Warrants

... block couriers, cause npc guard mobs to attack...

I'm not really keen on how they're done.

Anyone else share my opinion and perhaps want to discuss a better way?

They don't cause NPC mobs to attack - at least, they didn't while I was Justiciar.

To be honest, I found warrants to be a touch underwhelming, in large part because of that lack. As far as inconveniencing someone goes, warrants are no worse than a Blacklist, which I always found a touch odd.

It'd be nice if law-types could type warrant and get a list of names, short descs and long descs (and perhaps anything else that is manually added to the file) for each person who is warranted.

It's fine that the mobs don't attack, but as a Reeve I'd like to be aware that I'm speaking to someone who is wanted (within IC reason)

If they are wanted, I would like the MOBs to attack. Southside has MOBS who attack Reeves and Nobles, see no reason why lawful mobs would not attack a wanted criminal. I also think it would be neat if mobs attacked each other, sort of on the borderine southside and mainland, where reeve mobs and southside mobs occasionally went at it. that would be neat.

But, on that note, I would also like the rules of actually warranting someone to be posibly looked at and changed. Maybe two diff warrants, a verbal one, than a crown sanctioned one. The crown sanctioned one obviously would be the one that guards attack, while a verbal one is simply the Earl Marshal, Justiciar, or the Higher Order members requesting to have such said person brought in for a word.

I'm not keen on warranted folk being unable to receive mail. It implies that Reeves control the courier's - which isn't true. If they did, why wouldn't the mail simply be routed to them to collect as well? It's completely obvious when someone has been warranted too, instead of subtle like a real life warrant would be.

I'd propose to make it so that if a player is warranted, instead of blocking mail, etc, two things would happen:

1) Reeves would be alerted on their 'Reeve-Net' channel when the player enters a public room.
2) If the player is recognized by a city guard mob, then the Reeves would also get an alert that the player is at the location.

I know it's not as mean or pervasive, but I'd rather people get arrested by PCs and see warrants enable PCs.

I'd just add that I hope the warranted pplz aren't recognized if they're in disguise...

Yes, if your cloaked and concealed, then really there is no way to tell if it is you are not.

Hmm, didn't really get a positive or negative on changing it from its current form?

Disguises noted. :)
