Following their outrage at the council vote held without them, Roland and his
supporters quietly fell back to Casterlay.  As several noblemen part ways, it
almost seems as though they will allow the decision to stand and reluctantly
accept Amir as their new king.  This proves to be wishful thinking, however,
as men are reported moving, gathering in the north, and, at the height of
summer, a sudden influx invades Beresfield.  In quick succession, two pigeons
arrive from the Count of Beresfield.  The first begs assistance and reports
the invasion of forces from Casterlay, Lothos and Amhurst.  The second, only
a day later, renounces Amir as king and declares for Roland.  The subtext is
clear: a civil war has begun and Beresfield has fallen.

TLDR: Roland and his supporters declare war against Amir's reign by capturing
Beresfield.

summer and with the civil war in it's opening stages, Lord Seneschal Norrig
op Arcenant has brought forth cheap grain from his barony of Asglen to
distribute it to the poor and the destitute of Southside.  More of a
temporary measure than a true solution, the hungry, unwashed masses can at
least know that, tonight, they will be less hungry.

The troops encamped around the capital have, for the most part, been
mobilized, called into action by King Amir ab Harmons.  Though more troops
remain in place than are normally located in Lithmore, positioned to help
protect the capital, the majority of them march northwards, commanded by the
king himself.  Their destination and plans are unknown, but with
apparently-captured Beresfield and several lands involved in that assault all
located in that direction, the rumors suggest numerous options.

TLDR: Amir mobilizes the Lithmorran troops, heading north.

The state of the Law in Lithmore City has been flagging over the past several
months.  With the raised banners and looming conflicts the resources of the
Reeves have again been stretched thin.  Rather than going immediately to a
centralized drive for recruitment and training like her predecessors, the
current Lady Justiciar passes down an edict empowering Reeves to appoint
watchmen in every neighborhood where the institution is active.  Many have
begun seeking volunteers, and the Reeves have reached out to other city
leaders and notable persons to provide stipends, supplies, manpower, and
training for the new civil institution.

Toward the end of Augustus, five caravans heavily laden with something or
other can be seen lumbering out of the gates of Lithmore City, heading in the
general direction of the duchy of Farin in the escort of an armed guard
consisting of men and women wearing the golden coin of the Merchants' Guild
as well as the three azure Capuan roses of the dul Alberti gentry family.
Though there is much speculation in regards to their cargo, the guards seem
to be keeping fairly tight-lipped about what exactly it is they're carrying
even as they depart from the city.

TL; DR: The Merchants' Guild seems to be sending some manner of aid to
Farin.

Save It was a drizzling, chilly Septembris morning that brought the Faithful
of Lithmore to River Square.  At the behest of Grand Inquisitor Sibylle dul
Fontaine, those so gathered bore witness to the cleansing of Vittore Veril, a
man for whom the Grand Inquisitor had little good to say.  Her words were
short, condeming him as a mage that brokered with demonkind, whose defiance
of the Lord continued even unto his cleansing.  She lamented that his soul
would forever wander without refuge in the Lord, but that he would at least
escape the Abyss.

Many in the city have supported the burgeoning institution of the night
watch, bards spread the word, priests mention service to one's home and
people ever more often in mass, supplies are sent from the hospital and from
civic minded merchants.  In the city, men trained and empowered by the
Reeves, wearing thick cloaks against the elements and carrying long poles
tipped with lanterns walk vigilantly through the small hours driving away
darkness, anxieties, and hooded figures and ensuring that doors remain
tightly locked.  The Reeves have seemed to benefit from the arrangement
themselves, shuffling talented individuals into regular guard roles or urging
them towards juridical education.

Reports place King Amir ab Harmons and his troops encamped around Casterlay
Keep, maintaining a siege upon the fortress.  The Count of Casterlay is not
believed to be in residence, having assisted a number of other lords in an
assault on Beresfield on Roland ab Beaufort's behalf.  However, enough men
apparently man the keep to hold it against the king's forces thus far.  The
encamped men are reportedly spending their time carousing and keeping an eye
on the keep, while they help themselves to Casterlay's nearby crops, waiting
to starve them out.

TLDR: Amir's troops lay siege to Casterlay Keep, waiting out their stores.

The trumpets sound, and criers head out into the city to announce the
beginning of a Grand Tournament, sponsored by the Order and supported by the
city guilds and council.  Streamers are strung up, and excitement lingers in
the air of what will no doubt be quite a spectacle in the weeks to come what
with the flood of royal troops in and around the city.  All are invited to
attend and participate regardless of station or ability, several events will
be held the criers announce.  A melee, joust, target shooting and a possible
scavenger hunt for the little ones and less combat able!  Along with a
display of expert swordsmanship displayed by a Knight duel between
blademasters!

the Columbina Cafe hosted a Magebane party for all the people to attend.  The
event, sponsored by the Town Hall, invited people to wear the traditional
masks, blurring the relevancy of skin color and thus bringing people from
other races closer, if only for a moment, if only for the warmth.

It was high noon on a cold Novembris day that Grand Inquisitor led Sela out
before the crowds and the burning post.  There she preached on the corrupting
nature of the Taint and the woman's crimes, murders and preying on the Order
members.  While it was said that Sela did not accept the Lord before she
went, there was something to be said about there being some relief in the
air.  The witch ended her life with a call out to the Tainted in the crowds -
that their time too would come.  Whether that was a threat or fatalism,
though, none might say.

Another cold afternoon rolls in, and the Faithful find themselves called by
the church bells to witness the pyring of Everett Benson by Grand Inquisitor
Sibylle dul Fontaine.  She spoke on the tragedy of the man's situation, used
as a pawn and slave by two wicked mages taking advantage of the Tainted
nature of his soul.  She lauded the strength of the man's heart, not just in
cracking open the murdering coven to which he belonged, but in bringing
closure on the loss of some of Lithmore's leadership.  The Grand Inquisitor
noted the man went to the Pyre in open avowal of his desire for the
Springs.

On an early Balasdes day, the Inquisitor known as Baylin dul Gardia stepped
out into Church Square mere hours after arriving to the city carrying the
fresh title of His Holy Honor, the Grand Inquisitor - newly appointed by the
High Synod.  After briefly meeting and accepting rare confessions from some
unsuspecting and lucky onlookers, he retreated to get settled into the new
role.

The Yule Faire in the Merchant Trade Hall's Crystal Chamber was a resounding
success, with plenty of silver and goods being exchanged, in addition to song
and gossip.  It's effect was felt far and wide, replicated by the initiative
of the Town Hall to make the best out of it, and relying on the collaboration
of merchants, priests, troubadours and even reeves.  At the end of Yule,
everyone felt a little closer, tied together by bonds of community.

King Amir's troops in Casterlay continue to lay siege to Casterlay Keep,
while reports have a large number of Roland's forces pulling back into
Amhurst.  No attempts have been made to repel the siege yet, and popular
opinion has the stores within Casterlay running low.  As winter kicks into
full gear, however, Amir's troops find their ready supply of rations
harvested from Casterlay lands dwindling.  Amir has sent out a call to his
noblemen and supporters to send reinforcing supplies to support the troops
encamped there.

TLDR: Amir's troops maintain the siege on Casterlay Keep, unrepelled, but
call for loyal supporters to send supplies.

Early in the new year of 384, a fresh noble face has arrived from Farin. 
Nadir de Fareen, a Baron from Rojus, made his way into Lithmore with a small
party of aides and guards.  Amongst broiling civil conflict, it's assumed
he's come to strengthen his ties among other noble families and support the
Royal efforts in Lithmore with the Council.  Curiously enough, his first stop
was the courier's office, where he was heard berating the postal workers
about their infrastructure and mail efficiency.

Since the warrant for the Prime Medicus and the pyring of the Epion, Madison
hospital and the Royal Physicians guild had its leadership decimated and the
realm has no guidance for keeping tabs on disease outbreaks or other medical
issues.  While the guild still searches for suitable replacements for the
Prime Medicus and Epion that are of appropriate breeding, Doctors have been
working diligently throughout the realm to maintain the projects they were
already doing to better the health of the realm.

One of these doctors, Doctor Safir Mara'aye, has temporarily taken over the
leadership of the guild and hospitals in an interim role and is working
closely with Doctor Rain Reed of the Southside Almshouse in managing the
hospital affairs.  Anyone needing an official guild response or is seeking to
join the guild should contact Doctor Safir Mara'aye directly.  Applications
are being reviewed for those seeking to become Prime Medicus and Epion (OOC:
See Applications Open post on Announcements board).

City funds are being levied into work opportunities for the city's laborers
by the Chancellor of the Exchequer.  Winter damages to roads, bridges, and
canals leading to the city are being cleared, repaired, and improved.  Talk

further works being directed out of the council when this first step is
done.

A carriage horse trotted through Lithmore's East Gate one cold Januarius
morning, dragging its traces.  A few hours later, a scowling personal guard
claimed it from good-hearted bystanders and returned to the Traveller's Inne
nearby, where it is said the scattered entourage of a Farin noblewoman is
regrouping after their modest caravan was besieged by bandits.

So marks the debut of Persela's leader to the capital, the Lady likely to
make formal introductions to Court once her belongings can be recovered or
replaced.

Doctor Rain Reed and Safir Mara'aye have led an internal examination of staff
and appointed Thivwren Laeigh to the position of Epion.  Laeigh has served
with the Physicians Guild for a number of months in Lithmore City and had
recently been promoted to Nursia.  The more senior doctors will be providing
guidance to him in his new role and working with him closely to finish his
medical education.

Citizens speak of a grand ship pulling up into the harbor in the Tubori
quarter, sails and flags displaying the green and silver colors of the noble
family of Norsley.  After docking, a tall, sun-bronzed woman steps off,
flanked by a chevalier in her house colors.  The woman moves with grace
despite just departing the deck of a moving vessel, seeming just as
comfortable on land as on sea.  There's a quiet murmur aside to her companion
before she continues farther into the city, attentive to the sights.

With the nearby roads and bridges under suitable repair, Lithmore is in
better position to take full advantage of the coming thaw.  The Grand Magnate
Francesca dul Alberti and Baron of Rojus Nadir de Fareen spread word among
visiting nobility, notable traders, and affluent estate-holders, asking that
they send for a little extra this Spring.  The hope is that a strong start to
the import season will bolster the coming festivities surrounding the Spring
Market, and further fortify the capital's economy for what news may come
about the siege.

It was a cheery spring morning when the Cardinal of Lithmore, Emmierich ab
Braye, announced the new Grand Inquisitor, chosen by the Patriarch in consult
with the High Synod to replace the vacant Baylin dul Gardia.  A compromise
candidate from the north, a young High Inquisitor by the name of Marton von

Shocked gasps ring out from early-morning worshippers, Acolytes, and Priests
alike as they enter the Cathedral in early Aprilis for morning prayer,
contemaplation, and confession.  Almost too shocked to believe their eyes at
the sudden transformation of the Holy Fountis.  

The Fountis Majoris' holy water, from the purest of rainwater which flows
from the Eternal Springs itself, had somehow, someway, been changed overnight
to deep, ruby-hued wine.  Spilling over the rim of the sapphire-encrusted
Chalice, the wine spills out over it not in a symbol of the pure Eternal
Springs, but like some sort of Ever-Flowing Cup, never empty of its crimson
contents.  Bright against the alabaster of the Fountis, this defilement of a
holy thing sends a message--but of what?

As spring broke in Casterlay in 384, King Amir's troops remained encamped
about Casterlay Keep, holding the siege that had lasted through the long
winter.  Resupplied by shipments from across the kingdom, coordinated from
the capitol, the troops were well-fed and cared for but feeling a bit
stir-crazy and eager for action.  Pigeons from Casterlay have only just
informed the capital that finally Aprilis 10th brought that long awaited
change: a white banner was flown from the gate and Amir received a number of
hungry and ragged soldiers from within the keep, the troops manning the
besieged keep offering their surrender.  Among their number was Lord Braith
ab Lassider, the Count of Casterlay's seventeen year old heir, and his
mother, the titled countess.  Count Gilbert, her husband and generally
considered the leader in the county, was not present.  The countess was taken
into custody and Braith was executed.  All of the remaining occupants were
given the chance for a pardon if they would swear fealty to the King.

After the keep was secured, Amir and the majority of his troops broke camp. 
They are heading north to Beresfield, where Roland has been gathering his own
troops, accompanied by Gilbert of Casterlay and troops from Amhurst
reportedly set to rendezvous there with them after trouble over the winter. 
Rumor has Roland digging in, preparing to face the king's oncoming troops. 
All seem to expect a battle confrontation in the coming weeks.

TLDR: Casterlay Keep surrenders to Amir's siege, resulting in the Casterlay
heir's execution and capture of the countess.  Amir has continued north to
Beresfield, where a battle with Roland is expected.

Market, has created a healthy demand for imports and commerce.  Traders
arrive by the dozens, and the markets are bustling as traders both foreign
and local get an early start to what looks like a profitable Spring. 
Organizers from the Council and Merchants alike come together to help
facilitate and process the increased imports, ensuring a sound logistical
foundation for a better economy.

Amajad, sponsoring this newest push in the ongoing battle against urban
decay, is not only seeking help from day laborers but gardeners as well.  It
seems the Farin noblewoman means to apply some erosion control to the
cobblestone streets by adding grass and flower seeds to hold onto more of the
dirt through the changing seasons.  Citizens of all backgrounds are
encouraged to lend their support to Lady de Amajad, and to consider
scattering a few seeds for a special someone.

Early in Maius 384, Amir and Roland finally came together, the long-awaited
battle finally erupting.  King Amir's northerly march seemed at first to
catch Roland unprepared, trying to reposition his armies at the last moment,
so when the two forces collided and battle erupted, the king held the
superior position, surrounding the rebel forces.  However, a failure to
account for Amhurst's incoming troops, hurrying to meet up with Roland, and
Amir found himself flanked.  Taking heavy losses, including the Baron of
Hamstone, a stalwart supporter and commander of Amir's cause cut down from
his horse by the oncoming cavalry, Amir pulled back to regroup, moving to the
defensive.

Advancing again, the royal troops found progress harder won, making gains but
paying for every one of them in fallen soldiers and exhausting time.  Beyond
that grueling progress, the meaningful victories were few and far between,
but not nonexistent.  Seeing her chance, Dame Ianthe Meadows led the small
charge that overtook and captured Count Anschel ab Loguire, one of the prime
defender's of Roland's claim, bringing him back into royal custody.  And
plenty of setbacks faced the men, bodies piling up on both sides.

In the end, a final push broke through the lines of Roland's troops, and many
of those remaining surrendered, most notably the Count of Beresfield,
fighting on Roland's side since his county was overtaken by the first rebel
attacks.  The man protests that he was forced into his support of the rebel
on threat of the safety of his family.  

Roland, however, managed to escape, retreating with his remaining troops,
mostly mounted.  Amir's scouts followed them for several days until they had
disappeared into Vandago, riding hard.  When they returned, Amir ordered a
number of his forces onward to secure Amhurst, and announced his own plans to
return to the capital, though no one knows for how long.  

TLDR: Amir prevails in big Beresfield battle, capturing the Counts of Amhurst
and Beresfield, but losing the Baron of Hamstone, and Roland escapes to
Vandago.

With the heat of summer creeping into the capital, rumors of the long awaited

dul Alberti reach a fever pitch as it seems the gentry couple has finally set
a date for the festivities.

Sandwiched between the equally anticipated tournament events being hosted by
the Order, the wedding in question is rumored to be taking place at the Saint
Aelwyn's Cathedral with an after party to follow at The Upstairs Lounge of
the Argent Swan located off of Linden Street in the northern part of the
city.

Rumor has it that while proper invitations have been sent out to the
well-to-dos and friends of the bride and groom, the general populace is
welcome to attend both the ceremony and reception after.

his Lord Seneschal's petition, the King has decided to grant Sibylle dul
Fontaine the Barony of Volsuan, left vacant since the execution of the
previous baron a few years previous.  He was said to mention a hope that some
decorum and consistent service would serve the domain well.

Retaking her place as a mere Master Craftsman among the Lithmorran merchants,
the young seamstress has left many wondering who will rise up to take the
reins of the guild and oversee the kingdom's economy in her absence.

together those differences as beautiful strengthens.

As part of this particular effort, a large promotion and logistics campaign
is set to begin.  This is a massive undertaking which will require
significant aid from other city notables.

whom handled the day to day business of the Guild, and these functionaries
turned to him for advice after the previous Grand Magnate stepped down. What
began as casual consultation amongst friends quickly spiraled out of control,
culminating with Conrad taking the position of Grand Magnate. Another rumor
holds that Conrad was unopposed for the position, as no other who was capable or
willing made themselves known...

The Cardinal of Lithmore, Emmierich ab Braye, recently convened the High
Synod to discuss many Order matters.  Amongst the results of this meeting,
the Synod formed a new role, Itinerant Inquisitor.  Itinerant Inquisitors are
agents of the High Synod entrusted to travel across the kingdom and assist
the Holy Office of the Inquisition with matters such as training, quality of
Review, and prisoner handling.  Layman speculation suggests this role may
also be responsible for reporting on the quality of Inquisitorial work
throughout the Kingdom and beyond.  

The first and only Itinerant Inquisitor to be named thus far is Jenifyr von
Vakhrova, a long acting Bishop of Vandago City.

Following Roland ab Beaufort's defeat in the battle of Beresfield, the
upstart would-be king escaped into Vandago.  Since that time, King Amir ab
Harmons has been exploring interducal politics with an eye to ending Roland's
threat without ruining relations with Vandago.  With little success thus far,
it seems.  That lack of success was underscored on Quintilis 28th when Amir
threw Vandago's representative out of the palace - quite literally.  Picking
himself up off of the road, that representative has collected his entourage
and set off on his return to Vandago.  Many of those at the palace familiar
with politics are reportedly holding their breaths to see what the political
fallout will be.

TLDR: Tense relations increase after Amir throws the Vandagan representative
out during talks to negotiate Roland's capture.

allows the people of the Holy City to see the good in other duchies, their
customs, the richness of their lives.  Soon, bygones are bygones and the
grudging hostility between the quarters relaxes.

beast that the Circus brought with them, buying them all up, it would
logically follow that he also arranged for the birds to be taken out of the
city.  Where they are headed is uncertain, although several rumors
surrounding the wagon seem to be circulating the cities taverns...

It seems that recent changes in the Merchants' Guild leadership haven't

Market.  The Market has been a long standing custom of the Guild, typically
held just before the actual Yule Holiday, and is widely known as a good time
to shop for gifts for family and friends.  The flyers indicate that the Yule
Market is scheduled to take place on Decimbris 5th, at the Merchant's Trade
Hall Gallery.

announced a join effort to facilitate greater trade throughout the kingdom. 
Riding on the goodwill generated by the Circus to make better inroads amongst
the duchies, talk spreads through the kingdom as caravans and wagons increase
in traffic across the borders.  Reeves stand ready, protecting the wagons
against brigands, and reports out of the Town Hall seem to indicate dedicated
teams under the Seneschal assisting with the red tape.  Optimism seems high
that these endeavors will free up trade between the near and far parts of the
kingdom, bolstering the economy overall.

An Ambitious Influence Event

In the twilight of the Seneschal campaign, individuals and leadership from
the Troubadours and Council itself step out in an overt show of support for
Sibylle dul Fontaine as next Chancellor.  Citing her service as Chancellor of
the Exchequer and Grand Inquisitor as periods where she has demonstrated
consistent hard work and quality results over many years, the impression
appears to be one celebratory of the Chancellor's being selected as the next
Seneschal.

What the Council workers claim, the Troubadours seem happy to carry out as
directed by Poet Knight Theodora op Arcenant.  This leaves few in the city
not hearing of this ambitious display of influence.

About a month after the Prime Medicus Delana de Verdugo's arrival in
Lithmore, rumors began circulating that she has banned all alcohol from the
Madison, and that several physicians have resigned over the matter.  Indeed,
in the time since, an increasing number of patients have noticed that they
are not receiving some of the remedies they've come to expect, but ones
unfamiliar to those outside of Farin given instead.  Reactions are mixed,
with some happy with the new remedies, while others say they'd rather have
the old.  Still others report they've seen bottles of alcohol about, or have
even had their wounds treated with it.  The Physicians' Leadership has not
made any public announcement on the matter.  

 Tl; dr: There's been some changes at the Madison, but people are still
getting treatments.  Reactions are varied.

Following Roland's flight to Vandago after his loss at the Battle of
Beresfield, the Duchess Ianka von Dusairus ab Harmon of Vandago has made
clear that she is aligning her own fate with that of the upstart and rival to
King Amir's throne.  After housing and protecting him, now word has come from
Vandago with a damning announcement: the Duchess' sixteen-year-old
granddaughter, Lady Brenvilde von Dusairus, has been betrothed to Roland. 
When Amir heard the news, he was reportedly incensed.  This escalates the
dire straights of the relations between Lithmore and her nominally
subservient duchy of Vandago, clearly either preparing to support Roland's
claim to the throne or to maneuver for political concessions.

TLDR: Duchess Ianka has announced the betrothal of her granddaughter to
Roland, further straining relations between Lithmore and Vandago.

the fires of the pyre, and sent to the Lord.  Notably, the Grand Inquisitor

slippery slope of indulging in too much alcohol, and too few confessions.  As
if she was quoting someone.

cleansed.  The young woman is said to be a seamstress and leatherworker from

The Barony of Asglen rolls out their own cadres of troubadours and clerks, as
well as political clout to ensure this year's Yule Faire is a success.  Men
and women are encouraged to visit other city quarters and buy gifts to their
loved ones.  Norrig op Arcenant is working closely with the Merchants to
smoothen the process, and is asking for support and influence to this end.

Word has arrived from Vandago, first arriving by pigeon in cool words, and
soon backed up by the five fleeing knights admitted through the Amhurst
border: Dame Ianthe Meadows and a team of five of her knights have been
executed for the attempted capture or assassination of Roland ab
Beaufort-Harmon, who has been there under the protection of Duchess Ianka. 
Dame Meadows invaded the ducal palace and was found in Roland's chambers,
attempting to tie him up.  The other knights were discovered with her or
elsewhere in the palace as a part of the same attempt, and all six were
beheaded in the city's great square on Decembris 8 384.  The tired knights
making it back to Lithmore confirm that the group attempted the maneuver to
capture Roland and that they fled when the others were caught or killed in
action, but they maintain that the orders came directly from Dame Meadows -
and not King Amir or any of his top officials.  Despite this, the wording of
the announcement from Duchess Ianka does seem to strongly suggest that she
lays the blame directly at the King's feet.  The already tense relations
between the duchy and the kingdom's capital seem sure to further worsen.

The Lady Chancellor the Exchequer, Perelle op Symons, has put out a call for
charitable efforts this Yule.  Those who can spare it are asked to put aside
food, clothing, and supplies for the almshouses in Lithmore, and encouraged
to put forward tithes to the Holy Order and its charitable efforts. 
Additional contributions are offered from the Town Hall, support, coin,
clerks, and manpower on offer to those who would put it toward the needs of
the impoverished.

Arcenant, previously Prima Ballerina and Poet Knight of the Troubadours has
taken the mantle as Poet Laudate.  Her House's involvement in the Arts
long-standing she gave a quiet speech about continuing to have the Hollow
Globe be a place that fostered Truth and Beauty and working closely with King
and Council for the betterment of the realm.

With the light applause for the gathering of Apprentices and Journeyman, she
stepped back inside to start work on the latest and greatest.

Upon hearing of the most recent action against a very member of the clergy of
the Order, Archbishop Raylene ab Almassin is convinced that Lucretia ab Sarin
is holding the position to murder people for her own personal reasons, rather
than upholding the substance of the church to seek the cleansing of people's
souls.

She has already written the High Synod with examples of her selfishness, and
now she appeals to both them and the masses to attempt to remove someone
drunk with power, so that order can be restored again to the Order.
