I guess this isn't a bug, but is working as intended. However, I think that how it is working right now is a bit out of sync and unbalanced. I've got a Damascus sword that seems to like to drop down in durability rather quickly from Excellent to good. So quickly in fact that yesterday I was attacked by a crocodile and I swung my sword once before it died to those who were with me. This was the first time I had used the sword since it was newly repaired, so it was at Excellent. That one hit dropped it down to good.
Now good is still good yes, but that one hit cost me 8 gold to repair. And it's been going on for a while. I've not noticed my other steel weapons reacting in this way, or even my bow. My bow lasted more than one hit before it went from excellent to good. If Damascus is supposed to be some of the strongest stuff in the game and given it's price, I think that the durability of Damascus really needs to be looked at. I don't think it should be breaking down this quickly.
