changing patrol routes, overriding sentences? The Count of Lothos doesn't meddle in Lithmorran Reeves' affairs because the Count has his or her own Reeves back in Lothos to boss around. Our Reeves answer to someone else - Cellan.

If you merge the two guilds, you'd have two parallel and independent structures, each with only one thing in common - the person at the top. Frankly, this would just be confusing. It would also not be amenable to x-blocks/mob progs. And for what? What would it gain? If the Court guild isn't working out, I don't think inserting it into the Reeves will do much aside from screwing up the Reeves.
I am touched that you mentioned the count(ess) of Lothos.

This brings up a good point. Merging the Court and Reeves is not just about the Queen. There are nobles that are part of the Order, the Physicians, and other guilds. Should they necessarily just be able to see everything the Reeves know "for free"?

I do think the Queen should be able to easily be aware of everything going in the Reeves (if and only if she cares to), but I'm strongly opposed to just all nobles across the board having that sort of access.

Maybe down the road when gnotes are able to be restricted by rank.

PS: You nobles in the other guilds, don't take this personally. Since I don't know what the Reeves know, I don't have any reason to bring this up in relation to any particular character.

I'll change my vote if, instead of a full-scale merger, the Reeves instead have a formally defined role that liaises them with the Court.

Maybe that was my plan all along.

In D&D terms, knights are now fighter/clerics. Reeves should be fighter/rogues (obviously, focusing on diplomacy!).

If you make it a noble right only to own land instead of a Reeve right, I think that'd be a good bridge between the two. Just putting it out there, once more! And I swear, there was a reason why I dropped that battle... just have to go look at the thread again, probably.
