The healing properties of honey has been recorded for generations as being as being an antibiotic and an antioxidant. Traditionally, in many cultures would even use it for wound care, applying it directly to open wounds to help with closing it off and preventing infection. In 2007, the FDA approved Manuka Honey for use in treating wounds and skin ulcers. It also is noted for being used as a cough suppressor.
In the middle ages, Physicians would have believed in it's healing properties and used it for that same reasons. There exists today, a variation of honey called Medihoney. Essentially, a version of honey were the bees harvest pollen from specially treated flowers, meant to prevent botulism from getting into the honey. Botulism, being a dangerous bacteria.
Long story short... I would love to see some form of Manuka Honey, or medical honey that can be used for wound care. Directly applied to open wounds a character might get.

For clarification, this would be something used to bind a wound, and help prevent 'corruption', as they say. And possibly to treat wounds.
