Keepalive timer and Editors

Just a minor annoyance, but I use a timer to spam the keepalive command every few minutes to prevent my ISP from dropping the connection, and I have to check often when writing mail or the like to be sure I don't leave any 'keepalives' in my messages.

I wondered if 'keepalive' could be added as a command to the editor similar to a @ command, so it'll not write it into the messages you're writing, and will return the usual 'Gaggable keepalive command.' output.
If it requires a @, perhaps the current keepalive command could also work as @keepalive outside of editors.
