A plethora of gaily coloured silk pillows with fringes and tassels
completely conceal the floor. A large pillow in the corner stands out, a
brooding black mass of velvet and fringeless. Screens of nature scenes
painted with the spare strokes of a brush that hint at and outline the
subjects, leaving much to the imagination. Behind the screens, silk
curtains and sheets painted with bright patterns hide the walls, pulled
back only around the windows that pierce the southern and western walls to
look out over a lush garden filled with an untamed riot of plants and
trees.

Kinaed claims, "Last week, I wrote up a spec to change how draw works, took down notes for stealth (a skill to replace hide and sneak), and a POLCA for IC Events on executions - which has a poll up on the forums that very few people bothered to respond to, alas."

Kinaed states, "This week, I intend to finish the stealth spec, but Az has requested staff have a staff meeting about it after this, so I'll probably hold off until after that is done."

Kinaed states to Samantha ab Vortina, "I posted an announce board about it."

Kinaed says, "Announce Board 7"

Samantha ab Vortina trails off, "Ah... hmm"

Azarial states, "I hvae most of the mail profile handler up and runnning. temi has found a crash, and a few other bugs. I hvae a solution for a major roadblock, and I'll work on that again late tonight or tomorrow."

Haidar Abn'Zahi doesn't check the forums because he honestly forgets about them.

Azarial claims, "Some small bugs fixed, some typos, some more second person usage removed."

Kinaed nods at Azarial.

Azarial claims, "Otherwise, mostly mail. that involved a polca, assorted new commands, saving to disk, all the fun stuff C required."

Azarial says, "Requires."

Haidar Abn'Zahi has left the game.

Kinaed queries, "viewtopic.php?f=12&t=818 <-- these are the current staff priorities, and this is pretty up to date, though I'm planning on an expansion to the bounty command to allow people to advertise nefarious goods and services (selling poison? Assassin jobs? Etc)"

Kinaed claims to Temi, "You're up, Temi."

Samantha ab Vortina states, "Oh that sounds fun kinaed"

Temi claims, "Okay! So.. not a great week for Temis."

Azarial says, "Bounties: putting people in the deadbook since 351"

Karrina ab Vazien goes over and consoles all the Temis.

Temi claims, "I disappered last week with computer troubles, had to go get it repaired.. but wasn't going to be able to restore with just a part replacement, so the laptop had to be sent back to the manufacturer."

Temi declares, "So I haven't had my laptop all week, but the email updates inform me that it's headed on its way home now!"

Samantha ab Vortina eyes go wide "There are multiple temis?" smirks but goes all serious "Ah... computer troubles are the bane of so many existances.. but at least it was fixable."

Temi says, "And some personal stuff and cold have conspired to make me not too productive beyond that, even with the hubby's laptop stolen."

Kinaed comforts Temi.

Nedyra hugs Temi.

Temi claims, "But I got enough testing done for Az to crash the game, and made a bit of progress on recipe steps for tailoring."

Kinaed smiles.

Temi says, "Slow progress inching along on that."

Kinaed nods at Temi.

Samantha ab Vortina offers temi his condolences

Temi states, "And that's my week."

Nedyra claims, "Game crashes are always pretty."

Nedyra nods.

Kinaed states to Nedyra, "You're up."

Nedyra says, "I haven't had Temi's luck with technology, beyond replacing a hard drive for a server last weekend (note: not TI's server, don't worry). Other than that, been sick, then school's been kicking me in the rear."

Nedyra states, "But I've gotten a bit more done re: researching for seasonal economy. that's happening."

Kinaed nods at Nedyra.

Nedyra states, "Also working on documentation to add to the newbie area, a suggestion from a previous OOc chat I haqven't forgotten."

Kinaed nods.

Nedyra has forgotten how to spell, however.

Samantha ab Vortina trails off, "Can i say something about that seasonal economy? or perhaps ask a question... it could go either way"

Kinaed claims to Samantha ab Vortina, "Of course."

Nedyra says, "Other than that, it's been pretty routine. And I expect more of the same this week, school permitting."

Nedyra spikes the floor over Temi's head and at Kinaed.

Samantha ab Vortina wonders, "Well here's my only problem i see with it... Given how the ooc time translates to ic time wouldn't the season's go by too quick to really make an impact?"

Samantha ab Vortina states, "In three months we can go through all four seasons"

Kinaed finishes abruptly to Samantha ab Vortina, "I don't think so - it's a 3 month OOC Cycle means a 1 month IC Cycle"

Kinaed claims, "I think it's enough to appreciate."

Carmen states, "It does seem like a huge project for minimal impact, a bit."

Samantha ab Vortina trails off, "Well as i said was just an idea... and yeah carmen is thinking along the same lines i am"

Azarial says, "Having high prices for a month OOCly gets the idea across that winter is bad for pineapples and pineapple upside down cakes in cooking, but not enough to really be frustrating, I would think"

Kinaed states, "I don't think it's that big, maybe medium sized."

Azarial states, "Kinda small, really. one table, one set of mods to buy, someone to populate the table as they care to."

Kinaed states, "But yes, I agree with Az - I'd like the game and economy both to feel more living."

Azarial claims, "It also paves the way for event based price modifications."

Kinaed nods at Azarial.

Azarial states, "River pirates blocakde gailech ore shipments! no iron in lithmore."

Kinaed asks, "Okay, I think that's the end of Nedyra's update?"

Nedyra says, "Most of the work behind that project is research. Once I fill in all the gaps, it's insert value A into slot B and hit save."

Kinaed claims, "If so, one thing I should have added to the agenda was staff announcements, so here's a few quick ones."

Nedyra states, "Anyway. Yeah, that's me, Kinaed."

Kinaed smiles at Nedyra.

Kinaed says, "Enid has stepped down from staff. As we've had lower activity of late, we're not intending to replace her immediately until or unless things pick up a bit."

Kinaed claims, "And, I'm not sure what it means for TI, but my contract at work ended early, ironically because I delivered the project I was hired to do three months early."

Kinaed claims, "Well, on time, but I think they kept the extra three months because statistically, they've always been late."

Kinaed queries, "Okay, next item - Player Heartbeat. How's RP been for everyone?"

Karrina ab Vazien says, "It has been rather 'meh' this week. Not a lot of people on during the times I'm able to be logged in."

Kailynne trails off, "Suprising, that's about all I got..."

Carmen states, "Yeah, it's been quiet. We're in one of those lulls."

Samantha ab Vortina trails off, "Hmm... what very little i have been on this last week has been great... mainly ooc stuff for the knights is what my week was... poor kinaed and all the helpfile related items i put on her plate"

Kinaed wonders, "Anyone have an opinion or thought as to why we're lulling?"

Carmen claims, "Not a lot of 'events' lately."

Samantha ab Vortina queries, "Summer? people are just taking advantage of what heat there is etc?"

Carmen claims, "Events meaning both planned things like STs and staff plots but also sort of impromptu player trouble."

Kinaed nods.

Kinaed claims, "Well, staff are planning a quest-plot."

Kinaed muses to Nedyra, "Anything you want to say about that?"

Karrina ab Vazien questions to Nedyra, "Like a date that can be published?"

Nedyra says, "At the moment, we're basing part of the quest plot in Daravi territory. This means NPC's. Played by you. And the outcome of that plot will determine the shape of the next level."

Samantha ab Vortina trails off, "Ah daravi... bout all that can be said"

Kinaed says, "Staff look to be planning to complete, at least, throwing by then. I plan to add archery and ranged combat in general to the staff meeting after this one today."

Nedyra says, "I'm looking at hopefully either end of this month, beginning of July for the actual launch date."

Nedyra says, "However, look for fluctuation in that date depending on whether or not we can see the beginnings of new combat thinggies."

Kinaed claims, "Okay, well - hopefully those things will kick up our attendance and RP soon."

Carmen states, "Oh man, so excited about throwing. I used to RP it all the time."

Azarial says, "The munchkin is going three to fours between feedings, so sleep is more plentiful."

Kinaed questions to Carmen, "Carmen, you had two topics you wanted to introduce. Care to start with the first one?"

Samantha ab Vortina turns and looks expectantly

Carmen claims, "Okay! So, about half of you know I was in a scene earlier this week where a player used a spell to force me to do something. The player forced me to 'submit' to arrest."

Carmen claims, "Once you're arrested, you can't resist movement (auto-following the arrester) and you also cannot fight."

Carmen claims, "It's my opinion there needs to either be a change as to how crippling arrest is, or the spell used shouldn't be able to force insta-submit to arrest as it leaves the victim unable to fight back in any way."

Carmen queries, "I'm wondering if other people concur this is a problem and/or have suggestions?"

Kinaed says, "I'm not sure if I concur it is a problem. I see the argument, but in practice I think it may (and I'm not sure it is) be appropriate for the game. Mages should be scary, and an arrest doesn't - to my understanding at the moment- guarantee a PK."

Azarial claims, "And it would complicate things for the knights trying to do their job agaisnt the mages."

Carmen claims, "I haven't yet tested if you can attack somebody you hold the bonds of."

Kinaed states, "On the other side, if this became as common as chewing gum, I'd probably think it absolutely was a problem."

Carmen states to Kinaed, "I think it's becoming more common now. That spell has seen a lot more use recently."

Samantha ab Vortina rubs her chin while growing a long beard "Hmm... I have to say i am neutral on this.. and you can carmen it is called inflict."

Carmen claims, "...Oh. Inflict, crud, yes."

Kinaed says, "Well, allowing people to fight or get out of restraints once restrained."

Carmen says, "SO you can PK somebody in your bonds by inflicting them to death and then finishing, probably."

Kinaed queries, "Anyone willing to OOCly test this for staff?"

Azarial says, "Of course, domainte-submit, feed sleeping potion, and that negates that."

Carmen says, "Totally willing."

Kinaed states to Carmen, "Cool, thanks. I'll hook you up after."

Carmen says, "I think it would be better for RP honestly if ALL arrests were a bit more escapable."

Carmen muses, "Okay. So the only solution for this would be to remove submit from dominate?"

Kinaed claims to Carmen, "Quite possibily. We'll test it and see where we go."

Samantha ab Vortina queries, "It is already hard enough to arrest somebody... why make it hard to keep them arrested.. and when was the last time someone was able to escape their bonds in real life? it doesn't happen often"

Carmen says, "(I actually love the spells, it's just the arrest problem that concerns me) "

Kinaed claims to Samantha ab Vortina, "Exactly, TI would fall apart."

Carmen states to Samantha ab Vortina, "People fight back in bonds, though, even if they're hampered. And I'd like to see some difficulty there."

A brown-eyed, darkly-complected woman says, "I suppose I might feel differently if I were the target, but- so far, even with the whole Saama ordeal, seems to have driven a fair amount of RP."

Samantha ab Vortina trails off, "They can fight back but the most that happens is they end up running... not actually escaping bonds"

A brown-eyed, darkly-complected woman states, "As I recall, she went around forcing people to submit then, too."

Samantha ab Vortina states, "They ussually require a second person to actually escape the bonds"

Carmen states, "I didn't know about it re: Saama to object to it then, but I think it is honestly a hole that needs to be plugged."

Kinaed states, "Well, it's definitely in need to be looked at. Also, I intend to revisit regnancy - but I have to ask."

A brown-eyed, darkly-complected woman claims, "She failed a lot because she was relatively new."

Carmen claims, "I do personally feel an ideal solution would allow an attempt to break free (still being cuffed is fine) and an attempt to fight back (being mega hampered is fine), while keeping regnancy able to force submit."

Kinaed claims, "Regnancy takes time to implement, if someone managed to RP with you long enough to bind you up enough to enforce an arrest, I'm not sure they don't deserve it - though I think that's not perfect atm and have plans to update."

Carmen states, "Regnancy worked instantly on me."

Carmen states, "Dunno how rare that is."

Samantha ab Vortina trails off, "I am not understanding your question here kinaed... "

Kinaed states to Carmen, "The attempt to break from from an arrest, once it is in place, is not going to happen and is off the table. "

Carmen says, "Okay."

A brown-eyed, darkly-complected woman claims, "I would be okay with restraints being less auto-restraining, though- because I think it opens up more avenues for RP."

Kinaed says to Carmen, "In order for it to work on you, the mage has to actually make you a regnant, which means casting regnancy on you, probably multiple times, in RP, to get a strong enough bond on you to force something like that."

A brown-eyed, darkly-complected woman states, "Nevermind, then."

Carmen says, "This may have been a very freaky fluke but it went cast, my emote, their attempt to arrest, my attack, their successful dominate - with a PC I had never met before."

Carmen claims, "Single cast."

Kinaed claims to a brown-eyed, darkly-complected woman, "Right now, if you don't submit, it goes to combat."

A brown-eyed, darkly-complected woman states, "I thought it went to arresting state, not necessarily combat."

Kinaed says to a brown-eyed, darkly-complected woman, "They must defeat you in combat before you are restrained, if you choose to fight; so restrain is not automatic."

Carmen says, "You try to arrest, they can only submit or fight."

Carmen says, "But them attacking you does NOT break the arrest attempt, as he was able to arrest me even after I'd attacked him."

A brown-eyed, darkly-complected woman says, "Gotcha. I think the last time someone tried to force me to submit and I didn't, they ended up attacking me anyway, so I didn't know that was my option."

Kinaed says to a brown-eyed, darkly-complected woman, "This regnancy thing does force a player to submit instead of fight, which is something we're looking at removing. And I'm also looking at updating how regnancy works because it's... well, poorly done for RP, I think."

A brown-eyed, darkly-complected woman claims, "Bummer."

Carmen states, "Oh amen. Regnancy as a pure coded force isn't ideal."

Carmen says, "It should be able to do more than what you can just force."

Carmen claims, "And in some cases do less."

Kinaed states, "Okay, I think we've gotten as far on the regnancy/arrest combo as we can. We'll do some testing, I'll spec up some changes to regnancy."

Carmen claims to Samantha ab Vortina, "Doesn't mean you have to treat every injury in the same way or with the same techniques, just is meant to codify what we know about infection, for example, and that we don't have, say, stethoscopes."

Kinaed questions to Samantha ab Vortina, "I'm not sure why having more IC information about medical technology and general beliefs/standards about medical practice could possibly hurt RP in the long run. From the perspective of straying, can you provide what you view as a legitimate example of straying so I can answer that?"

Kinaed states, "Generally speaking staff don't get involved in theme enforcement simply because we almost never have to."

Samantha ab Vortina wonders, "Sure kinaed. Let's say i were to rp treating a wound... yet the methods used were not exactly part of the medical manual... could that be seen as malpractice or the physician not knowing what they are doing?"

Carmen claims, "As the author I can say that's 100% not what I meant by standards and all."

Karrina ab Vazien says to Samantha ab Vortina, "Either or it could be seen as you having your own efficient method of treating the wound."

Kinaed says, "I doubt anyone would go that route or make that accusation unless the RP really warranted it."

Carmen says, "I mostly wanted to set in stone the -technology- and the knowledge level more than the actual techniques."
