I'm curious to know what folks are interested in seeing more of from the Order. Right now we're severely understaffed and it's difficult to do much in the way of game-wide events, although I've a couple in the works.

I recognize that many Order events are very one-sided - i.e. masses or burnings - and am looking for more interactive options.

What would you like to see from the Order?

- masses (but more interactive - either lay PCs taking on roles or short and sweet masses with a longer discussion/question time for the clergy and nobles at the end)

- more revival-type River Square meetings, rather than just the PC burnings (burning things that make you sin, large scale confessions, retellings of saint tales, retelling of tragedies mages have caused, etc.)

- more frequent River Square punishments and burnings, by including NPCs, so the events are more regular.

- priests assigned to various public institutions (alm's house, orphanage, palace, south side plaza, etc.)

- priests should be slumming it in taverns to make sure people are moral

- there should be more religious festivals or other events that don't require big speeches.

- classes on religion

- tracked tithing or a tracker system where you can indicate if you have been attending NPC masses and confessions

Or the heck with all of that, priests should stay in the cathedral doing masses and confessions?

Edit: If I add a mob to the cathedral to sell items, like candles or prayer books, what kind of items would you be interested in seeing?

I find these ideas inspiring and want to say thank you for sharing and making the Order a far more interesting body.

Maybe final rights before death and ritual blessings on people's goals/endevours? "I wish to become a shop mistress," confesses a young woman, and the church offers the Lord's blessing to the goal? Or perhaps even blesses the shop? Maybe blesses weapons and names them for Knights and other warriors about to face death? Stuff like that?

Overall I like the idea of a strong church (which it is supposed to be in Lithmore) being involved in more mundane affairs - like blessing things, events and locations, maybe even regularly, since the blessing wears off with item use or time.

In principle one could support this with code (if it isn't already). A blessed shop might give slightly better income to PCs (due to VNPCs preferring to go there). Same with a blessed PC-controlled pub/bar (which obviously need to fulfill some criteria of piety to be blessed this way). A blessed weapon could give some sort of bonus (due to the wielder feeling more confident) and so on. A blessed event (depending on the type) could yield slightly more income to the organizers if it was blessed by a priest beforehand (that one might have to be staff managed I guess). If the blessing wears off and costs money it could be a nice money-sink too.

Blessings smack uncomfortably close to magic if they have actual coded effects... *big eyes*

That'd be a lovely, ironic touch to it actually. ;)

There's already a fair bit Church magic. Rhyming kills rats, for instance. I'd be all for coded blessings. But I'm happy to do non-coded ones, too.

It'd be even nicer if blessed establishments gave higher prices to heretics that purchased there. :D (It could then be done by other religions for their own establishments, too).

I think that coded blessings would be pretty cool. even though it is close to magic, we can think of it as 'anti-magic' a sort of acceptable version restricted to the Church. It would, of course, have to be a bit regulated, but I think it would be fun and an interesting way for the Order to assert its power other than fear. (Incentives for the faithful means people have a reason to believe and attend mass other than avoiding burning at the stake).

I think we should have a mob selling stuff too: books, candles, holy medals and the like.

I also think we should pursue the tracker system. It would be a great way to keep up on such things.
