Code: Select all
Code Spec FOLLOWERS
Syntax: Minion <name>
Minion <name> remove
Minion list
This command is simply to give your loyalty to another player. It
grants them social weight and can be used in code calculations of
reputation, retainers, votes, etc.
'Minion <name>' will make you another player's minion.
'Minion <name> remove' will remove your loyalty from that player.
You are never required to give your support to a player, but you
can only ever give one person your support. If you do give your
support, you are not required to act loyally. This code is intended
to enable code benefits to the master, such as reputation.
It is appropriate to be the minion of the single person your
character would, under most reasonable circumstances, take orders
from above all others. So, your guild leader or IC employer would
be a prime candidate.
Masters, please expect to pay or otherwise compensate your minions
in an IC fashion.
Imminfo:
Minion <name> list will show a player's minion list - command level 110.
-----------------------------
* Players cannot become minions of their own minions.
* Minion list outputs alphabetically as follows:
Minions: Value: Reputation : <minion value total>
<A Name> # Num of Minions: <# of minions in list>
<B Name> #
... #
... #
<Z Name> #
* A player's value is = to that of their own minions (eg, their reputation). The master's power is their player's value totalled.
* Careful to prevent circular references (as noted)

I realize this may be a really petty request, but can the name be changed from minion to something a little less sinister such as retainer, entourage, agent, bootlicker? From a very OOC perspective, I would be more willing to make my character join an entourage than to be a mindless, soulless minion. Semantics!

I don't see why not. I originally developed this concept for a Roman-style game where it was 'patron/client', but I don't think that terminology fits TI so much.
This said, minion kinda does fit TI's theme, and it'd make sense if a character refused to be anyone's minion.
Alternately, I'm happy to take suggestions?

I think it needs to be specified more clearly exactly what 'minion' means. Example, you are a noble, you wish to give your support to Other Slightly Higher Noble 'A' in court politics. In another circumstance, a freeman is ICly hired as a servant of a noble's House and takes orders from the noble. Would both qualify as 'minions'?

I suppose so. I think it'd be up to the player who is following the other player to decide if whatever relationship they have with someone qualifies. You can only follow one person, so I'd think they'd make it somehow someone really important to them.

This has been re-written as follows:
Syntax: support show
support add <name>
support prioritize <name>
support subvert <name>
support remove <name>
support list
support base <name> # <-- imm only command
Support show displays to a player everyone who supports them, their overall
rankings with various factions, and the number of players they themselves can
support. It is not obvious who might be betraying them.
Support list shows a player everyone they are supporting. Please keep your
list in priority order as, if your ability to support a given number of players
diminishes, the those last on the list will be dropped first.
Support increase <name> will either add someone to your support list or move
them up on the list if they're not already there (to decrease someone, simply
increase the person next in line).
Support remove <name> will clear a player's support of that person completely.
Support subvert <name> allows a player to spend a point of their support pool
to work against another player's social powerbase. Consider it a counter-vote.
Once a week, support and social reputation is recalculated. If you have given
or received support in a given week, you will receive a silver bonus at the
end of the week.
Players can support a number of people based on several factors. This is their
support pool.
IMMINFO
Support base <name> # is a staff command to suppliment a player's support pool,
giving them additional "votes".

Any comments on this one? I've passed the spec to Az and hope to see it in play soon.
