Hi All!

Had an idea for the creation of skeleton keys. Their primary use would be in guildhalls, as a single key that would open all doors within that guild- I'd see them mostly in the hands of guildleaders. It would certainly save from the court guild's problem of some 20 different keys throughout the palace. This could potentially be used for houses as well. Basically, such a key would be keyed to a range of vnums, rather than a single vnum.

Thoughts?

Great idea. I've lost a key because of having too many for one building.

Wouldn't this be what keyrings are for?

The difference would be when you have a NEW person that needs keys. The imm only has to load one object rather than walk around a zone and figure out your dozen keys.

I have heard it's a pain =)

When I got promoted to EM, the imms only had to load one object. It was a key to the Guildhall keymaster's room. There I was able to get all of the keys to the Keep. Do the other guilds not have this vendor? (Not trying to be an ass, just trying to see if this is something unique to the Knights or not)

You could make a keyring out of 'skeleton keys'. One for your whole house, your whole GH, your second GH, your mistress's house, your second mistress's house, your horse's house.

Y'know.

Not all the guilds. It's a good idea though.

All the guilds should have a mobshop for GL keys and sometimes other GL-managed eq/items. If your guild doesn't have one, request board the staff and refer to this post to get it free.

The initial subject was for one key to rule all keys, a skeleton key, that can open all doors in an area (probably one that you own). A house, a GH, etc. It cuts down on key clutter, especially when you're juggling jail keys, several GH keys, keys to your house, keys to places in the Court, and keys to somebody else's house.

It would mostly be used by GLs for their GHs, from what I'm getting. And people with their houses. I like it immensely for GLs, because it allows a GL to have several billion keys, sectioning out their GHs in several billion bits for players of different rank to have different levels of access to...

But still letting the GL move through them all, with just one master key. At least, that's what I would apply them for.
