Amidst rumors of a new priest being given the Curateship (head) of the
Southside Chapel and Saint Bacca's Chapel on the South Road, posters have
started to fly -- tacked to notice boards and walls where convenient:
Donations Called For!
Father Reid Quinn, Curate of the Lithmorran Southside, bids you donate
generously to renovate the Southside Chapel to provide a clean, safe place
south of Park Street to worship our Lord. Every silver helps this cause!
An initial budget for renovation has been set at forty-five gold pieces;
excess will be applied in other charitable Southside projects. Donations
can be made by parcel, or by direct transfer to the account of the
Curateship.
(OOC: pay Reid (help pay) or mail packaged money! )

The continual snowstorm that has swept Lithmore shows no signs of
abating at this point. Though it's usually fallen in lighter amounts, the
sheer bulk of it is beginning to become problematic, particularly to the
poorer citizens of the city.
Reports are coming in of deaths in Southside and even the less wealthy
parts of Northside - isolated or homeless individuals being found frozen in
the street under the sheer weight of the snow. The Almshouses, both South
and North, appear to be stretched to their maximum occupancy; other
charitable organizations report similar difficulty, even for less
impoverished citizens. Keeping homes warm in the onslaught of the
continual snowfall, as well as in the continual bracing wind, is becoming a
challenge for all but the wealthiest in Lithmore.
Some murmurs begin to talk of infernal influences, perhaps a remnant of the
demonic attacks that swept the city throughout the summer and fall. Rumors
of the snow muddling the minds of those who spend too long in it are being
traded with increasing credence...

In the early months of the New Year, word came from the Madison Hospital
that Shaylei de Roldan, its long-time Prime Medicus, was officially
resigning from her role. Reasons cited were that the Prime, now in the
late months of an advanced pregnancy, was made too ill by her condition to
continue on in an official capacity, and planned to spend the final stage
of her term in rest and recovery.

The city's orphans are suffering from a dire plight: lack of safe,
permanent housing.
Relocated in time, the orphans were not present when the Sisters of Saint
Celeste's Orphanage burnt down. However, their temporary accommodations at
a home confiscated due to its deceased owner's unenforceable will are
becoming increasingly problematic - both due to legal concerns and the fact
the home was not originally intended for such a purpose.
Given the unseasonal continuation of the snow that's been troubling
Lithmore for months, questions remain about what can be done for the
orphans to keep them safe and warm...

Early in the morning on Februarius 27, word began to spread that there
would be two new marches in the Kingdom of Lithmore, the first time such a
change had happened since the March of Edessa was added and then removed.
Located in Farin, the twin Marches have been carved out of the Border
March, a traditionally Crown-controlled area that has long been the staging
ground and defensive point for the realm. The Crown is likely doing this
in an effort tovbetter organize the defenses of the realm and concentrate
forces guarding each pass between Farin and Daravi in a manner similar to
the Barony of Cort.
While no names have been given for the nobles being given the new domains,
it is rumored that they will be given to decorated members of the Knights
Lithmorran as is a tradition with the Border March. The office of the
Regent has revealed that the northern half of the border march shall be
named Bastion. The southern half shall be named Persela in honor of the
late Regent Herazade, whose family name was Persela.

In light of the long and keep cold and rising snow levels, workers have
begun to take to the river to break up any ice that has formed, while
others are clearing out the drains and sewers in an effort to keep the
infastructure flowing smoothly. Rumors also circulate that sandbags are
being put together in case of flood once the snows begin to eventually melt
and any volunteers who want to help with the efforts are more than
welcome.

Many attempts to help the displaced orphans of Lithmore seem to already
be underway.
The Holy Order placed notice it is soliciting the help of willing citizens
to coordinate reconstruction and reoccupation of the orphanage as well as
willing donors to the project and persons willing to house the orphans in
the interim.
A potential answer to the Order's call might be found in the announcements
rising from other quarters. The Troubadours held a general conclave, led
by apprentice Tuan Sugiyama, that asked members of the various guilds of
Lithmore to consider taking orphans in. While official responses are still
pending, some say that members of the Reeves appeared to accept the task of
organization with gusto.
Whether these disparate efforts can be brought together into one whole is
yet to be seen, but the future of Lithmore's orphans is already looking
better than it did a scant few days ago.
