Izabella Shamuson was from a small village in the north part of Tubor.
Upon arriving in Lithmore, she assumed a management position at the
Bluebird's Ballad. Eventually it was discovered that she had been
receiving "mage meat" from her home village, and having the cooks prepare
and serve it to patrons.

She would explain to her captors that her village is comprised of Davites,
but that they would reserve and consume a small portion of mage flesh as
part of the burning ceremony.

That Izabella hid her process from cooks and patrons alike indicates clear
knowledge that what she did was wrong, and she admitted knowing it would be
seen as heretical in Lithmore. In addition, deliberately exposing herself
and others to the taint of corrupted flesh and blood is, itself, a form of
magery. Grand Inquisitor Loreth ab Radford took her confession and oversaw
her cleansing by fire at River Square in the evening of Januarius 22, 361.

Furthermore, the Archbishop of Tubor will be contacted regarding Izabella's
hometown, that they might be turned to proper worship of the Lord of the
Springs.

After a long deliberation by the Council of Merchants, Alphos dul
Meticus has been appointed Grand Magnate of the Guild of Merchants. Alphos
dul Meticus previously acted as Trade Representative of Vavard, managing
the fine imports sent by ship to Lithmore. He also acts as Chairman of the
Meticus Banking Consortium, a banking and moneylending enterprise that
operates in the major cities across the Kingdom. Some remain skeptical
that the Guild of Merchants will ever return to it's former glory, but a
prized few sing praises of Alphos' financial and managerial savvy.
Time will tell if he proves to be an effective leader of the Kingdom's
merchants.

The Troubadours of Lithmore officially announced today their decision to
appoint Johannes op Eremitan as Poet Laudate. The man, though young, has
already earned fame in Tubor as well as in coastal cities that served as
ports-of-call for Tubori merchant vessels.

Many wonder the wisdom of chosing such a young and relatively unknown man
to fill this public position. Whispers among the bards themselves indicate
a hope for firm and passionate leadership to guide the guild into the
future and bring some new life to it.

When asked for comment, Bard op Eremitan only echoed these sentiments
saying he was honored at the unexpected appointment and intended to do what
he could to present the guild as a light forward through a future marked by
the uncertainty of major shifts in the Monarchy and rife with darkness of
magery and crime.

As a first act of his tenure, Bard op Eremitan has announced he will throw
a public party at the Globe to whom all of the city are invited to attend.

Following the abduction of Caitrin ab Samael, there has been no sign of
the young royal. However, her absence has been keenly felt in Lithmore,
especially among those in the palace facing Queen Regent Katerina ab Samael
in a tense position. Most noteworthy, a clash between the Regent and
Alexander ab Chevalier, brother of former Queen Cellan ab Samael, who has
not been seen since Caitrin's disappearance, resulted in Alexander's
relocation into a suite of the palace under heavy guard, accompanied by
young sons Cassim and Khosar. Whispered word suggest that they are held
hostage against Cellan's good behavior.

A new Tax Chief has been appointed in lithmore, and has set to work with
a fervor to impress - notices of foreclosures have been sent to those who
are significantly owing in their back taxes. City officials have been seen
coming and going into various estates, emptying them of their previous
belongings that have been forfeited for their failure to pay. Homes have
been relisted at the Lithmorran Real Estate Office. The common folk are
all abuzz, feeling a new sense of urgency to pay their taxes properly and
on time.

At midnight, Februarius 2nd, the bodies of several members of Queen Regent
Katerina's personal guard were found in the Azadar Suites of the palace.
Burnt beyond recognition the bodies were immediately taken for
investigation while a search for Regent Katerina proved futile.
The bodyguard of Mrs. Shaylei de Roldan, wife of Earl Marshall Argider de
Roldan, was also found amongst the scorched dead. The bodyguard, however,
lives - though he has yet to awaken from an unconcious state.
As for the location of one Casimir ab Azadar, one need only read the flyers
that even now mysteriously populate lamp posts, shop windows, and notice
boards:
Marquis Casimir ab Azadar, Lord of Avonna, cordially invites you to the
Town Hall Ballroom, where there will be fun and games presented for all!
The party will begin when the sky is on fire; Don't be late!
(STP: This Saturday, 1:00 PM PST, 4:OO PM EST, 9:00 PM GMT.)

_________________________________________________________________________
On the 11th day of Februarius, the Town Hall was quickly filled by curious
folk who thought they were going to an eccentric party, thrown by an
eccentric man. How wrong they were as they stepped into the ballroom to
obvious displays of powerful magery - explosions, slaughter, kidnapping,
torture the group that came out were ragged and torn. When the stewards of
the Town Hall went to assess the damages to the ballroom they found the
room practically unsalvageable, with a huge pit burnt into the middle of
the room and several gallons of dried blood spread across the floor.

What happened that day is spoken of in hushed tones or not at all.
Whispers arise that a demon with peeling skin, writhed in fire, appeared
and ate a few choice victims. Some detail Casimir ab Azadar summarily
having his army execute the party and random. And still others tell about
an even crazier story, one of many trials, and somber tribulation. In the
end the Queen Regent was slain, the Earl Marshall found his wife; the Prime
Medicus found her daughter and all was set right in Lithmore, if only for a
brief time. Enough time to heal, and to grieve.

In the immediate wake of Regent's Katerina disappearance, the situation
at Lithmore's palace was thrown into turmoil and confusion, a situation
only exacerbated after knowledge of her death was announced. On the
evening of Februarius 14th 361, armed men in the command of Sir Alexander
ab Chevalier, the brother of the deposed Queen Cellan peacefully marched to
the palace. They flew the combined banners of Savir, Lothos and Mont
Innes, but came against forces of other nobles descending upon the capital.
Refusing to surrender leadership to Sir Chevalier, especially with Cellan
not having re-emerged nor taken any stand against Katerina, the forces came
to agrement of a tentative peace - pending the decisions of a Baronial
Council. The combined forces have now officially called said council to
take place in approximately a month, giving time for any nobility to come
to participate.

Dante Ezzelino was cleansed for magery. Attendees of the cleansing
report that the officiating priest was none other than Father Iain Roseren
who himself appeared for the ceremony covered in blood and looking badly
beaten.
According to the best sources, Dante Ezzelino attacked the Father with
magic in the midst of their Review and nearly escaped. Some gossips name
Father Iain himself bringing down the man, others say he almost killed the
priest before being apprehended by Ahalin's gaolers.
Regardless, Ezzelino went to the pyre spouting declarations of the guilt of
many public figures and telling the populace gathered in River Square that
the nobility and clergy were not to be trusted. On the stake, he is said
to have told the people he had turned in a large number of mages to the
Inquisition during the Review. This declaration has sparked some paranoia
and anxiety as the city holds its breath, waiting to see just who has been
named and who will be commended to the pyre next.
