Chaos and disaster erupted at the eastern docks late on the night of
Maius 30th when a small skiff, The Pride of Vavard, caught fire and sunk
completely within the Bren.

Reports suggest that the Pride may have been a slaver ship and its sinking
was part of a Reeve-led operation to break the ring of slavery that has
troubled Lithmore on several occasions in the past. Approximately a dozen
Charali and Lithmorrans, still chained, filthy and malnourished, were seen
being escorted to the hospital for medical care and later to the Keep to
recuperate behind safe walls.

The morning after, Ahalin also saw an influx of approximately a dozen
heavily injured prisoners, including one man who rumor says needed to have
one eye reinserted into the socket before he could be relegated to custody.

Late morning of Maius 31st, servants at the rented home of Lord Saloman
de Noguerra woke sluggishly to discover the lord had not already risen
before them. Instead, he lied dead in his bed, surrounding by a pool of
his own blood. Rumors abound on what happened, from a merchant plot to the
Daravi trying to incite war between the baronies. The incident has been
reported to the reeves, who are said to be investigating, but it seems
unlikely that the baron's brother will be making it to his previously
planned meeting. (Though one rumor did suggest wryly that mages intended
for his revenant corpse to still attend.) It remains to be seen how Lema,
and Farin in general, will respond to the nobleman's murder in Lithmore.
De Noguerra was in Lithmore to discuss the merchants blacklisting the
Barony of Lema after an incident with the Grand Magnate.

The mail issues and blackmail letters have been thrust into public
visibility with the release of two letters written by well-known
Lithmorrans.

Banker Marcin confirms that, much to his shame, he wrote the letter to his
daughter who has been stashed away with cousins outside the city while she
is pregnant with a bastard child. He states, however, that he will not bow
to blackmail and allow the criminal to profit off of this.

On the other hand, Bartender Lysander of the Queen's Inn hotly denies that
he wrote the letter in which he allegedly confirmed that he could purchase
spoiled meat for the inn at a steep discount. He claims he would never do
such a thing and whoever is behind this wrote the letter himself in an
attempt to ruin him.

revoking the blacklist before any more harm can be done. We regret that
matters have escalated so darkly, and the guild extends their deepest and

The Guild of Merchants respectfully announce that they will be selling
off the estate of the late Lady Katarina ab Jinosa on behalf of her family.
Various items of clothing, jewelery, plants, weapons and other items are
available, with the aim being to raise money for the continuing education
of her children. Any item not sold directly will be put up for auction in
a month. Discounts will be available for bulk purchases.

The house on Risiz Road is also available for sale through the guild.

Matchmaker:

The Guild of Merchants is currently looking for a singular individual to
meet with and interview candidates for the guild's matchmaking initiative.
The selected candidate will work closely with the Grand Magnate to
administer the program, oversee the finances and assist with making
appropriate matches. Membership in the guild is -not- required, but
current membership or a willingness to join will be looked upon
favourably.

Cosmetician:

The Grand Magnate is seeking a person to begin training to take over her
East Lithmore Perfume Boutique. Skill with chandlery or beauty products
will be looked upon favourably, but is not outright essential. However,
the selected candidate will be required to join and maintain membership in
the Guild of Merchants. Interested parties are asked to apply in writing to
the Grand Magnate, Zeita von Zarrova.

Come one, come all to the Summer Solstice Market and
Festival hosted by the Merchant's Guild on the 26 of June!

Besides a seasonal array of wares produced by the Guild's
many artisans there will be at midday a contest to see who
can concoct the best or most unusual honeyed delicacy, as a
celebration of the sweetness of life during the Holiday.

Entrants should have their drink or edible prepared by the 24
of June and sent to Magnate Emma ab Courtland, labeled with
the name of the vintner or cook! 5 gold crowns will be
awarded to the preparer of the dish or drink most favored by
the crowd.

There will also be a melon seed spitting contest, and the
winner will receive 1 gold crown.

Event times will remain unscheduled to allow for a schedule
accommodation; come any time, there is sure to be something
unfolding.


Dress is casual, with Tubori styles preferred!

Rumor has the Reeves dragging someone out of the courier's office and
off to Ahalin, and all the talk is that it is related to the recent issues
with mail being rifled through and blackmail. Though no official statement
has been released, people breathe a bit easier in Lithmore, and no one
reports additional incidents of blackmail and mail tampering - not that
they were really reporting them anyway. It seems likely the culprit has
been caught or is lying low.

With the withdrawal from Edessa leaving Lithmore's relationship tense
with other duchies, and even tenser with Farin after the murder of the
Baron of Lema's brother on a visit to the capital, Lithmore is placing hope
in the betrothals of the Queen and her sister. Queen Caitrin is to marry
Rogelio de Montford of Farin, and her sister Princess Celeste is to marry
Blaise dul Nizzola of Vavard. The betrothals have been agreed to, though
the contracts remain to be signed - and agreed to. Many Lithmorrans worry
that too much will be given up to Farin and Vavard in these deals, while
others fret that it will come to war if they don't work something out. In
recent days, it has become a source of not just debate but conflict and
arguments.

A caravan from Gailiech hauling in large amounts of iron was set upon on
its way into Lithmore. A single driver staggered into the cathedral from
the west, rambling on about the caravan's wheels all blowing off at once -
from a sudden gust of wind that came from -under- the caravan. And then
there was the burst of flames and he set off running. Presumably the rest
of the way to Lithmore, as he soon collapses right where he had stood,
unconscious in the middle of the cathedral's entryway. Having done nothing
to avoid making a scene, perhaps without the composure to even think of
doing so, a large number of churchgoers witnessed his arrival and collapse
and it is quickly all the talk of the town. Prices immediately jump on
iron in response to the attack on the caravan.
