Should we set up a code method to handle a bloodless coup?

A little warfare might be fun.

It's complex, yes, but realistically it's possible. It's only in the "the staff haven't figured out how to manage a plot like that without playing 'against' players in the pbase" sense that it's currently impossible - and that impossibility is definitely an OOC constraint on the IC world. Frankly, I do want huge plots with long lasting, serious consequences, but it's just hard to do within our framework at this time. Adding commands like this allows for some of that to be playable to a degree.

Warfare against a monarch with 50% approval isn't realistic or beneficial to the pbase IMHO.

You know what a leader with 48% approval is called?

President Clinton. :/

That -would- be fun if we had the player base to support it. But we don't.

High GL turn over isn't fun with such a small player base. At least, I don't look back at those times and think it was fun. That was my player experience as someone who wasn't involved much in those turn overs. And it really complicates current RP. On the one hand, everyone's supposed to hate the Thieves for having mages in there constantly, but on the other hand, we're supposed to turn a blind eye to the fact that the Knights/Reeves/Order have had high turn over and/or no members around to help anyone, because realistically there would be NPCs helping. It doesn't make sense.

I'm with Gavin on this - if that's the intent, then the spots that are thematically important - monarch, cardinal, justiciar, whatever - should be NPC and we're playing constant turmoil for smaller parts. Otherwise, this isn't the kind of thing in my mind that is going to grow the pbase. If anything, it's going to make it smaller.

You could also end up with people couping each other back and forth as supporters go active or inactive. :/
