Kinaed wonders, "Today's agenda is:
- Staff Updates
- Player Heartbeat
- Player Topics
Does anyone have anything they want to raise and put into the agenda to ensure that we talk about it today?"
Kinaed says, "With that extended silence, I'll just jump in and kick off my updates. If you think of anything you want to discuss, send me a tell."
Kinaed claims, "Last week, I didn't do much. I more spent time asking staff here to do things over the week that I wouldn't be able to do, which is how all of the changes that happened in game suddenly got documented. *grin*"
Kinaed says, "OOCly, I picked up my mom and (surprise) my brother from the airport."
Kinaed declaims, "Also, I have a topic sent in a tell - mage pooling. I've noted that topic, and we will discuss it during player topics - Thanks!"
Kinaed states, "That's all for me. Azarial, you're up."
Azarial claims, "Let's see."
Azarial says, "Catchig up on RL chores, cleaning a couple of laptops, added a few new 'disasters' for iris' event, an a small assortment of bugs."
Azarial states, "About half done on sacrifice, as well."
Azarial states, "I hvae a few leads on a couple of crashes, but those are still in the tracking phase."
Kinaed wonders, "Azarial's next big code project is Places Code. Is everyone familiar with the spec?"
A lithmorran man with dark skin and green eyes shakes his head
Kinaed has created the Places Spec Updated[20].
Kinaed drops the following:

Rhea Sommus shrugs "Familiar enough to understand the basics of it."

Subject: Places Overview
Date: Sun Mar 16 08:51:03 2014
Lunisda, June 29
OVERVIEW
Syntax: join <name|place> <emote>
join kick <name> <emote>
join <place|name> large
join create <place>
join leave <emote>
eavesdrop <name|place>
jmote <emote>
jsay <say>
jwhisper <say>
When players are joined to a place, all jmotes, jsays, etc will echo
only to themselves and those joined to the same place, used exactly like
their counterparts, emote and say.
Join <name|place> <emote> will either join a character with a furniture
object or join a character at the furniture object their target player is
already joined to. The joining emote will echo to all players in the room
so that players know the character is now joined. Players must be adjacent
to a place to join it. IE, you must approach the place to join it in the
room. When joined, your coordinates will match that of the place.
Example:
join Azarial slides into the booth next to /aza.
Kinaed slides into the booth next to Azarial. 0oin]
or
join booth slides into the booth next to /aza.
Kinaed slides into the booth next to Azarial. 0oin]
If no players are joined with the furniture, then the object's long
desc will appear as normal in a room (thus, if it has the holylight flag,
the long desc will not appear in the room). If a player is joined to
a furniture object, the the furniture object's long desc will print
to the room with sub-info regarding the player's presence (thus, a
furniture piece that is flagged Holylight's long desc will become
visible), and the character's normal action will not appear in the room.
Example:
A table surrounded by two couches squats in the corner.
Kinaed, Azarial, and Takta are there.
(Kinaed, Azarial, and Takta will not otherwise be reported to the room.)
When looking at a furniture object, the following line will be appended
to the object:
<Object Extra Description>
A table surrounded by two couches holds 3 of 6 people.
Join create <place> will create a temporary furniture item in the room.
The person who created it will automatically be joined to it when they
exit the POLCA, and the temporary furniture object will be silently
and automatically extracted when the last player joined to it departs.
They can also be purged.
Join kick <name> <emote> will remove someone from a place you've joined.
Anyone who is joined can kick anyone else out, but an emote must be included
to say how they're removing the person (generally physically pushing them
out, etc). Being kicked will appear as an emote with a message to the other
players in the room. When kicked or leaving a place, your coordinates will
match the place. Also, kicked characters auto-matically eavesdrop.
Example:
join kick azarial kicks /az out of the conversation.
Kinaed kicks Azarial out of the conversation. [Kick]
Join leave <emote> will also leave a place, showing the players in the
room an emote to that effect.
Example:
join leave slides out of *table.
Kinaed slides out of a table surrounded by two couches. [Leave]
Join create <place> will enter a player into a POLCA to create a
temporary place that will be destroyed when the player leaves. The 'place'
will automatically be entered into the places POLCA as the keyword, but
can be edited once the player is in the POLCA. Example, typing 'join
create table' will enter the POLCA as follows:
Places Preparation
Keywords : table
Short Desc : a table <short desc, limit: 59 chars, default 'a <place>'>
Long Desc : A table is here. <long desc, limit: 70 chars, default 'a <place> is here.'>
Seats : <the number of people a place can hold, defaults 2>
Type "done" to create the place or "cancel" to abort.
Places will automatically be created at the coordinates of the player. When
a temporary place is created, it is destroyed when the last person leaves its
join.

Subject: Eavesdropping

EAVESDROPPING
Syntax: eavesdrop <direction>
eavesdrop <place>
eavesdrop <name>
eavesdrop stop
Eavesdropping is the art of listening to others without being detected.
Characters can 'eavesdrop <place>' or 'eavesdrop <name>' (which will
actually eavesdrop on the place a particular person is sitting at to capture
their conversation), and 'eavesdrop <direction>'. Eavesdropping uses a
character's sneak skill to determine success or failure. Failure means
that they can be noticed observing.
The further away an eavesdropping player is, the more garbled speech
patterns (using whisper code standards) will be. When listening in a
direction, no matter how close the other player is on the other side of a
door, the code will treat the player as at the furthest distance away.
If the players at a joined place are whispering, their distance is
treated as doubled up to the maximum possible range.
Attempts to eavesdrop have 100% success rate. If you're eavesdropping,
you will receive all of the emotes/says that another player makes, it's
just a question of how far away you are (to garble speech) and how
likely it is that you'll be detected (the further away you are, the
more easier the sneak roll for success, but the less you'll hear).
When eavesdropping, if you fail your sneak check, all characters your
character is listening to will do a straight-up wisdom check (roll self
wis). If they beat you in the contest, they will notice your character's
snooping.
If a player notices your character is snooping, they will receive one
of two messages. If in the room, they will see something like:
Azarial notices Kinaed is observing <joined obj short desc>.
If caught snooping from outside, and the door is open, they will see:
Azarial notices someone observing from the east.
If caught snooping from outside, and the door is closed, they will
see:
Azarial notices a faint rustle outside the <direction> <door name>.
Eavesdropping from another room is easy if the door is open. If the door
is closed, specialized equipment is required to eavesdrop. Also, players
who are hidden must be detected, or they cannot be caught eavesdropping.
A new no_eavesdrop flag will be created to add to mobs. If a mob who
cares about that sort of thing is there, attempting to eavesdrop in
front of the mob will have the mob respond, audiably to the room:
"Hey, eavesdropping is rude. Cut it out," Klaus warns Kinaed.
Kinaed exclaims to Temi, "You're up, Temi!"

SEE MESSAGES AND CALCULATIONS
For eavesdropping, if a player is eavesdropping, they will see all
jmotes, jsays, etc, with text garbled as if their targets were whispering
at the range they actually are at away from the joined place. However,
players who are not eavesdropping can detect that someone is
eavesdropping. Until a watching player is detected, their eavesdropping
will have no code messages attached and otherwise no one will be alerted.
However, on each jmote or jsay at a place, an eavesdropper can be caught.
A sneak check for the eavesdropper, and if failed, a simple self-wis
roll (as per the roll self <stat> command) for every present third party
the observer's wis may detect the eavesdropper. If the eavesdropper is
caught, the observer will get the following message to tell them they
have caught an eavesdropper:
Azarial notices Kinaed is observing <joined obj short desc>.
The eavesdropper will not be alerted that they have been caught. Once the
eavesdropper has been made, the observer will no longer have a contest at
the beginning of each emote. Rather, when they look in the room, they will
see:
Azarial leans against the wall, arms folded.
She is eavesdropping on the conversation at a table of couches.
When hidden, a player cannot be caught eavesdropping unless they have
been seen/marked by an observer.

Temi states, "Okay. So, I did my assignment on clearing out notes and things."
Kinaed claims to Hunapo le Marama, "Go ahead and read the spec. Please post any suggestions or thoughts on the Personal board to Staff."
Kinaed beams at Temi, "Thanks for picking that up and running with it."
Hunapo le Marama nods.
Temi claims, "And once again, working on seasonality. Current plan is for most things to be a bit cheaper in the Summer and a bit more expensive in the Winter, with some things where that is more exaggerated."
Temi states, "And I'm looking to see if I need to add new materials to specifically target things. I'm thinking like certain imported stuff and suhc."
Kinaed nods at Temi.
Temi says, "I am not looking at as complex of a system as was originally being discussed by Nedyra when that was first looked at... because it obviously never happened."
Temi grins.
Kinaed nods at Temi.
Temi states, "And that's about what I've been up t."
Kinaed says, "A bit of pragmatism never hurt anyone."
Kinaed smiles.
Kinaed says to Temi, "Thanks."
Kinaed states to Takta, "You're up."
Takta trails off, "So! Smaller things first: I've helped Iris here and there with plots, did my chunk of the documentation/testing of new systems and bug fixes..."
Takta says, "And then on the bigger level, I've chowed down on woodworking and am in the very final stages of completing it."
Kinaed claps her hands and cheers, "Thank you, too, for going through the changes."
Kinaed wonders, "Nice! Rollout this coming OOC Chat, do you think?"
Takta states, "Probably Tuesday the 31st, or Wed the 1st, will be the 'go live' day."
Kinaed nods at Takta.
Takta claims, "Depending on some coordination with Az."
Azarial states, "Delilah is still on vacation, I think? and xinoe has been working through requests and changes for documentation."
Kinaed says to Takta, "You'll have made your intended "Rollout by April" then. "
Azarial needs to get back to woodworking.
Albrecht rubs his hands together excitedly for new woodworking (OOC Emote)
Takta states, "There WILL probably be typos, etc, so play with it when it comes out and let me know."
Kinaed nods at Azarial.
Takta claims to Kinaed, "Yup! That inspired me to work like crazy this week."
Kinaed beams.
Takta declaims, "So that's that!"
Kinaed questions, "Okay, anything else to add, Takta, or did that wrap up your update?"
Takta claims, "That wraps me up."
Kinaed queries, "Okay, next is Player Heartbeat, then Player Topics (and a question about mage pooling). So, Player Heartbeat...
How has RP been this week, folks? Is the game fun? Anything more the staff can or should be doing for you guys?"
Albrecht says OOCly, "Things are going good for me. I'm glad to be back in RP again. Just need to get -this- guy out there"
Hunapo le Marama states, "Oh man... So much fun. Huge props to Iris."
A lithmorran man with dark skin and green eyes says, "RP has been absolutely incredible for me. Couldn't make me happier And -agreed- So many props to Iris"
Azarial questions, "The constant night causing issues?"
Rhea Sommus claims, "Aside from going through candles a bit more, and being a tch annoying I can't really say there is any issues"
Kinaed questions, "Excellent to hear. Az, do we know how long this is planned to continue?"
A lithmorran man with dark skin and green eyes "I think it's fine honestly as well."
Azarial says, "No idea. hvae to ask iris."
Takta says, "I believe the duration, to some extent, is plot related."
Azarial is backstage with a hand on the lightswitch.
Kinaed nods at Takta.
Rhea Sommus prays it does not last for an ooc month
Takta states, "I.e., y'all might have to go turn the sun back on."
Kinaed nods.
A lithmorran man with dark skin and green eyes grins "I'm fine with the lights off forever to some extent."
Kinaed claims, "Okay, I'll consider that wrapped up for Player Heartbeat - thanks for letting us know your thoughts on the forever-night, and I'll make sure they get back to Iris."
Temi states, "It will not be permanent."
Azarial says, "Other than after a while, the trees and plants die, and food becomes scarce."
Azarial states, "And then the woodcutters riot becuase the new system is treeless."
Temi states, "There may well be permanent affects, but we're not going into endless night unable to establish a new normal of regular play."
A lithmorran man with dark skin and green eyes states, "I figured. But the benefits and RP I can see happening because of it are amazing."
Kinaed asks, "To share everyone the context of events...
Mages can now auto-invoke. (Similar to what happens for 24 hours on Magebane)
Random mage: Are we still able to pool magic despite the auto-invoking? Or are we SoL until it is over?"
Rhea Sommus laughs "I would imagine the whole farin quarter being underground now would be a somewhat permanent affect."
Kinaed states, "The answer is that mages cannot pool by casting spells (particularly evoking) as that auto-balances. However, mages can still pool by meditation and learning from other mages."
Rhea Sommus grimaces "Well... shit."
Temi states, "Both of those always being intended as the major way of training originally."
Kinaed nods at Temi.
Takta claims, "But think about this - now may not be the best time to grind, but it's an amazing time for mage RP and plot."
Kinaed states, "And the change is not permanent."
Takta states, "If you've ever had an idea in mind that wasn't quite feasible, you might well be able to pull it off now - while the window of opportunity's open."
Rhea Sommus trails off, "The change may not be permanent, but it certainly doesn't seem like it will be resolved in short time either... "
Kinaed claims, "I'll make sure Iris gets this feedback."
Albrecht says OOCly, "If I played a mage, I would be doing cartwheels. I hate the invoking process. Everyone is a free natural mage for the duration of this. it's utterly brokenly powerful"
Temi says, "You are still able to grind if you want to do so on your mage. But you will have to do so with astral. "
"Which does not let you pool elements besides your own righ?" a lithmorran man with dark skin and green eyes asks curiously "Unless somethings changed?" [a lithmorran man with dark skin and green eyes]
Kinaed states, "In any case, on the balance, it's to pursue a fun plot, and isn't forever."
Kinaed nods at a lithmorran man with dark skin and green eyes.
Rhea Sommus shakes head "That's only partially correct. You can only grind your element. When you are are grand master in your element... astral becomes useless
Takta states, "Except to find teachers."
Kinaed states, "It's still a place to meet and hang with other mages."
Takta states, "Which can still teach you in off elements."
Kinaed nods at Takta.
Takta claims, "And you need teachers for the spells anyway."
"Can we be taught -in- astral now? Or is it still limited to in person?" a lithmorran man with dark skin and green eyes murmurs [a lithmorran man with dark skin and green eyes]
Temi says, "Honestly, if we're slowing down grinding temporarily, I'm more happy than upset."
Takta states, "You have to be taught in person, but astral lets you make connections."
Kinaed nods to Takta.
Rhea Sommus claims, "But then you have to rely on their charisma in hopes that your current level in a element or moon does not exceed what they can teach you"
A lithmorran man with dark skin and green eyes nods "I'm just not sure if there's been any major changes there is all. It's been a while."
Temi claims to Rhea Sommus, "Yes, you are inconvenienced. And you'll lvie through it."
"I don't mind it honestly. I think it's going to be absolutely incredible for RP all around." a lithmorran man with dark skin and green eyes says with a smile "It's an inconvenience, but frankly, it would be too broken to be able to spam the invokes for pool [a lithmorran man with dark skin and green eyes]
Kinaed nods at a lithmorran man with dark skin and green eyes.
Kinaed says, "Exactly what we thought."
A lithmorran man with dark skin and green eyes claims, "It's not perfect, but hell. I don't really mind all things considered"
Kinaed states, "It'll come back as usual, and it probably is only a week or two away at max."
An aquiline-nosed man of a dark umber complexion questions, "Are the demons just coming out in Lithmore?"
Rhea Sommus nods "I don't deny that it would be broken... but just me personally I would rather not be able to auto-invoke if it means losing the ability to pool... but that's just me
Takta claims, "Header coming soon to clarify the plot."
Temi says to Rhea Sommus, "Then you can make an effort to fix it too, for your own selfish reasons."
Kinaed states, "Okay, that covers a player topic. Is there anything else anyone wants to discuss? Otherwise, we can close out early."
Albrecht says OOCly, "I missed you guys!"
Kinaed smiles at Albrecht.
Takta wonders, "Any questions about woodworking coming in?"
Kinaed claims to Albrecht, "Pleased to see you again as well."
Albrecht says OOCly, "Actually yes Takta"
A lithmorran man with dark skin and green eyes hugs /vand (OOC Emote)
Takta claims, "It will involve some pretty big changes so ask away, and then I'll explain a couple things too."
Albrecht says OOCly, "How will we be handling the transition with existing wood stockpiles and how soon can we start ordering our new version wood axes?"
Takta says, "Existing wood stockpiles will be exchangeable for 1 log of common wood per 150 units of EITHER hardwood OR softwood you have stockpiled, up to a max of 10 logs/1500 units."
Takta says, "You will not be able to exchange for exotic wood, as it's supposed to be more expensive and old woodcutting was free."
Takta says, "I'll update the recipe for the new woodcutter's axe right now, so blacksmiths will be able to make it."
Takta says, "They are also already on sale on-grid."
Takta says, "The axes have 5 'charges' and then are expended, but 5 woodcuts gives you a LOT of wood - enough to make almost two whole wardrobes."
Takta claims, "Speaking of woodcutting: the skill will go away, and now regardless of skill, you'll be able to cut 1 log per axe from forest rooms with wood nodes in them. 95% of wood nodes will spawn as common woods, but you have a 5% chance of spawning an exotic wood node."
Takta says, "Otherwise, exotic wood must be bought."
Takta says, "So, no more free wood, but no more endless woodcutting to make items."
Takta muses, "Any other questions?"
Albrecht says OOCly, "Okay cool. For those of us with woodcutting, will we be refunded our skill?"
Azarial claims, "Baby, brb"
Kinaed says, "Yes."
Kinaed states, "When the skill is eliminated, the XP will auto return to you."
Albrecht says OOCly, "Okay, cool. I think that covers most of my questions."
Albrecht says OOCly, "Thank you!"
Kinaed smiles.
Takta states, "Everything, btw, is negotiable."
Kinaed asks, "Anyone else have any queries or thoughts?"
Kinaed nods at Takta.
Kinaed states, "This is what was laid out, but we'd be happy to hear if we've overlooked anything."
Takta says, "If a recipe's missing, if something just sucks, etc, tell me and I'll consider changing it."
Rhea Sommus ponders "Will the second part of this plot be a bit more open to the public, since prior the actual 'informationin the know' part of the plot was rather exclusive to orderknights?"
Takta claims, "I believe that's part of the express intention."
Kinaed says, "Okay, anything else? I'm happy to wrap this meeting up a bit early. I didn't mention the trouble I'd gotten into OOCly this week, so I'm sort of hankering to run off, take painkillers, etc."
Kinaed says, "Okay, I'm going to call it a close early."
A lithmorran man with dark skin and green eyes nods to Kinaed
Kinaed states, "Once again, please review the Places Spec and provide any feedback or suggestions on the Personal Board directed to Staff."
Kinaed says, "Thank you, everyone, for coming. I hope you have a great week and enjoy your RP immensely."
Kinaed trails off, "The countdown to return begins now... 1... 2..."
Azarial says, "Grab a pillow"
