Novels to get into TI mood?

I don't know where to start. I like to read but haven't read much fantasy or even sci-fi. Picky in looking for quality. Help me discover good fiction to get into that "mood" ...

I thought The Poison Study and The Name of the Rose (Umberto Eco) were good. There's one I really liked that I can't find that would be perfect.. the Scarlet Bishop or something...
