The bells are rung throughout the city, summoning the faithful to the
steps of the cathedral where the Cardinal is standing. He is flanked on
either side by the Archbishop and an unknown man. After sufficient people
are gathered, the His Holiness addresses the crowds.

"Brothers and Sisters, it is my duty and privilege to announce to you the
changes in the ecclesiastical administration of the kingdom and the Duchy
of Lithmore. First, it is my pleasure to present to you, His Holy Honor
Auberon mal Halliwell, Grand Inquisitor. Due to his rank, I have chosen to
ordain him, with the permission of the High Synod, the second of the three
Archbishops of Lithmorre. His See will be Saint Aelwyn's Cathedral." He
gestures to his left. "His Eminence, Aurther Auguste, has been reassigned
the See of Loryth, though I expect he will still be a common sight around
the city."

He pauses and smiles. "I have word from The Cardinal of Vandago that Her
Grace Jenifyr von Vakhrova who served as Grand Inquisitor under Her
Holiness Romana von Mestan has returned to the city to bolster our ranks.
Please help me support them as you all have supported me in the past. I
have great faith in all of them that they will continue to see the Lord's
work done."

The Cardinal bows his head. "Lord grant these humble servants the
inspiration to conceive, wisdom to execute, and strength to support all
plans that will fulfill our divine mandate to bring troubled souls to the
Lord of Springs loving embrace. So say we all."

Zeita's approval shifts from Approved to Loved.

It has been recently overheard in bars; off-duty Reeves snickering in their
drinks, about the blackmail case at the courier's office, and how the Grand
Magnate helped them to set up the crooked courier carmine-handed.
Literally, with a letter full of red cosmetics! It appears to be noticed
and appreciated by the over-worked Reeves of the capital city that the
Grand Magnate and her guild are always willing to aid in keeping peace and
order in the frequently tumultuous town we all know and love. So they lift
their mugs (be it coffee or ale) to the caring and cunning Grand Magnate
Zeita von Zarrova. "At least someone in this crazy city makes our job
easier!"

_________________________________________________________________________
On the morning of Solisda 18, Augustus 364, the Prime Medicus issued a
statement before a small gathering of guild representatives that was soon
disseminated throughout the city proper:

"You will all have heard, by now, the pervasive rumours that Lithmore
Capitol is on the verge of a city-wide plague outbreak. I wish to address
you all today, not only to confirm those rumours, but also to provide some
basic information and directives about symptoms, treatments, and contacts.

Thus far, we have been able to ascertain that patients in the illness'
earliest stages might feel feverish, weak, and nauseated, and may produce
large amounts of phlegm; in its secondary stages, after three days of
incubation, victims begin coughing up blood.

We cannot stress enough how serious is this plague in its late stages, and
how imperative that all individuals exhibiting its early symptoms attend
one of the designated quarantines for immediate examination and treatment
by representatives of the Physician Guild. The Northside quarantine is
located at the Lehl Stoddard Recovery Ward in the Madison Hospital, while
those who find themselves in the Southside are instructed to proceed to the
Almshouse.

The Physicians Guild are actively working with the Crown and Reeves to
treat the illness, and beseech the people of Lithmore to remain calm; we
will turn back the tide of the plague, and are endeavouring to contain it
as quickly as possible. Should anyone have any questions, I invite them to
contact either myself or Rain Reed.

During this difficult time, I plead for anyone with good medical ability to
volunteer to help research the plague's symptoms and treat its victims; in
return, you will be compensated financially, as fully as we can. For those
who lack medical training, the Madison is currently in dire need of
financial donations to help stem the illness.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to address a recent rumour
that has been spreading through the city: contrary to the beliefs of some,
myself, Doctor Reed, and our physicians care are ardently and equally for
all the peoples of Lithmore, whether they come from the northern or
southern sectors of the city. We labour endlessly to ensure the good
health of all who come to us for healing. -All- individuals who believe
themselves infected with the plague will be given equal and full treatment
at both our quarantine centres, no matter their wealth, status, age, or
race. Should you find yourself unable to seek direct medical attention,
however, concoctions such as Breathe Easy, Phlegmatic Herbal Brew, and
Willowbark tea can be used to help ease the early symptoms; this should
only be used until you are able to attend a quarantine section for more
thorough treatment, however.

Again, I ask anyone with any questions, offers of aid, or general concerns
to contact myself, Shaylei de Roldan, or Doctor Rain Reed. We will make
ourselves as available as possible over the next month but ask, in the mean
time, for your good faith, prayers, and fortitude in the face of this new,
but not insurmountable challenge".

A shipment heading back from Edessa with surplus iron weapons was set
upon once it was nearly to Lithmore. One veteran of the war managed to
escape by abandoning the cart once he saw his fellows slain. He explains
to any who will listen - deep in his drinks at a local tavern - that they
were coming up King's Concourse south of the city and suddenly a huge gust
of wind blew the cart over out of nowhere. Then whirlwinds started up,
carrying long strips of linen that impaired vision and tangled up those
escorting the cart, restricting movements. Sudden bursts of fire and flying
debris struck even these battle-hardened sorts. The surviving veteran
refuses to go back to check on the cart, claiming that they are all dead
and he doesn't want to be too.

On Augustus the 19th the beloved Zeita von Zarrova stepped down from her
position as Grand Magnate and passed the title on to the Magnate of
Lithmore, Emma ab Courtland.

Newly titled Grand Magnate ab Courtland wished to reiterate that though
things may be tumultuous while she becomes acclimated to the scope of her
new responsibilities, the dust will soon settle. All existing contracts,
of course, remain valid.

Guild members should direct their concerns and guild-related inquiries to
Grand Magnate Emma ab Courtland from here onward, as should individuals
interested in doing business with the Merchants.

Scuttlebutt about the strange golden fog that swept the city is the
major topic of discussion in Lithmore at the moment. Given the
all-consuming interest in its source and nature, several witnesses have
stepped forward to offer testimony; these stories have been combined to
form a single narrative being told and retold in the streets.

On Augustus 19th, the newly-retired Zeita von Zarrova was seen crossing the
city with a basket full of herbs and herbal concoctions. However, instead
of heading to the hospital, she is reported to have turned off and into the
church, where an acolyte was later said to have seen her heading up into
the belltower.

No more than an hour later, a golden fog began to descend over Lithmore,
growing and growing as it emanated from the belltower of the cathedral.
The scent of it was truly heavenly, unlike anything known to man - and try
as one might they could not avoid it, as it crept under every door and into
every nook and cranny within the city and surrounding countryside.

It wasn't long before the true purpose of the fog began to reveal itself,
with many plague victims soon reporting increased ease in breathing, less
coughing, and reduction of fever. Some would go on to recover entirely,
much more swiftly than the regular course of the disease implied, though
most were only helped for a day or two before falling prey to the symptoms
once more.

The fog dissipated about two hours after its initial formation. Those
investigating the tower afterward found little remaining to explain what
had happened. One youth from Iolaide Avenue said that he saw a woman flying
in the clouds at about the same time, but little heed was given to him.

_________________________________________________________________________
As Augustus rolls towards its end, the plague that has swept the city
only continues to ravage the streets.

The Physicians' quarantine efforts have no doubt done much to limit the
spread of the disease, taking many ill patients off the street before they
can pass the corruption along to others.

However, the Southside Almshouse is busy with most of its beds full, only
kept from exceeding capacity by the fact well over half of its patients
seem to be succumbing. Madison is less cramped, with more room and a
healthier class of patients resulting in somewhat lower death rates, but
the spread northside appears to be accelerating. Rumors imply that some
individuals are actively avoiding quarantine, whether out of ignorance or
fear, even though they show symptoms.

The golden fog that rolled over Lithmore appears to have outright cured
less than a quarter of the afflicted individuals, although most enjoyed a
brief respite from their symptoms that has now faded.

No true cure for the plague appears to have been discovered yet, only
treatments that lessen the misery of the sufferers and perhaps save some
borderline cases from death. It remains to be seen how great a toll the
currently unnamed illness will take before its course is run.

Rumor has cropped up from the Merchants Guild and mercenary groups about
the city that a bearded man by the name of Roderick dul Helayn, a Vavardi
nearly mistaken for Farin by size, has taken over as the head of the
guild's strongarms. Multiple messages have been going out towards
mercenaries currently owing no allegiance to other employers with an able
hand with a reputable record insofar as their trade is concerned.

Merchant Caravans going in and out of the city are being assigned armed and
armored men, put through enough regimented discipline by the former
veteran. Roderick himself is rumored, and confirmed, to be joining on a
number of the higher profile routes to ensure Grand Magnate Courtland's
presence and authority.

Tenebrae's approval shifts from Approved to Loved.

Late in the night of Augustus 22 a large shipment of food and blankets
arrived at the southside almshouse. Witnesses say that cloaked figures
carried the supplies in, using the cover of darkness to deliver the
supplies. While initially no one claimed responsability for the supplies,
word quickly spread amongst southside that it had to have come from the
Tenebrae and the Brotherhood to help the people suffering from the plague.
