A contingent of a score of Knights was seen to depart Lithmore, heading
south. Word is that their orders are to help reinforce those stationed at
the Border Passes from Edessa to Farin and to assist refugees in leaving
Edessa. Many of the Farin knights in Lithmore are among those sent on this
mission and spirits are high, hoping that this will help to relieve some of
the concerns about dangers to Farin.

A document is being circulated around the major cities Lithmore and Farin.

Attention to all interested parties: The Merchants Guild is currently
considering the situation of our trade routes and the provision of
mercenary services between Lithmore and Farin. This has been spurred on by
recent concerns with regards to mercenary activities in the Farin-Lithmore
area, and the intention of this tender is to drive proffesionalism in the
ranks of mercenary companies.

The winning party will be decided on the basis of the following:

a) Realisable proposals around price reductions and consolidation of
services.
b) Demonstrably good historical reputation of the company and their senior
officers.
c) Plans to ensure the proffesionalism of mercenary conduct while
in-and-out of contract and to provide open accountability.
d) Any other noteworthy parts of the proposal that add substantial value.

While the intention is to offer the entirity of this work to a single
company, the Merchants Guild reserves the right to offer individual trade
lanes to companies with an outstanding offer in that area.

This public tender will close on the 15th day of Aprilis, SC 364. All
submissions must be sent to Grand Magnate Zeita von Zarrova, Emma ab
Courtland the Magnate of Lithmore and Tamothie de Issejias (NPC) the
Magnate of Farin.

Questions may be addressed to any of the above individuals.

Zeita's approval shifts from Approved to Loved.

Acolytes, being notorious gossips, have been overheard talking about a
recent flurry of communication between His Holiness and the Cardinal of
Farin. As part of the withdrawal the Grand Magnate wanted to meet with the
Cardinal to discuss getting the church's help in putting the returning
troops back to work.

The Cardinal of Fairn was so pleased with their meeting that he dispatched
several acolytes and priests to aid in teaching the returning troops of
lower social status how to read, write, do figures, tend crops, and other
basic skills.

The Guild of Merchants hereby declares that for grave insult against the
guild and endangering the physical person of the Grand Magnate, that action
must be taken against the Baron of Lema. Therefore, please find that the
Baron of Lema, his immediate family, all of those directly employed by him
and his feudral subjects are considered BLACKLISTED from all Merchant Guild
services, including trade and banking. Furthermore, until this matter is
resolved, due to concerns over their ongoing safety, no merchant caravans
are permitted to travel through or trade within the barony's borders. All
merchants currently trading in the barony are encouraged to relocate to the
baronies of Vorseethe and Musgat.

This blacklisting will not be lifted until the guild is wholly satisfied
that such actions will not occur again and that full, appropriate
recompense is made. Let it also be known that such action will be taken
against any group or individual that similarly interferes with the agents
of the Merchants Guild, no matter their position or title.

Drafted by Juhli Pidgeoner, head scribe of the Merchants Guild

Authorised by:
Zeita von Zarrova, Grand Magnate
Emma ab Courtland, Magnate of Lithmore
Timothie de Issejias, Magnate of Farin

The Lithmorran Court officially announced two betrothals today. Her Royal
Majesty, Queen Caitrin ab Samael, is to marry Rogelio de Montford, son of
Duke Cameron de Montford of Farin. Additionally, the Royal Heir, Her Royal
Highness Celeste ab Samael, is to marry Blaise dul Nizzola, half-brother of
Loran dul Acris, Duke of Vavard. As all parties are underage, no weddings
can of course be expected until they have reached the age of adulthood -
six years yet for the Queen, and longer still for her younger sister.

Such arranged marriages are common among the nobility, though the youth of
the parties involved is uncommon except for those of such exalted rank.
Unusually, both pairs are well-matched in age, less than a year's
difference separating each set of brides and grooms.

The marriages are no doubt intended to placate Farin and Vavard given the
recent rumblings over the withdrawal from Edessa; they appear to have
somewhat succeeded in this task, moderating some of the more strident
complaints.

The following letter was released publicly:

The Guild of Merchants are honoured to welcome the noble lord Saloman de
Noguerra to Lithmore and will be delighted to meet with him, once he has
finished trying to play the victim to disaffected Fariners. For the sake
of relations, the guild has decided to temporarily ignore the fact that he
is blusteringly making use of the property of a restaurant owned by a
member of the guild in good standing, in spite of the blacklist forbidding
such activity.

The fact of the matter is that all that the guild requires to alleviate
this issue is a simple, genuine and humble apology from the lord's brother
in Lema, that the guild may be reassured of his intentions and of the
safety of merchants to return to those lands. Sadly, however, the death of
a man recently by reported Leman partisans leaves the guild worried about
receiving such assurances, but we do remain hopeful.

Further, the guild wishes to add their sincere thanks for their recent
meeting with a member of the privy council who shared their support for the
guilds stance, and a promise to take it directly to the Baron himself, if
needed.

Lord Saloman de Noguerra has been gathering support in his time in
Lithmore, apparently writing several letters, though other than his
provisions for food in the Farin quarter, he has not yet been much out and
about. Rumor has him furious at the Grand Magnate's behavior, however,
iterating his brother's right to escort a woman who insults him and his
people from his own barony, and the merchants have blacklisted an entire
barony for this. He has been said to insist that apologizing to her for
this would erode the rights of the nobility and their ability to care for
their people. Supposedly, he hopes to meet with several people at the
Desert Heat in the Farin Quarter on June 7th (OOC Sunday evening Dec 14).
Though the merchants have not been invited, the lack of secrecy in the
meeting has some talking that they should make an appearance - and a
statement.

In the pre-dawn hours of the Capital on Maius 22nd pigeons flew ahead of
riders. Word quickly filtered out through Courtiers and the average
gossiper that the Lady Katarina ab Jinosa was slain while away to oversee
matters in Cort. Though there has been a great deal of unrest between
Farin and Lithmore this was not a result of such things. As the Dowager
Baroness of the lands the woman had entered into Cort and went about a few
days rest at the noble estate there before venturing on to check on the
state and moral of the troops stationed at the pass into Daravi. It is
while there a skirmish ensued with some rather diligent forces from the
Sultanate, clearly having found a weak spot in the thawing pass and taking
advantage of it. Only a handful of armed men and women were with the Noble
and they were all overcome by the surprise attack launched upon them.

The guild of merchants wish to make it known that the following
adjustment is to be made to the blacklisting: the common people of Lema are
no longer included in this ban. It does, however, remain in place for the
Baron, his immediate family, staff and direct servants. Merchants may
return to the lands at their own volition, but the guild will not fully
sanction formal trade until the matter is resolved and all agents of the
guild are advised to exercise caution in the area.
