Temi declares, "Alright! Ghed and Leta both found themselves with conflicts today so it will be just me with you lot here today!"
Ruby muses, "Can you use animal feces to embellish things?"
Himbopotamus wonders, "Are the aggro animals new or am I forgetful?"
Temi muses, "Can I start with a volunteer to scribe for us today?"
Flower claims, "Poor Temi"
Brando states, "Coolio Temi "
Ruby looks at Dragor.
Dragor states, "No."
Dragor states, "I'm too tired."
Temi says to Himbopotamus, "I'm not sure how new they are, but it's been a while now at least"
Himbopotamus nods.
Himbopotamus states, "Scribe is just post the log? I can do that."
Dragor claims, "Like my eyes are drifting closed from time to time."
Temi nods at Himbopotamus.
Ruby states, "()"
Temi declares, "Thanks!"
Temi has transferred Serket. [OOC]
Temi gives an elegant cookie frosted with a palatial countryside villa to Serket.
Serket says, "Gr8 thanks"
Ruby states, "You get QP for scribing."
Serket sits down.
Temi wonders, "Alright, so, agenda for today as per normal 1) staff updates, 2) player heartbeat and 3) player topics. Anyone have any topics to get on the list to start with?"
Tomato states, "I have a topic"
Temi claims, "Okay, one Tomato."
Himbopotamus queries, "Do topics include really minor requests? Or forum-post that?"
Ruby says, "I have a topic as well, why not."
Temi claims, "We can go over them here too, though forums is also fine"
Deedee says, "Can always do both"
Himbopotamus pontificates, "Alright, will bring it up here if there's time!"
Temi says, "Sure, sounds good"
Temi exclaims, "Alright, anyone else thinks of anything, please let me know and I'll add you onto the list!"
Temi trails off, "Getting started for now though..."
Temi states, "Being the only staffer present, I will go first. Hard to make Ghed go first when he isn't here, alas."
Brando laughs
Motherof states, "Staffers are allowed to have a day off."
Titania trails off, "Wow, Ghed abandoned us..."
RamblingSeert says, "A pox on Ghed (just kidding he's a good boy)"
Dragor says, "Kill Ghed, long live Ghed."
Temi states, "My main priority continues to be the Borderlands plot. Handling the plots and stuff for that. I've got a thing scheduled with some of you for that tomorrow"
Temi says, "Other than that, requests and recommends and non-related plots as I can help keep up with them."
Deedee needs to do an advance on that.
Motherof claims, "Thank you for plotting, Temi."
Temi claims, "I will be traveling for the next couple weeks, so my availability might be a bit spotty, but I still intend to be around, and evenings are still likely to be best, so feel free to leave notes if you don't catch me."
Flower nods.
Temi says, "I do expect to miss OOC chat and such next weekend though."
Brando nods at Temi
Edison says, "Oh noooo"
Edison claims, "UNACCEPTABLE "
RansomWare claims, "*drags Edison away*"
Temi says, "Well, I have to join my Dad on a road trip, so I think that's important."
Temi nods.
Himbopotamus states, "Aw, that sounds awesome. <3"
Motherof wonders, "What time should we show up?"
Brando trails off, "Calm thy breast erhm plate edison ... yes, calm thy breastplate lol"
Temi questions, "Alright, that's it for me for now then. So... all of you! Player heartbeat. How's RP been this week?"
Edison states, "SAD ;-;"
Temi grins at Motherof.
Himbopotamus claims, "Awesome. Playing way more than I meant to because y'all are great."
Temi grins at Himbopotamus.
Temi claims, "That is the risk"
Titania states, "I have been slowly but surely melting into a corncob"
Motherof claims, "Oh man. Usually when bad things happen to my character, it's immediately preceding their death. Sooo... living on is a little weird."
Temi declaims to Edison, "Hopefully good sad!"
Titania claims, "Being the Reeve 1GL is haaaaaaaard"
Temi has transferred Nameless. [OOC]
Temi gives an elegant cookie frosted with a palatial countryside villa to Nameless.
Nameless claims, "Behold my"
Nameless claims, "Oh a cookie"
Temi claims, "We were just chatting player heartbeat"
Brando claims, "At Titania , you have all my empathy and sympathy ok. Goodluck with it."
Tomato trails off, "Heartbeat... lots of fun scenes, some good antagonism in little sprinkles"
Ruby says, "RP has been pretty alright, I just liquidated my first character, may she RIP."
Temi comforts Ruby.
Motherof says, "Awww. RIP."
Dragor states, "I have been having fun."
Deedee says, "Managed to get some scenes in this week, next few days I'— probably be pretty absent though. then free again for a while"
VivaLaVictoria has been having way too much fun.
Tomato states, "And loooots of skill grinding for me when there's no rp which is also fun"
Dragor claims, "I do feel a bit bad for some RP I've done, because I'm usually a very permissive person."
RamblingSeert punches Nameless for the cookie.
RamblingSeert says, "Unrelated to the cookie, I'm having a good time though I've taken it easy a bit the last couple of days. Plot stuff, one-on-one scenes. Organ harvesting, the usual."
Temi declaims to Deedee, "Ah, good luck!"
Dragor declaims, "But I'm trying!!"
Ruby queries, "Organ harvesting...?"
Nameless says, "Excuse me"
Tomato states, "Ah another refined member of the Rim I see"
Dragor states, "Also I poured my heart out on some stringing and I really like the result."
Nameless claims, "I think you mean free range non-consensual organ arbitrage."
RamblingSeert claims, "Don't worry about it."
RamblingSeert states, "Actually Nameless is right."
Temi declares to Dragor, "I love when that comes together well!"
Ikeala takes notes in the corner about the black market on organs.
Ruby states, "I've got stuff to keep me occupied but whenever I type worth I cry a little."
RamblingSeert states, "Also I wrote up something real quick early when someone mentioned credit cards but"
Ruby trails off, "I thought being a merchant made you rich..."
Nameless states, "I find organ harvesting to be a very bigoted and unenlightened term for a successful and vigorous business strategy"
Deedee asks, "Tears of joy?"
Dragor says, "I always feel bad because I know staff can see me stringing LOL"
Motherof queries, "They can?"
Dragor says, "Yeah"
Ruby claims, "Tears of sorrow as my bank account slowly dwindles."
Temi declares to Ruby, "Well, not always to start with!"
Motherof claims, "That must be soooooooo tedious, with all the mistakes I make."
RamblingSeert claims, "Didn't post it in time, here it is"
RamblingSeert wonders, "Attention all The Inquisition: Legacy gamers: the Order is in trouble and they need your help to catch the Ouroboros and purify her magely corruption. To do this they need a couple of expendables and and the blessing of the Lord of the Springs. So to help them, all they need is your credit card number, the three digits on the back, and the expiration month and year. But you've gotta hurry: you don't want to have a review of faith, do you?"
Titania says, "Clearly you just need to sell furniture and Damascus swords"
Temi claims, "We can turn it off if it's bothering us. Just an option of stuff to see to keep an eye on"
Titania cries at how much money she's paid
Himbopotamus states, "Oh, yyyyeah... sorry it took me that many tries to get my starter eq sorted.."
Ruby claims, "It's very sad looking at other people who are also apprentices
who are making money."
Motherof nods at Temi.
Ruby says, "Though maybe that's just because Titania won't commission me D:"
Titania states, "I AM NOT MADE OF MONEY RUBY"
RamblingSeert claims, "I'll commission you"
Titania states, "I'VE SPENT 100 GOLD ON MERCHANTS"
Himbopotamus wonders, "Re: merchants making money, is there some sort of easy
way to know who's an active merchant crafting/selling what?"
Sue says, "It has been good"
Deedee says, "I'm kinda impressed how much I can make selling dirt."
Dragor states, "The beatings will continue until the bank balance improves."
Tomato states, "Guidlist merchant is my go-to"
Temi states to Himbopotamus, "Guildlist merchant should be a good starting
point, as well as postings at their guildhall entrance, I think"
Edison claims, "I g2g, luv u all, Ransom is in charge"
Edison has left the game.
Deedee nods at Temi.
Nameless trails off, "There are also some.... less obvious 'merchants'...."
Himbopotamus muses, "The tricky part is telling who's active and around... will the postings be up to date?"
Ruby trails off, "The Edison/Ransom bromance is real..."
Nameless whispers, "Ask around."
Tomato claims, "Though the apprentices can only take commissions with
permission you can shoot them a letter abt stuff you want"
Ruby says, "The Guildlist is always up to date because there's a cost for
having people who are inactive."
Himbopotamus claims, "Oho."
Nameless claims, "They wont even put those pesky taxes on your purchase"
Temi has transferred plague. [OOC]
Temi gives an elegant cookie frosted with a palatial countryside villa to
plague.
Tomato claims, "I keep telling merchants to make me stuff and ill pay them for it and only rafferty's taken me up on it so far"
Motherof states, "I try be up front about activity levels ICly, when asked, in a straightforward roundabout way."
Dragor says, "IT'S PLAGUE"
Temi has created an elegant cookie frosted with a palatial countryside villa[5].
Ruby claims, "I also will sing and dance in front of you for a commission, Himbo."
Himbopotamus exclaims, "Thanks everyone!"
Dragor pontificates, "Hello Plague! "
Ruby declaims, "Hi plague!"
plague says, "I've arrived. My first week of work... complete."
RamblingSeert trails off, "Plague, my beloved..................."
Motherof pontificates, "Plague is here! Everyone can relax now!"
plague claims, "My bank account... larger."
Deedee claims, "The guild's only charged if someone is inactive for 4 weeks- and at 4 weeks they don't appear on the guildlist anyway"
VivaLaVictoria cheers on plague!
Temi queries, "Alright, anything bothering anyone that staff ought to know about - outside of things that are big enough for their own topics?"
plague does a little dance.
Himbopotamus claims, "Oh, my thing is small enough for this."
Deedee states, "Context"
Titania says, "Hey PLAGUE"
Ruby claims, "Good to know your thing is small."
Temi says, "Sure, feel free to mention it here then"
Himbopotamus claims, "Can the asset market room be a bank? I got hilariously messed up a few times that way."
Deedee says, "Ah."
Himbopotamus says, "Also man deedee you just burned me like I was a witch"
Temi states, "I'll see if there's any reason stopping that"
Deedee says, "That could be handy"
Titania says, "I like that a lot"
Tomato says, "That would be a popular addition I think"
Temi nods.
Brando nods
Deedee says, "There is a bank in the building already though"
Deedee claims, "Council meeting room"
Himbopotamus states, "You gotta cancel the polca if you leave the room"
Brando states, "Ahhhhh "
Temi says, "I'll bring it up to the others. Should be easy if there's not some problem or conflict with it"
plague states, "That sounds like a great QOL addition."
Deedee nods.
Motherof claims, "Also I bet the council loves getting interrupted by people wandering in for banking business."
Temi nods in agreement with Motherof.
Temi says, "I bet they love that."
Nameless states, "Speaking from experience, they do"
Temi queries, "Okay, moving on to full out topics then! Tomato?"
Nameless states, "Its an excellent opportunity to give you some kind of tedious and annoying task"
Diana is idle.
Jackassaurus is idle.
Motherof smirks.
Tomato claims, "I have bumped into several instances now where it seems like people are forgetting our VNPC policy again, so I would like to do a reminder to the game at large--there are guild members available for every guild, even if the PC characters aren't available. There's Reeves in the background doing reeve stuff, physicians are treating sick people, merchants are peddling their wares, troubadours are troubing."
Tomato states, "Specifically this is about priests though I have seen it in
many places for all guilds--per help sins, its TOTALLY fine to go to NPCs for confession for 'minor' sins, and if needed you can still oocly agree upon a VNPC confession per help VNPCs, if you reach out to the guild in question.
It's not really themely to act like there are 0 priests around to take your confession, or that other characters are not regularly going to confession just because we have low priest activity, and I am finding it a bit immersion breaking to be hit with 'theres no x' in roleplay. That sort of attitude also contributes to Order burnout a lot, because being the ""only"" priests meansnthat you get absolutely slammed with requests or responsibility for stuff. VNPC priests do exist and they can be called on for the minor stuff if its not going to be fun RP."
Deedee nods in agreement.
Temi nods at Tomato.
Jackassaurus is no longer idle.
Nameless asks, "Troubadours are troubing? they're causing trouble? only now do i understand the guild name"
Temi claims, "Thanks for the reminder, very true. Keeping things running in the background should always be fine for vnpcs"
Ruby questions, "Can you clarify what you mean by calling upon VNPC priests for the minor stuff?"
Temi claims to Nameless, "They have long been troubladours."
Motherof wonders, "Man, I get iffy feet every time my character needs confession and can't find one, and want to cnote that they did. Is there a helpfile that specifically addresses guidance for that?"
Nameless asks, "Is their trouble serious enough to warrant a thumping?"
Jackassaurus has returned from AFK.
Dragor says, "That is true, but the helpfile also specifically states that 'You should seek out PCs first and foremost' with confession."
RansomWare claims, "Yeah, making sure there's an even dispersement of guilds seems like it's always been a problem. Some guilds swell up to size, and then people see that guild is active and flock to it, in a determent of other guilds"
Tomato states, "Right but we have exactly 0 priests and 1 inquisitor"
Himbopotamus queries, "Dang. Are priests open for application?"
Tomato claims, "I believe so"
Ruby says, "A game about religion without any priests, F."
Nameless says, "I find it sort of grimly amusing"
Serket says, "I had a priest but she died "
Diana is no longer idle.
Diana has returned from AFK.
Deedee claims, "It's been kind of a thing."
Jackassaurus claims, "I thought i would be cool if Troubadour presence
increases RPEXP gains"
RansomWare questions, "How do we incentivize people to play priests? it's a lot of dirty work"
Titania asks, "I think we have two inquisitors?"
plague straightens his collar.
Himbopotamus states, "RPing with them, from my past experience playing them."
Titania claims, "Imperia and Zarif"
Motherof says, "Giving people penances to do is fuuuun."
Deedee claims to Jackassaurus, "It does if they're performing"
Dragor declaims, "RansomWare : They do actually!"
Tomato says, "Imperia is inactive so I'm not counting her currently"
Nameless claims, "Being a -priest- isnt that dirty. its being an inquisitor thats dirty"
Ruby claims, "I can't wait to see Plague be a really good priest."
Titania says, "RIP Imperia,,,"
Himbopotamus says, "People used to avoid priests like crazy."
Tomato claims, "If you don't show up on guildlist you don't exist as far as I'm concerned"
Ruby states, "I need Jae to booze up people before they go into confession."
Temi claims, "If you don't have anything specific to confess and it's just day-to-day things, definitely feel free to just assume you're going."
Himbopotamus says, "But maybe there should be QP or rec-level boosts automatically for priests, or somesuch."
Ruby claims, "You get bonuses for RPing with someone of the Order."
Temi states, "If you've actually done some crime or meaningful sin, it's better to try, but cnote if you have to."
plague claims, "So for what it's worth I think Order burnout is more of a case of people not enjoying being the Fun Police instead of Doing The Fun but I guess folks can talk for themselves as to that"
Nameless says, "And you already have huge other bonuses of being in the order"
Tomato claims, "But yeah I'd say under fornication on the sin list probably ok to confess to an NPC, but anything over that you'd want to seek out a priest or set up an agreement oocly"
Deedee nods at Temi.
Ruby raises an eyebrow at Tomato.
RansomWare encourages all to play ordites, and reward ordites with XP and QP and new sports car
Ruby wonders, "So when is Ransom becoming a Priest?"
Ruby states, "Take that vow of chastity bro."
Tomato states, "Orderites already get I think 1 QP a week and bonuses for rpxp for being order"
RansomWare states, "When ordered to :O"
Titania says, "Look"
Ruby says, "I'll tell Edison to order you to do it."
Dragor states, "Clearly I would make an amazing priest."
Tomato trails off, "But yeah, I just... I've seen it with physicians, with merchants, even with troubadours"
RansomWare says, "Dude he might "
Titania claims, "Orderites are vvv important to the game's theme"
Himbopotamus states, "I was always of the opinion we should let priests marry. *grin*"
Tomato trails off, "I am NOT the only bard in existence, priests are doing priest stuff on the grid..."
Titania claims, "...but I cannot imagine myself playing one,,,"
Brando has lost link.
Brando has reconnected.
Temi claims, "Order has always been a bit hard to keep filled, though we certainly encourage and try to reward them"
Ruby claims, "I'm sure he'll reward you handsomely."
Deedee claims, "Yeah. I can vouch for it being an issue with medical stuff"
Motherof questions, "They used to be able to marry. What the heck happened?"
Nameless says, "I doubt i could ever bring myself to play an orderite"
Dragor claims, "I would actually make a horrible priest, tbh."
Tomato says, "I know we're all doing our best here so its just a friendly reminder, but I have seen it on this character and my alt, over the past several weeks"
Flower claims, "The marry command is fun."
Ikeala wonders, "When was that a thing?"
Dragor states, "I don't have rhetoric or charisma for it."
Ruby states, "Being an Orderite is like the normalize being evil cat meme."
Temi states, "We've definitely discussed Order marriage, which hasn't ever been possible. Kin was very strongly opposed, though."
Motherof queries, "Wasn't Rothgar married?"
RansomWare states, "Remember, you don't -have- to be addicted to torture porn to be an inquisitor, some just talk to suspects >_>"
Nameless states, "Knights can marry"
plague wonders, "So just to make sure Tomato, is the issue more that people need things done and go to the few people who 'Exist', or is it more 'ugh no X exist' IC/OOC and how that might contribute to the problem?"
Temi says, "We've had Order folks retire and marry though."
Deedee says, "Rothgar got married after"
Nameless states, "Priests and inquisitors cant"
Motherof states, "Ahh."
Temi states, "And Knights are not included, yep."
Ruby claims, "You know that's a good point, I do like the torture porn, maybe I should become a priest."
Serket says, "I can say my priest was fun, but she had a thriving social life outside of the order"
Sue claims, "What"
Nameless says, "Hey sue"
Motherof claims, "It also acceptable, by the way, to PLAY a terrible INEPT inquisitor."
Serket states, "I think establishing social connections was most important to a fun priest. Make people actually want to talk to you instead of living in the church waiting for people to hit you up"
Deedee nods.
Dragor claims, "You know I probably smallworled a little bit the passing weeks, sorry for that."
Temi says, "We also encourage people to play terrible priests, yes. We love them."
Himbopotamus says, "So I've not played a priest in many years, but when I did, it was fun because if you did it right, you're the next best thing to a therapist."
Nameless says, "Im going to sell questionable goods to people and not include taxes with the price"
Himbopotamus says, "You get to really engage with other PCs' psychological issues and problems, at LENGTH."
Deedee claims, "Priests can get a lot of juicy RP"
Nameless claims, "Play a priest who has a drinking problem"
Nameless says, "Or a priest who is a bit of a lech"
Titania claims, "My problem with playing Order personally is that I'm squeamish abt playing someone who's overly PvP and Orderites tend to come into conflict with a certain subset of the playerbase"
Tomato trails off, "We... have that and it is not going well"
Titania coughs, and it sounds like the word 'mages' for a second.
Tomato says, "Priests specifically don't interact with mages at all. Thats a knight and inquisitor only thing"
Deedee nods.
Ruby states, "I should play a priest who's like, got long hair and plays the guitar and smokes hemproot."
plague trails off, "To be fair I don't think it's... totally separate"
Nameless claims, "Titania, the good news is that unlike orderite attacking mages, mages can't just PK you for being you. gotta give a reason"
Ruby claims, "THAT kind of priest."
Temi says, "Yeah, it should be possible to play a non-adversarial role as a priest"
Tomato claims, "Inquisitors are being called on lately to do normal priest stuff, because w e do prioritize players over NPCs, but confession , marriage, etc, is mainly just priests and inquisitors prioritize those priests"
Himbopotamus states, "Penances don't have to be physical pain either."
Ruby asks, "What's the Davite vesion of a Hail Mary?"
Nameless says, "That begs the question of what a hail mary is"
Himbopotamus says, "Make people bathe in cold water, or do public service, or preach virtue in taverns."
Deedee claims, "The helpfile for confession now has a thing where priests don't report magery to the inquisitors."
Tomato claims, "There's several books about penance on grid"
Dragor trails off, "Doesn't help the current gl doubleteams the priest and inquisitor leadership..."
Motherof claims, "Send them on scavenger hunts to look at memorials in the foreign quarters."
Deedee nods.
Tomato says, "And priests have NEVER been able to report confessions. Its always been sacrosanct."
Ikeala states, "Repeating the prayer of Dav's Words over and over again, likely."
Tomato claims, "Inquisitors were allowed to per PC establishment but priests never"
Titania queries, "Priests aren't allowed to report magery confessions?"
Temi says, "We've got a number of prayers. Dav's Words or Laws would work."
Tomato claims, "Nope"
Titania claims, "That's incredibly funny to me"
Nameless states, "By church law, priests cannot repeat -anything- told in confessions. to anyone. including magery."
Tomato trails off, "They can assign penance of 'turn yourself in' but you don’t like... have to"
Himbopotamus claims, "Anyway being a priest is super awesome as long as folks don't avoid you, and you can do it for like, 5 hours a week and make a big difference."
Nameless says, "Of course how that plays out ICly is another matter"
Motherof claims, "I had no idea that was a thing. Not reporting mages from confession."
Ruby states, "Priests heavily encourage mages to turn themselves in, and if you don't answer your penance you get in trouble."
Deedee nods.
Ruby states, "So it's kind of like... You tell someone you're a mage, you're supposed to turn yourself in, and if you don't you get arrested for not answering penance."
Tomato says, "Breaking the sacred pact of confession will result in a priest being kicked from the order"
Tomato queries, "No?"
Nameless says, "Yes ruby"
Motherof states, "LOL."
Tomato claims, "You can't be arrested for not doing your penance"
Tomato says, "The 'punishment' is you are still tainted."
Ruby claims, "Though I guess you could try and claim your penance is for something like fornication."
Nameless claims, "Ive seen someone get arrested for not serving penance"
Nameless states, "It was a while ago but ive seen it"
plague says, "Oh Tomato, the helpfile used to say that's exactly how it'd go"
Nameless states, "And admittedly it wasnt for magery"
Deedee says, "Also, there's the issue where inquisitor's duties come first, so if an inquisitor takes a confession where someone confesses magery, they're getting hauled in. I'm not sure what happens if a priest takes such a confession and becomes an inquisitor later though"
plague says, "It'd say 'priests don't say what you did but can say 'turn yourself in' and if you don't the Inquisition may knock on your door' or something"
Ruby says, "I'm not a mage, I swear, I just REALLY like extramarital sex."
Tomato claims, "That sounds a bit fucked since Church matters are not Reeve matters. Though not doing your penance could tip off the INQUISITION that you are a heretic, but that would require breaking the sacred oath of penance"
Himbopotamus trails off, "It seems like there is a LOT of theme confusion over the Order..."
Nameless claims, "Afaik the fact that you have a penance isnt a secret"
Nameless states, "Only the content of your confession is"
Tomato states, "The helpfiles are excruciatingly clear on the matter"
Deedee nods.
Temi claims, "It would be a Knight matter not an Order one, and depends on how leadership wants to approach some of it"
Motherof claims, "I have always, always, always been confused by exactly how
the Order thing works. Yes."
Nameless states, "Which all combines to make a system of catching you out with careful language"
plague claims, "There's a lot of complexities to cover and not everybody feels the exact same way about them @himbo, but the True Answer is most of the time'religion is subjective and characters will interpret it'"
Temi states, "But actually passing on that they are a mage would be unacceptable"
Temi says, "Ahem, not a Reeve one."
Tomato claims, "I don't think you can even say what the penance is, as the priest unless its some sort of public shaming"
Tomato states, "Which by nature is public"
Nameless claims, "Priest says to inquisitor: i hope jim serves his penance soon"
Nameless muses, "Inquisitor says to priest: how longs it been?"
Nameless claims, "Priest says to inquisitor: about 3 months. i dont think he will actually do it"
Nameless claims, "Inquisitor pays a call"
plague says, "Right that's the approximate thing the helpfile used to describe"
Ruby claims, "I should make a Vavardi priest... Next character, next character."
Himbopotamus says, "I would say sharing the penance is indiscreet but not breaking the seal. But refusing to do a penance would realistically be a case of heresy, so it makes perfect sense, really."
Motherof says, "I like it."
Ruby claims, "Someone just has to kill Mikhail, EZ."
Temi wonders, "Any further thoughts on this topic, or should we move on?"
plague claims, "I'm on it."
Himbopotamus exclaims, "I will say, in all the times I played a priest, I can count on one hand how many times I ever had to do anything PVP. Priests are fun! Be priests! Love priests!"
Tomato states, "I think the discussion has reached its end here yeah"
Ruby states, "I like the flavor text of Vavardi priests wearing yellow, that's a neat touch."
Tomato claims, "But yeah, VNPCs, they exist"
plague claims, "Thank you for raising the point Tomato, it's a good reminder"
Deedee nods.
Himbopotamus nods.
Temi nods in agreement with Tomato.
Dragor states, "Thank you Tomato."
Temi queries to Ruby, "Alright, Ruby! You had a topic?"
Ruby claims, "Thank you Lettuce I mean tomato."
Ruby clears her throat.
Motherof claims, "Yeah, you can basically hang an 'open for business' sign on the cellula and only log in for that and get mad RP."
Motherof quiets down.
Ruby claims, "This is just a minor problem I've been having and more of a complaint rather than something that can be fixed, but I've been having a hard time getting things done in the Merchants. Between the lack of active mentors around to learn from (though the ones that are here are trying, Lord bless), the slow pace of communication, and the unfortunate timing of me making a tailor when two other new tailors arrived and one already being well established, it's getting kind of hard for me to, uh, get people to interact with other than me reaching out to them and bleeding my own pockets.
Basically, I don't mind being an apprentice in theory, but at this point I'm basically graduated from it and twiddling my thumbs waiting for something to happen."
Nameless states, "Play a corrupt priest that takes bribes to give very smallnpenanaces or no penance at all"
Sue says, ":O"
RansomWare claims, "As an ordite, corrupt people are always a blessing"
RansomWare states, "Or rather, an ordites lacky "
RansomWare claims, "An easily corruptable one "
Temi nods at Ruby.
Deedee states, "Unless you're suggesting tailors take up confessing, we're on a new topic. "
Nameless queries, "What is thats making you twiddle your thumbs? i dont quite understand"
Serket says, "There are people going for the 2GL position, but yes that is unfortunate problem with semi-inactive GLS"
Nameless claims, "Are people just not around much"
Brando nods at Ruby
plague claims, "Status: is apprentice, cannot do merchant things on their own @nameless"
Ruby claims, "I don't get commissions and I don't have a shop."
Serket claims, "However you can use the role system to purchase a promotion if you codedly meet the skill requirement"
Nameless says, "Ah"
RansomWare states, "There is also the promote command"
Deedee claims, "Yes, there is the role purchase option"
Temi says, "We definitely encourage the guild working to keep people involved, and I've always been of the opinion that having apprentice ranks prevented from doing the fun stuff is not great"
Nameless trails off, "Someone cover sue's ears but.... there's always the black market"
Serket claims, "Also, there's nothing stopping you from just doing stuff anyways"
Titania states, "EGADS"
Temi says, "But we let some of those policies be set by the guildleader"
Serket says, "You can always ask forgiveness instead of permission"
Titania says, "I, THE JUSTICIAR, WILL STOP YOU"
Serket says, "But that is an IC action"
plague queries, "The role system has a 1 month wait for the journeyman thingy, I think. I'm unsure how long Mikhail has been an apprentice but I think it lets you just Do The Thing after that?"
Titania says, "That is an IC action that will get you ejected from the Merchants"
Himbopotamus claims, "Yeah, it seems downright silly to say apprentices can't take commissions in a sitch like this."
RamblingSeert is idle.
RamblingSeert is no longer idle.
RamblingSeert trails off, "Outing myself, the reason I took 2GL has been because of the semi-inactivity of my GL. He's dealing with medical stuff IRL. Good news is he's getting better it seems but there's a number of surgeries involved so..."
Titania says, "They take that shit seriously"
RamblingSeert has returned from AFK.
Ruby says, "It's not even that @Serket, I'm not getting people who are
commissioning me because I don't have the name brand recognition or the small market."
Motherof states, "Yeah.... waiting on that rank was excruciating for me as
well."
Serket claims, "Well theres not exactly leadership around are they"
plague states, "I think all I can offer is solidarity and a pat on the shoulder but that, I do have for you"
Dragor says, "I have the incredible luck of being one of the few active
blacksmiths, so I actually do get commissions. But still-"
Nameless states, "I dont know who your character is, but perhaps i should make an effort to offer enterprising merchants some work that isn't, shall we say, something the public need know about"
Ikeala states, "Asking forgiveness is a very YMMV thing. Some folks will get away with it and some won't and for newer players/characters getting yelled at/in trouble for wanting to participate in the game can be intimidating."
Dragor says, "I totally agree with Ruby."
Serket trails off, "IDK I treated some people as a student physician as an IC action, and dared the GL to do something about it and got promoted so... its gotta be an IC risk/reward thing"
Ruby says, "I am waiting for my promotion after my master has mailed the GM to approve it."
Nameless questions, "Did you promote yourself with roles though?"
Deedee claims, "Just a note, for apprentice Merchants- you can ask a journeyman/master for permission to craft on their behalf in the meanwhile"
Dragor says, "Telling people to break the rules that are specifically written as "If you do this, you get kicked out" is a pretty tall order."
Serket claims, "But I also knowingly did it as an action, because it was IC for me"
Serket claims, "In this instance, given the issue is ooc about the GL being inactive, maybe have your Master and you pboard staff with a petition for a promotion"
RansomWare states, "(most of those times those 'doing this will get you kicked out' usually just means you'll get yelled at) <_<"
Himbopotamus questions, "Is there the possibility of something like a regular merchant faire for the folks who don't have shops?"
Serket states, "Because the REAL issue is that the GL is inactive and there is an IC competition for the 2GL spot"
Nameless says, "Theres the usual yule faire"
Nameless claims, "And spring awakening faire"
Ruby says, "I want to be Journeyman so I can buy a shop and then people would go "oh, they're a person who sells things!" It is mostly a complaint and not really something that CAN be fixed."
Temi states, "It looks like the GL is active at the moment, if not highly so, but we do like to have a secondary GL for just this sort of reason"
Dragor states, "Well, I finnangled a way for me to do stuff but it's still an experience that newer players probably not look forward to at all."
Deedee states, "There's also the tradepost"
Serket claims, "Codedly action =/= available for guild"
Ruby queries, "How many people visit/buy from the Tradepost?"
Nameless claims, "Its not that frequent for myself"
Tomato says, "I swing by and check it occasionally, but if you put out a rumo its been stocked more people will come by"
Temi claims, "I do definitely see stuff bought from it, but more when it's being advertised and talked about"
Brando trails off, "If GL's are inactive for overly long periods of time, then its up to the guild members to GAMBIT them ... imo ok,"
Himbopotamus says, "Maybe a little more often than twice an IC year? Or, geez, just let apprentices have shops and take orders."
Ruby queries, "@Temi Would it be possible for me to get promoted via my master's approval and a pboard?"
Temi states, "Staff are okay if GLs change that policy, absolutely."
RansomWare says, "Things are weird right now because we don't usually have this amount of merchants at one time"
Deedee states, "I'd really like to stress the option of apprentices being able to sell under someone else"
Serket states, "They technically can sell with their teacher's permission"
Dragor claims, "Yeah I would"
Himbopotamus states, "Makes sense, Deedee! I just wonder why there's a need to force the workaround at all, though."
Brando nods at Deedee
Temi states to Ruby, "We are generally hands-off on the guild promotions"
Ruby claims, "There are apprentices getting a TON of work and getting permission to sell, that's not my issue, though that is an issue in general."
Dragor says, "But that's not an option either."
Tomato states, "I would maybe ask your Master for blanket-permission to sell stuff, in that case"
Tomato trails off, "Which... is a thing they can give"
Diana is idle.
RansomWare says, "Also we usually have more mods at these meetings, no shade to Temi, but anything they say will have to be run through the ranks"
Tomato states, "And then just pop up a rumor or advertisement 'so and so sells x'"
Ruby says, "NGL rumors are so abstract to me I have no idea what I can say that won't get removed."
Motherof claims, "I'll tell you what though: the instant you get that promo and hooked up with your shop, this problem is in the rear-view mirror. Again... excruciating; the wait. Oof."
Jackassaurus is idle.
Jackassaurus is no longer idle.
Jackassaurus has returned from AFK.
Dragor says, "Protip for merchant apprentices to get attention :"
Tomato says, "Rumors are just... rumors, but if you promote them you need to reiterate what is said so that it stands alone on its own."
Ruby claims, "Every time somebody walks past me and goes to someone else for a commission a single tear goes down my cheek."
Dragor declares, "Make gifts!"
Diana is no longer idle.
Diana has returned from AFK.
Himbopotamus states, "Yeah... so maybe the Tradepost is the best way forward."
Dragor states, "People love gifts."
Dragor claims, "And they show your stringing skills off."
Sue says, "Wawawa"
Ikeala states, "Tradepost still requires someone to stock it. "
RansomWare says, "@ruby Yeah, it's weird, I know of responses to rumors that have been torpedoed and others that have be okay'd because they're story relevant, it's weird"
Ruby claims, "Dragor that's why I'm losing money LMAO."
Temi says, "I believe the Merchants do have someone in a non-GL role still doing that stocking"
Dragor states, "I mean."
Temi claims, "But I'll ping the note asking about 2nd GL, and request they select someone or we put it up for apps"
Dragor states, "Make it cheap and remember you get a free asset"
Himbopotamus says, "Ruby, btw, I will totally commission you, I just have no idea who you are."
Edison wanders into the vicinity. [login]
Edison claims, "I'm back"
Ruby says, "It's funny you say that because we were just in a scene together "
Brando says, "Welcome back"
Himbopotamus claims, "Aha! Now I do."
Motherof claims, "And yes. You should DEFINITELY bug your 'Master' with these concerns. So they can help."
Himbopotamus claims, "I did not think you could take orders in character."
Ruby claims, "I pelt my master with rocks until they give me their shop."
Himbopotamus claims, "So there's definitely space for a bit more self-promotion. *grin*"
plague states, "My first Merchant got a shop really quickly."
plague states, "Then he died."
plague claims, "Oops"
Ruby trails off, "Yea, I will also say it's hard not just because of all of the hurdles regarding apprenticeship, but also..."
Ruby claims, "... My IC is to be REALLY shitty at talking to people."
Motherof says, "Rofl."
Himbopotamus states, "Aaaah. Yeah. That's... that's a barrier."
Ruby claims, "So I am kind of putting a stick in the bike I'm riding."
Deedee states, "Don't expect to make bank just by having a shop, though"
Titania claims, "Clearly you need to hire someone to talk for you"
Temi wonders, "Any more ideas or on thoughts on this topic for Ruby?"
Edison finishes abruptly, "I don't know how relevant this is - but when I started the guild was just me and Lans - sometimes things take time, but eventually they do get better, I assure you"
plague says, "You're playing a socially-lacking apprentice in a saturated market with some established Home Brands and that's rough, I hope it improves"
Ikeala claims, "I have one thing to ponder related to it."
Temi states, "Or that's our last topic, unless anyone would like to propose an additional one."
Temi nods at Ikeala.
Himbopotamus claims, "Ruby, you might not have been here earlier when I asked about this actually - I wanted a list of active commissionable merchants and folks said to check the posts at the guildhall. So if you're not up there, that could help."
Himbopotamus declares, "That's my last thought!"
Ruby trails off, "I just want to skulk in an alleyway and open up my cloak with a bunch of watches to sell, is that so much to ask..."
Ruby states, "@Himbo I'm not, but that's because it's up to the GL to update that."
Temi grins at Ruby.
Himbopotamus wonders, "Oof, really? Maybe they can get a board people can post themselves on, Temi?"
Ruby muses, "I guess it'd be a cloak full of hourglasses..."
Nameless states, "Ill buy a watch ruby"
Deedee wonders, "What's that, Ike?"
Nameless claims, "Come on over to the dark alleyway"
Ruby says, "I'll sell you an illegal watch Nameless."
Temi queries, "I think it's just a regular board?"
Nameless claims, "Sounds good to me"
Ikeala says, "I know it was discussed in a previous meeting and didn't seem well received but this was a time ago. While I know we have the 'application' board for things that require an application for staff, I still do wonder if having a list/board in chargen of needed roles that people could create might not help some of this like ... feast or famine on certain things."
Nameless states, "Ill even make sue go away when she gets mad"
Tomato has been transferred out by Temi. [OOC]
Motherof says, "I'd put a standing 'long lost cousin' vacancy on there, myself."
Himbopotamus says, "I love that idea, Ikeala."
plague says, "I think that'd be a neat thing. I dunno how easy it would be for staff to keep it updated but I like it"
Himbopotamus questions, "Census command could be expanded?"
Deedee asks, "Oh yeah. I think the idea was a board that synced with a place on grid, where people could also post about connections they'd like, like someone to play their son or something like that?"
Ruby muses, "Maybe a small bonus to your character in cgen as well for playing a role that's lacking?"
Temi says, "I think we have been okay with people posting on the general board if they have specific needs."
Edison wonders, "I'm wondering if we could have like... 'if you apply to something that is greatly in need we'll give you a small XP bonus' thing going on?"
Motherof says, "Yeah, but Chargen is where the newbies roll out."
Himbopotamus claims, "SOmething centralized where newbies could see every desired concept would be awesome."
Edison states, "So like, oh, you're rolling up an inquisitor, here's an extra 30k xp, you may get murdered"
Deedee claims, "Yeah, general board tends to get overlooked in chargen though,at least for new players"
Motherof claims, "I love it."
Temi nods at Deedee.
Ikeala claims, "I do wonder about that as well. If more incentives for needed roles might encourage them. "
Ikeala trails off, "No guarantee but ... "
Ruby states, "Maybe have it be for the opening role of a guild, like an Acolyte for a Priest? Like have that be obvious on chargen."
Edison states, "'oh, you're rolling up a mage, here's an extra 20k, you'll get burned to death eventually, but it's okay.'"
Nameless notes how edison wnats 30k for priests and only 20k for mages...
Nameless claims, "Going in my book of edison's sins for later"
plague says, "Many mages, few inquisitors"
plague claims, "Presumably"
Deedee states, "That's 50k for mage priests, not bad."
Serket has lost link.
Temi claims, "I don't think we're short on mages at the moment, though. Just ones that cause drama."
Temi grins.
Brando nods at Edison and states "maybe a 1 to 5 reclevel percentage increase would be more appropriate than minor XP bonus ?"
Temi says, "I think they closed last week, though we'll see if they reopen again this week, as I think things have changed a bit"
RansomWare states, "I think we should offer 'class' packages, like, oh you want a quick build, here's one statted up for 'knight' or 'priest' or 'thief' or'black smith' or w/e, they have the stats and skills already assigned and you can basically jump in"
plague wonders, "God can I get 200k exp and become an archmage Knight? Thanks"
Deedee muses, "We have something like that already, don't we?"
Nameless says, "Unfrotunately you cant be a mage and in the order"
Nameless states, "Anymore"
Ruby muses, "What role gets me 500k exp?"
Nameless says, "The funny part was that before they put that in, it was very very common for orderites to be mages"
Ikeala says, "I will admit that reactions to that drama sometimes discourages it."
Deedee says, "Staffer"
Titania states to Ruby, "The King."
Temi nods at Ikeala.
Deedee nods.
Temi claims, "It's hard to balance."
Himbopotamus asks, "Which drama?"
Titania claims to Nameless, "Well, yeah, it's the most obvious solution if you're a mage-- hide among your hunters"
Temi claims to Himbopotamus, "Magey drama."
Himbopotamus says, "Oh! I gotcha."
Nameless claims, "When you're a mage and you make something happen everyone flips their shit or tries to level policy at you"
Ruby claims, "Two sides in obvious conflict will always lead to bad feelies."
Himbopotamus nods.
Nameless states, "Leaving aside the general fact that its difficult to make
things happen because of the order's overabundance of advantage"
RansomWare claims, "Mage Ash should be assigned to a moon and it's powers wax and wane accordingly"
RamblingSeert claims, "You mean to tell me in this game that relies on intrigue and cloak+dagger it's less that mages are oppressed and more that they're a shadow organization that is sometimes in charge? Say it ain't so."
Nameless states, "Sometimes shit flippage can be good if its IC but no one is out to cause anyone ooc anxiety or tension"
Himbopotamus claims, "More tools for non-violent trouble could be a discussion to have."
Temi nods in agreement with Nameless.
Ruby claims, "It's also very hard to do uhh, interesting RP when both sides are encouraged to basically ignore what the other says and kill them."
Deedee claims, "More of the issue tends to be OOC upset I think"
Ruby says, "I just say that from previous RP experiences, though."
Motherof states, "If there were a way to paint a 'pick me for shenanigans' sign on my back, I would wear it."
plague claims, "I've always enjoyed the gray and I'll never be able to play the game black-and-white"
Nameless says, "I suddenly like ransomware a lot more"
Nameless states, "Yes please nerf mage ash"
Titania states, "I play it black and white, LAW GOOD"
RansomWare states, "It is a little weird when I meet a mage and they're like 'aahaaa, I've seen the signs and you shall die the next time a crow calls' and I tell someone and they're like 'lol, yeah that happens all the time'"
plague says, "I live in the shadows of the hearts of men."
Brando states, "So? do more magey stuff in the southside ... where the orders eyes and hands are sorta tied . or become a nature druid and hunt down and confront hunters/gatherers etc. "
Temi claims, "Whois is a good place to put if you love to be targeted"
Brando nods at Temi
Nameless states, "Yeah unfortunately brando when we do mage stuff southside,
the order just burns the southsiders"
Himbopotamus states, "TARGET ME, I LIKE TO CRY"
Temi states, "But we decided against an official flag for it, because it would likely result in a defacto result with even more blow-up if you targeted anyone else"
Titania states, "Yeah, that, uh-- that happened a lot recently"
Dragor says, "Uhhhhh"
Titania states, "I point at Yasmina, I point at Rumea"
Dragor says, "Looks at the southsiders being hunted down like dogs."
Titania claims, "One mage got seen giving magebane food and two people died,,,"
Himbopotamus claims, "More seriously - more ways to target people from a distance in non-violent ways mean mage ash doesn't get you killed."
Motherof states, "But I don't the do-gooders to know I'm a masochist."
Temi states, "Let's keep things to the general, though"
Deedee nods at Temi.
Temi questions, "And we're officially out of time, unless anyone has any last things to throw immediately in?"
Deedee says, "I could bring up plenty of examples, but better not to bring IC into OOC chat"
Ruby asks, "When is pizza being added to TI?"
Dragor exclaims, "Buy from Ruby!"
Nameless says, "I want pizza"
Titania says, "When you string it, Ruby"
Titania trails off, "Vavardi flatbread..."
Ruby says, "I don't have cooking."
Ruby says, "You do."
Dragor states, "DO NOT STRING PIZZA"
Ikeala says, "I guess if you are begging to be picked on, send an Anonymous board. I'm sure it can be arranged."
Titania states, "No I don't I'm a NOBLE"
Ruby trails off, "Rat pizza..."
Deedee states, "I would like to see more authentic period food personally"
Temi says, "Probably best to avoid pizzas"
Titania says, "I don't MAKE MY OWN FOOD"
Motherof says, "Byyye. I love you all, even though you rumor really mean."
Nameless says, "I dont promise to pick on you"
Edison asks, "*hits up Ikeala* so, ya wanna be hunted down, eh?"
Nameless says, "But i do promise to give you vague prophecies"
Nameless states, "And ominous warnings"
Ruby says, "I will make rat pizza."
Temi declaims, "Okay, will send folks back now. Thanks for coming!"
