Would it be possible to add a perk that allows you to send a free messenger to an entire guild if you're a member of said guild?

I think this would be extremely helpful for rallying groups without having to rely on OOC means of communication (guild channels, pboard notes). Orderlies looking for surgeons to handle life-or-death medical situations, knights and reeves calling for backup, merchants and orderites and troubadours arranging details of public events, chief thiefs (yes, thiefs) sending out the go-ahead to crews to launch epic heists... you get the idea.

I think the cost is pretty minor, isn't it?

This was inspired specifically by 1) witnessing multiple (mild!) complaints from physician members who had tried and failed to find other guild members to come help out at the hospital, 2) recalling several past conversations discussing guild 'paging systems' that allow PCs to contact hard-to-reach guild members (like for people looking for confession from a priest) without repeated, unanswered messengers and 3) personal memories of being irritated by lack of response from messengers which makes them 'cost' more than their silver price (though especially when you're starting out, 10 silver adds up pretty quick)!

If this isn't an acceptable solution or the problem it's trying to solve doesn't seem particularly heinous, I won't cry! I will still prefer IC communication for IC issues and whatever makes it less of a drag to use, I'll try to promote.

It certainly would help. I know that for a freeman 20 silver to send for the entire guild is almost a months wages! imagine a busy week where they had to send 2, plus having to eat!

In so far as general messengers go, I guess that I'm generally of the opinion that Freemen can't afford such things for a reason (ie, they're more likely to -be- messengers than to use them.)

But I do think a lower cost for internal guild messengers would be appropriate.

Another thing that I'm not shy around doing is giving an expense account to my guildleaders for messengers, mails and other job required things that I spend money on.
