In mid-Septembris 364 SC, the High Synod met to confer on various
doctrinal matters. Most notable among the declarations they made was the
announcement of Paynifier Ahalin's newly-acquinted sainthood. The great
Knight, the first woman to serve as Grand Master, was given the privilege
of sainthood to honor her tireless devotion to the Knighthood and to the
people's safety.

Audric's approval shifts from Approved to Approved.
The uplifting performance by the Troubadours at the recent Summer Solstice
Festival and every other public event since Audric op Vilar became the Poet
Laudate is being recognized by merchants across the city as a
much-celebrated revival within the Troubadour Guild, and the particularly
cautious method with which the Vavardi selects new members to join the
lofty troupe of Lithmore capitol's bards looked upon with great
admiration.
Many journeymen and novice workers have hung colorful ribbons off the
handles of their tools and in the door frames of their workman huts in
celebration of the city's appreciation for the Poet Laudate, and have
started leaving tiny gifts at the head bard's after the habit of more rural
peoples when a Troubadour comes to town.

Gerolf's approval shifts from Approved to Ousted.
Several members of the Holy Order are deeply angered by recent letters sent
by the plague-addled Cardinal of Lithmore, Gerolf von Steward and his
apparent at-the-hip relationship with the Archbishop Aurther Auguste, known
for brash statements and paranoia.
High Inquisitor Jenifyr von Vakhrova herself provided letters to the High
Synod containing strong words of chastisement towards multiple Orderites
for matters such as the cleansing of Silth Thorn, entering the quarantine
area during the plague and personally volunteering to ease His Holiness'
ailments, including Acolytes in Order business without the Cardinal's
express approval, demands that the Cardinal be directly involved in
Inquisitions, and even blaming the Inquisitorial Office for magical attacks
enacted against his person by mages. Further, she supplied letters that
even show that His Holiness strongly implied that Her Majesty and Sir
Casimir Aldair are romantically involved, and His Holiness chastising von
Vakhrova for her reply saying that there was neither enough evidence, nor
was it the sort of investigation the The Inquisition would concern itself
with as it was not a matter of heresy or magery.
Inquisitor von Vakhrova, in her usual precise manner, said to the High
Synod, "I believe the Cardinal's good sense has been addled by this
virulent plague; certainly his reputation by his actions immediately
thereafter has. I believe it is in the Order's best interest that he stand
down from the role of Cardinal until he regains the faith of the members
Holy Order who rely upon his leadership."

Gerolf's approval shifts from Ousted to Disliked.
It was a heated closed door meeting. The Cardinal from Tubor fought long
and hard to keep Stewart as Patriarch. Eventually he was able to sway
Farin and Vavard to his cause by pointing out that never had the church had
such favorable relations with the Troubadours, the merchants, and the
knights.
Vandango, who sent Vakhrova in the first place, was strongly against his
countryman arguing that he should have refrained from sending letters while
ill and he should have known better.
Letters came in from the Poet Laudate and the Grand Magnate supporting
Stewart being retained commenting that they considered him a close friend
and advisor.
Eventually the vote was taken, and it looks like Tubor may have convinced
enough people. What is clear, however, that his grip could be tenuous.

In the wake of the Political strike against His Holiness, Gerolf von
Stewart, the Bloody Bishop was reported to have met with the High Synod in
person. While the entire meeting was not revealed to the public, the
attending bard reported that the Bloody Bishop refuted many of Jenifyr von
Vakhrova's claims against His Holiness.
Though the attending bard was able to provide the following statement:
"Dearest High Synod, while the plague could bring adverse side-effects to
one's judgement, I would like to bring to your attention that Inquisitor
von Vakhrova herself recently recovered from the plague as well. Her own
judgement on the matter should be taken with a grain of salt and given
careful consideration. However I do not believe that the Physicians would
release either if they were truly suffering from ill after effects of the
plague."
"Furthermore His Holiness Gerolf von Stewart has seen the order through
many rough times in the last four years. When Lithmore's Clergy influence
was at it's lowest in the city, His Holiness kept the order afloat. While
Grand Inquisitors have come and gone, His Holiness has remained a constant,
never backing down in the face of adversity or even when his own Grand
Inquisitor tried to usurp power. This man has stared the abyss in the face
and endured, and his judgement has never been stronger. To remove the man
from his position based on the sole opinion of an inquisitor who dared not
return to lithmore when the city was in need of inquisitors the most would
be a truly unwise choice and would risk severing the strong bonds His
Holiness has built within this city and beyond."
What affect this shall have on the fate of His Holiness is still unknown.

Sir Casimir Aldair took to Church Square in what many expected would be
a whipping, public chastisement, or heart-felt apology to the public.
Instead what they got was a warning - an announcement.
"Reports have filed in of animals, fatally injured - even skinned,
recovering and roaming the wilderness with a ferocious appetite for
carnage. I have the highest hopes that a city who survived flood, famine,
mage invasion, and plague will hardly notice the onset of reanimated,
flayed wolves and bears stomping around the wilderness. Regardless, a few
notes from your neighborhood Knight's office:
Please do not wander the wilderness at night. It is not illegal, but
you'll probably die.
If you hunt, quickly strip what you need from your kill and bury it.
Better yet, sprinkle it with spring water and set it on fire.
If you see an animal with its skin peeling - or peeled - off, politely
avoid it.
That is all. At this time the Knights Lithmorran are investigating any
possible ties between the sudden outbreak of the 'don't-stay-deads' and
High Witch Zeita von Zarrova's mysterious herbal fog."
The moody, and completely handsome, Knight avoided any and all questioning
afterwards.

All of Lithmore is reeling from a shocking announcement released today.
An unscheduled secret meeting of the Baronial Council was called, exempting
several of the city's most prominent nobles but easily reaching a full
quorum; it seems as if many have been gathering in secret for some time.
The statement released by the Council was both terse and mysterious:
"We have learned today that Lord le Orban is guilty of moral turpitude and
a wealth of sins against all nature and decency. As such, effective
immediately, he is no longer welcome at Court and shall not be suffered to
hold Her Royal Majesty's Regency any longer.
The matter of a new Regent will hopefully be resolved shortly."
The city's gossip scene is rife with questions about the meaning of moral
turpitude (literal and figurative questions alike, depending on one's class
and education) and sins against nature. What might the former Regent have
done to earn such a drastic removal from his position? If anyone knows, at
the moment they aren't yet speaking up.

Shortly after the recent allegations levelled at the Lord Regent, Ariel
le Orban, and his removal from office by the Baronial Council, Her Royal
Highness, Queen Dowager Cellan ab Samael, released a public statement that
was disseminated throughout the city proper:
"My Lords and Ladies of the Council; Cardinal von Stewart; revered clergy
of Dav's Holy Order; most respected gentlemen and -women of Lithmore
Capitol: having been apprised of the accusations made against Lord le
Orban, I address you all with an official and public testimony of the
character and ideals of my good friend and colleague of fourteen years, in
the hope that you will consider this information in the coming weeks.
I became acquainted with Lord le Orban shortly after the demise of the ab
Harmon line, when several representatives of the Lithmorran nobility
arrived in the Capitol, hoping to stake their claim on the throne. Though
Ariel would, in future, prove himself a staunch ally and friend, it was
during this time that I first became aware of his intelligence and
uncompromising ethical standards. He rejected princely rewards from a
contender who would become known for his double-dealing and dishonesty.
Additionally, in conjunction with the then-Laudate, Herazade op Persela,
he threw his support behind the candidate he believed to be in the best
interests of the kingdom. Ariel persevered with his choice to back my late
husband, King Tobin ab Samael, even when it was made clear to him that he
might receive very little to nothing in return for his support.
Ariel's services to the kingdom since then have been countless, and his
loyalty to both Crown and Church unstinting. There are too many examples
by far of Lord le Orban's unimpeachable moral character and commitment to
truth and honour; because of this I shall only describe to you the one I
deem most instructive.
Many of you will recall the circumstances surrounding my withdrawal
from the Throne of Lithmore, and the internal strife that occurred within
the extended ab Samael family in the years following the death of King
Tobin. For those of you who can only refer to history books and hearsay:
my sister-in-law, Katerina ab Samael, in a blatant act of high treason,
seized power by force and held my two children, Caitrin and Celeste,
hostage in the Palace as she declared herself false Regent. In respect of
my late husband's wishes, and in support of the legal and rightful Queen
Monarch of Lithmore, Ariel le Orban took part in a rescue of the princesses
along with several influential members of the kingdom's nobility and
leadership. It was Ariel and the late Katarina ab Brayston who followed me
into the Palace that night to rescue my two daughters. Then, after making
certain that they were safely out of reach of a woman who would use them
for her own vile purposes, we returned to the city, where he took part in
voting for the Regency as you see it in its present form.
Throughout these events, Ariel le Orban fought to maintain the rightful
succession of the Throne and, in doing so, kept the kingdom from the hands
of a treasonous and opportunistic woman. When I consider the character of
such a man, who would act with unhesitating altruism and selflessness, I
find no resemblance with the figure painted in the allegations laid against
him. Such a man as has been described by his accuser would not have risked
so much in a dangerous quest that, by all accounts, might have cost him his
life and the inheritance of his children; such a man would have been more
likely to attach himself to Katerina ab Samael, to gain an influential and
powerful position in a new order--to exploit the situation to his own
benefit, and ensure his own survival. This is not what Lord le Orban did,
and this is not the first time that he has been willing to risk all for the
stability and safety of the kingdom.
His accuser, in short, has presented us with a caricature of a man who does
not match Ariel le Orban's well-known record for sacrifice, loyalty, and
unimpeachable moral and ethical standards. I do hereby formally challenge
and oppose his accuser, with all my might as Dowager Queen of Lithmore,
Countess of Awan Ride, and as the daughter of the Count of Mont Innes. I
beseech you all, in addition to this, to consider the motives that such an
accuser might have for desiring the public humiliation of a loyal servant
to the Throne and the Church.
I cannot speak to Lord le Orban's past: they are events for which I was not
present. I can, however, in full confidence, vouch for his character and
actions of the past fourteen years, which his accuser has attempted to
bring into doubt. I do, in short, unequivocally and whole-heartedly stand
by my dear friend, colleague, and fellow noble, to whom myself and His
Majesty, Tobin ab Samael of Lithmore, owe so much".

Given no new cases in the last week, the plague that swept Lithmore in
Augustus has been officially (if tentatively) declared as over.
Casualties ultimately numbered in the low hundreds, a number which might
have been far higher were it not for the efforts of many tireless stalwarts
of Lithmore's population.
Particularly of note, multiple volunteers aided the Madison in tending the
sick, and a none-too-small proportion of those ended up succumbing
themselves. The bards of Lithmore particularly distinguished themselves,
as they were both disproportionately prominent among early victims and
later volunteers.
Members of the Order also featured heavily among volunteers, and cared for
their charges' spiritual health as well as physical - valuable in the wake
of the golden fog that temporarily swept the plague's symptoms aside, and
healed a small proportion of victims permanently.
Additionally, many people were involved in ensuring that the quarantine was
rigorously enforced. Knights under the command of Sir Casimir Aldair
escorted multiple patients to the quarantine zone, and the Lady Justiciar
herself personally brought in patient after patient without ever succumbing
to illness.
Last but far from the least, the Physicians of Madison Hospital worked
nigh-endless hours both in tending to the sick and searching for cures.
The Prime Medicus Shaylei de Roldan and the Southside doctor Rain together
developed a treatment regimen that cut deaths to the plague to a fraction
of their previous virulence. This treatment saved many lives, including
those of the Cardinal, the Dowager Queen, and the (now former) Regent
themselves.
The hard work of these many individuals has borne fruit in a recovering
city.

After several weeks of silence, giving traders time to relax a bit and

cows up for sale from the south claims that he was set upon suddenly by
whipping winds, bursts of fire, and above-all, a humongous creature of iron
with blazing eyes and a large assortment of weaponry spiking down its arms

whipping winds, bursts of fire, and above-all, a humongous creature of iron
with blazing eyes and a large assortment of weaponry spiking down its arms
and back. He attributes his survival to his trusty horse, who spooked and
ran off with him on top, leaving his cows unattended. Returning later, he
was apparently able to find only a few cows, wandered off this way and
that.
