the ringleader could not be pinpointed.

Zumini's approval shifts from Neutral to Approved.
Following the death of Hotae Prevos, word has begun circulating through the
Northside markets of Lithmore in approval of Earl Marshall de Moradar's
leadership: that, despite his renowned temper, sir de Moradar was
succeeding in his sworn duty to bring dangerous mages to the pyre, in
protection of the kingdom. A trader recently come from the Great North
Road of Vandago was thought to be the source, who cited word in the
Northside's taverns about the recent cleansing and tireless efforts of the
Earl Marshall and his knights.

Early in the morning, the Grand Inquisitor called everyone to River
Square. There, she led out a recently-appointed acolyte of the Holy Order,
Saki Nazari. She stated that this man was a heretic following the Path of
Fire, as well as a confessed mage. When given the chance to speak a few
last words, all he said was "Beware the wilds." The cleansing took place
without incident.

In the wake of the Blackest Day and a winter that wouldn't stop,
Lithmore has recently discovered itself to be standing on the precipice of
another potential danger: a long, lean winter. With unnatural snows late
into the year and demons keeping merchant deliveries at bay, the city went
through far more of their food stores than is normal. Ever since,
deliveries and harvests have been struggling to catch up with dwindling
supplies rather than making much headway. Rumor has slipped out that
without a strong harvest, there won't be enough food for the coming winter.
Portions of the city seem on the verge of panic, declaring that the
shortage was never going to be officially announced and it is surely the
poor that will be starving. Food prices threaten to rise, and hoarding of
rations has begun, some incidents going so far as violence and theft.
Others are more level-headed and stress that something needs done now - the
upcoming harvest and the end of the trading season will be key, and word
suggests that things may already be in motion.

In the morning, the Grand Inquisitor came out of Ahalin tower, carrying
a bloody form over her shoulder. Her own movements seemed slowed by an
energy of some kind. For the man's part, he looked a mess. With open
fractures on his knees, blood and exposed muscle seen in almost every part
of the man's body. Some of his fingers were branded with something carved
in to the bed of the finger, beneath the nails. The Grand Inquisitor
announced that this man's crimes were magery, heresy, and a hate for both
the Lord and Order. When she gave the man a few last words, he made some
veiled threats against one Verrin Jeweler. The cleansing aside this, went
off with out incident.

In the face of looming food shortages, Lithmore has rallied and her
neighbors have answered the call for more shipments of food. The Baroness
Margaux le Rousselle has taken an organizing position at court, sending
letters across the realm to all manner of the nobility, and they have
answered. Her own barony of Crestley has sent food towards Lithmore, and
other domains have directed their food stores for sale towards Lithmore, or
they have lowered taxes to encourage others to do so. Rapostra, Savir,
Vees, Lyndale, Macosta, Batarostra, and Upper Gerdain are all among those
participating. The guilds too have been doing their part. Rumors have a
large amount of food being hastened towards Lithmore by the Merchant's
Guild and the Physician's Guild has been working at stockpiling to help the
situation.
However, tensions are still high. Prices continue to rise on food as
people are willing to pay it. The poor cry out that they haven't received
any of this food, and the actions of the influential folk of Lithmore
surely indicates that the situation is that dire. The Reeves standing
guard at the granaries and storehouses are beset by weeping women with
empty grain sacks, pleading that they need food for their poor starving,
lame children - the tales grow more exaggerated with each passing moment.
The fact that the winter has not yet arrived seems lost on those panicking,
and the normal course of behaviors is given hardly a thought; those who
would normally be content with the food they have now are convinced their
death is imminent. Some have apparently turned to banditry with at least
one incoming caravan set upon by thieves within sight of Lithmore's walls.
And so continues Octobris...

The Judicial Council of the Reeves announced today that Lady Brynieve de
Versin would be stepping down from her position as Justiciar of the Realm.
The reason cited was time constraints due to her new duties as Countess of
Vees. She offered thanks to her stalwart supporters through her tenure as
Justiciar, as well as to the dutiful work of the Reeves of the Lithmore
Office and the rest of the realm through the difficulties the Captiol and
Kingdom have suffered. She is confident that through the spirit of
cooperation forged in those trials, Lithmore will see Justice and peace
prevail.

On the evening of Solisda, Octobris 15, 366, His Grace Tomas ab Jinosa
issued a statement concerning the rumored food shortages:
People of Lithmore, there have been many rumors going around about the food
shortages, some have noted the presence of the Queen's guard in greater
numbers around the granaries, others have heard of increased shipments to
our area. With the recent troubles of the extended period of night and
then the demonic activity with the Gateway Crisis there has been a concern
amongst members of the court and guild leadership that this winter could be
a particularly hard one.
Letters have gone out to the various nobles of our kingdom as well as to
the Magnates through the Merchants Guild, requesting aid in the form of
additional shipments of food that can help us ward against too lean a
winter. The Royal Seneschal, Baroness Margaux le Rousselle and Grand
Magnate, Emma ab Courtland have both in particular been of a great help in
organizing these efforts, though the list of those who have helped is too
long to name all.
There are rumors of citizens turning to bandits to attack these caravans.
Please remember that banditry is not only illegal, but sinful as well.
Those who are found to be preying upon these relief caravans will suffer
the toughest of punishments for their banditry during this time of crisis.
These goods will be distributed to those who need it as fairly as possible,
as was done previously when our trade lines were hit by the magical bandits
before. We endured that and we will endure this.
This is again, a precaution against the worst, for we won't know until the
last of the harvest is done. In the meantime we ask that all citizens of
the city and its surrounding areas begin preparing for the winter, taking
care to ration their supplies and mindful that this could be a hard winter.
The Queen's Guard will be watching over and protecting our winter stores to
ensure that they are safe and aid in the fair distribution of food with the
Merchants Guild and Court.
Any citizens who wish to help, including any hunters who wish to bring
their extra meat in and donate it to the cause, please contact The Grand
Magnate, Emma ab Courtland who will help see the food stored for the
future, preferably food that has been salted and preserved.
We have endured much worse hardships than this as a people and with these
efforts I have every faith that we will be able to avoid this being as bad
a winter as it might otherwise have been. Lord bless Lithmore and us all.
