I move that lore should influence how much you can get from a character's "help player" file. Then, just like there can be multiple lore items in a room depending on your skill rank, you could learn more about a character.
So I might set a rank 0 as "Applesauce comes from Tubor," rank 25 as "Applesauce's mother was a hamster and his father smelt of elderberries," and rank 50 as "Applesauce killed a man in Vavard, just to watch him die."
Not sure how this would specifically be integrated into how help player works right now, but I would really love the ability to set this.
lore + help player
I'd like to see help player remain as it is.
However, I do like the idea of player lore.. perhaps players can have the option of writing their own lore on their characters, visible via "look lore <character>"? Give a chance to write something more in depth than what appears in help player and to write about infamous/famous deeds done while in the city.

I think this is a wonderful idea, and I second the motion.
I would prefer not to set lore on my character for someone to look at, as the idea behind the help player file is that it contains information others can learn about you by "asking around."
If players have the option to set their own lore information in their help files, it creates a wonderful opportunity for folks to enhance their own story and at the same time, it wouldn't require people who -don't- want to use it, to change anything.

This is just a different way to implement the same idea, so I'm all for it. In fact, the way you describe sounds closer to how lore works in rooms so probably easier to get into the code. Dunno.Bennie wrote:I'd like to see help player remain as it is.

I don't have much of a preference for how it's set, I just want more important things to be exposed as City Lore skill increases.
