I'd like to suggest an addition to the rumor system: Paid advertisements.

For 20 silver, a character can add a rumor that is free for other people to hear with the express purpose of allowing people to advertise shops, upcoming events, that sort of thing.

Alternatively, maybe this could be something added to the black market system since that has a settable duration, and in certain cases, will auto-add a rumor directing people to check bounty lists.

Whatever the specifics, I think something like this would fill a niche as IC Events are usually big important notices, game-wide messengers only catch whoever is on at the time, IC boards are frequently filled with old and obsolete posts, and most people don't enjoy spending the higher amounts of silver for rumors that aren't juicy.

I'm cautiously in favor, though I've been recently wondering if rumors are just too expensive in general because our rumor mill seems to lack a lot of love.

My character would probably be more involved with it if it didn't cost so much. It seems especially odd to me that the more a rumor is talked about, the more it costs to find out about it.

Forgot to post earlier, but I love this idea!

I find I'm just not in rumor mill rooms that often lately, which discourages me a bit from picking up rumors/adding to them. Maybe the Troubadour perk of access anywhere anytime should just be the normal approach? Troubs can still get them for free.
