Plans are in the works to hold a Daravi battle for which I intend to roll up NPCs for both sides and recruit players to play it out. This should serve the dual purpose of 1) a fun way to decide an actual IC battle in Edessa and 2) give people some chance to play with new combat with and against some different, more evenly ranked opponents.
It will be a little bit yet first as I want the combat techniques more settled before we do this, but what sort of battle type would you want?
Battle in Daravi
I love it. I'm excited. And I hope that I can make it, whenever this will be.
My ideal is a "capture and hold" scenario, where the PCs will either be defending against such an attack, or pushing forward and making their own attempt to claim some more territory. Could allow for open field combat, as well as fighting through a fortress or keep.

excellent - touch points galore! and some skull smashing. Any sort of hold the line scenario would do well, long as is feels more like an attack/defend situation (as mentioned in the post above) and not just a general melee. could do all kinds of fun stuff with this though - will ranged combat be in for it?
I am looking at something where I can have players on both the Lithmorran and the Daravi side, and that they would both have win conditions. How would you envision this sort of set-up working for each side? So it's more or less fair.Clockwork wrote:My ideal is a "capture and hold" scenario, where the PCs will either be defending against such an attack, or pushing forward and making their own attempt to claim some more territory. A siege! Daravi have sieged a castle. The brave knights trapped within must kill rats and eat them. The knights who kill the most rats don't die!
Anyway, I'm a little confused as to the current status of the Daravi conflict and all that. It'd help to have more information regarding the status of the conflict. My understanding from the game help files that both sides used to have noble hostages ensuring a truce. My understanding was that Daravi severely outmatched Lith, and the only reason there had been historical sense was because of Geography, internal strive in Daravi, and the fact that we were only matched against the 'protectorates'.

The current status of the Daravi conflict!
Lithmore organized a major attack against Daravi (the protectorates) and they were able to capture some parts of the protectorates in what is now called the March of Edessa and is currently led by Cellan. As the final battle of the assault, the Sultan might have died (not entirely clear), but the Daravi offensive disappeared for a time after that. It started again as raiding and generally making the Lithmorrans uncomfortable, and has been taking up again more, starting with the capture and execution of the Marquis Edessa. Things are not stable at the moment, and dangerous to go anywhere, but the Lithmorrans do have fortresses there. They also have a pretty secure island off the coast that used to be a city on the coast that the Lithmorrans had captured and the Daravi broke off in a pretty impressive show of magics. No one is really entirely sure what is going on with the Daravi or what they are plotting.
For the battle, I am thinking it will decide the fate of a Lithmorran-controlled fortress.
