This is an old fear of mine - gathering a gate node by accident and getting killed because of it.
Could we have a confirmation of some sort involved in it since an accidental gather can get you killed? Like "gather yes" for gate nodes?
Gate Node Confirmation
I would like to second this idea - depending on how difficult it would be to implement it would make me a bit more at ease traveling the astral. A lot of times when pooling I'll set a path and gather as I go, but if I were to encounter lag there's the off chance that my input doesn't get through until I get into a room with a gate node, which sounds.. scary, to say the least (I've had this happen with a node of opposing element before - while I was inconvenienced by my pool being wiped, I was glad I wasn't thrown into plain sight by a sneaky gate node.)

I wasn't initially going to voice my support of this, but given Radiune brought up the exact fear I have regarding gate nodes, I figured it's not as silly as I initially thought.
So yeah, also in support of Gather confirmations for Gate Nodes.

I would argue the fact you cannot see what is presently going on on the opposite side of the gate node is scary enough. Like the confirmation does nothing to prevent the possibility of warping into a room full of people with whererp off, or into a wilderness room with a hostile animal.
All the confirmation would do is prevent lag from screwing over a mage. Plenty of times I've been in Astral dealing with slow internet, and an input I make to gather doesn't get sent until the next room, typically resulting in a loss of magic pooling. Lag certainly wasn't something you intended for with the system.
