A Comfortable Room
[Perfect]
A plethora of gaily coloured silk pillows with fringes and tassels
completely conceal the floor. A large pillow in the corner stands out, a
brooding black mass of velvet and fringeless. Screens of nature scenes
painted with the spare strokes of a brush that hint at and outline the
subjects, leaving much to the imagination. Behind the screens, silk
curtains and sheets painted with bright patterns hide the walls, pulled
back only around the windows that pierce the southern and western walls to
look out over a lush garden filled with an untamed riot of plants and
trees.

Kinaed says, "Last week, I was barely here. I worked 51.5 hours, had yoga instructor training from 9am to 6pm on Saturday, and decided to take my kids out to the movies in my spare time."


Kinaed states, "The most I did on TI was log in and ask other staff to do things for me, which they very kindly did - so thanks, guys."


Kinaed states, "Oh, I think asked Az to reformat the 'affects' and 'status' menus to combine them."


Kinaed claims, "So if you type either 'affect' or 'status', it should be prettier."


Temi claims, "People were bringing that up with happy delights."

Temi nods at Kinaed.


Kinaed claims, "On my plate (in your future sometime) roles spec (still just looking for a nice interface) and automated jail."

Kinaed claims to Temi, "Oh, that's so good to hear."



Kinaed pontificates, "And that's me. Azarial, you're up!"


Azarial says, "Mostly chewed on the disease spec for when the health metric is low, plus a few bugs"

Kinaed asks of Azarial, "How far along are we in terms of being able to turn on our "seneschal" and city metric voting this week?"


Azarial says, "The voting is in and waiting."


Kinaed says, "That's awesome."


Toroni says OOCly, "How is that going to work?"


Azarial says, "The seneschal flagging is for the rest of the cit metric stuff, of which, iirc, the diseases and random magic are waiting."


Azarial states, "I need to eyeball the smack talking threads to see if I can get those progs written."


Kinaed says, "Okay, guys - this is how it will work. Caitrin is going to get coronated today, and we'll write an IC Event post."

Temi says, "I have a full explanatory speech written for her on the IC 'why' stuff, as a part of the coronation."


Kinaed states, "On the smack tlak threads - thank you those who have contributed. I haven't read them yet, but I intend to do so soon and award the players who assisted."

Kinaed states, "Once the speech is written and ICly released, we will turn on the Seneschal "voting" code. It's not a vote per se, it uses support to measure the influence a character has gathered. If you want
to be Seneschal, you need to NOMINATE yourself."

Kinaed asks of Azarial, "The command is still bid, right? "Bid nominate <name>"?"


Azarial says, "Yup."


Margaux questions, "What are the eligibility requirements for the role?"


Kinaed says, "Once the bids go into affect, game-wide players can see who is running to become sensechal."


Kylar states, "Everyone but barbarians, I believe."


Azarial claims, "16+, not a abrbarian"


Kinaed questions, "GLs can run?"


Azarial claims, "They will be de-gled if they win"


Kinaed states, "I'm fine if they can, just confirming because I don't remember the decision"

Margaux queries, "Will it impact things like dualguilding? I'm guessing it is part of guild code?"


Toroni questions, "So, if gl runs, they leave guild?"


Kinaed claims, "I think they have to win, Toroni."


Kinaed claims, "Pretty sure anyone can run."


Toroni claims, "If they win rather"


Temi queries, "And GL position, not guild, I think?"


Azarial says, "You lose all porior guilding when votd into office"


Temi says, "Ah."

Kinaed states, "I -think- you can dual guild, but people who ARE dual guilded can't."


Azarial says, "Dual guilding gls is still not recommended."


Kinaed says, "Ahh. I think we need to hash that out a bit better."


Temi claims, "Anyway, this will be the first time on this, so we thank you all for your patience with any bumps the first go round."

Temi grins.


Kinaed claims, "Regardless, staff will return the Seneschal to their guild after their time in office is over."

Kinaed nods at Temi.


Toroni questions, "So, best for gls not to run?"



Temi claims, "Unless they want to be replaced as GL."

Temi nods.


Kinaed says, "It's fine if they do, provided they don't mind stepping down if they win - but yes, I'd recommend GLs not running as that's a role it'd be hard to return you to if someone else takes it in your
absence."

Kinaed nods at Temi.

Toroni nods.


Kinaed says, "Being the Seneschal will come with a few spiffy benefits, such as access to the city metric voting status, a sweet weekly income and an office in the Town Hall."


Toroni muses, "What's their job?"


Temi states, "Helping coordinate within city issues."
Lashianaa is idle.


Kinaed claims, "A Seneschal's term of office is 2 IC years (6 OOC months), barring if they go inactive, in which case it'll be shorter. Their job is to ensure that the City Metrics go the best way for the city."

Snefru muses, "Can they be forced out of office before then?"

Kinaed muses to Azarial, "They're subject to ousting, aren't they?"


Temi says, "Well, if nothing else, being deaded usually does a good job of that."

Kinaed says, "Okay, if you're a Seneschal wanna be, the way to get elected is to curry favor (ie, get more supporters than anyone else)"


Toroni says OOCly, "So, question is intire court setup being changed now with the queen being put in place?"

Evrald questions, "Can a Charali ever become a Seneschal? Or are we too horrible?"

Kinaed states to Cellia, "Good question, I'll review help precedence also, but I think it'll rank amongst the lower tiers of nobility."


Margaux nods. "I'm drawing the focus back for NewCourt. Announcements will go out to court members post coronation.


Cellia nods her head to Kinaed.


Kinaed claims, "I think Second Tier, 2 or 3 as per HELP PRECEDENCE. I'll talk it through with staff and update that today."

Cellia queries, "Sorry, when are bids due by?"

Kinaed asks of Azarial, "1 week or 2 weeks of RP?"


Azarial states, "One ooc week for nominations, two for the campaign for vots, 180 days in power"

Kinaed exclaims to Cellia, "Great question, it's been so long since we had one, I can't remember!"


Azarial states, "Baring death or dismembership."


Azarial says, "Starting form when the bids are opened"


Cellia muses, "Are votes one per person, or does the relative rank of the person supporting you matter?"


Azarial claims, "One per, right off hand"


Kinaed states, "It's not a vote - it's support, and therefore yes, their rank and positioning and backing matter."


Margaux pontificates, "Let the hunger games begin! (totes not NewCourt's motto)"


Kinaed trails off, "Okay, let me just have a quick look at our recent updates, because we're probably going to spill over timewise if I don't..."

Temi states to Margaux, "Well, you would look good in a capital hair-do."

Kylar grins at Margaux.


Kinaed states, "Okay, I don't see anything further. Temi, you're up. :)"


Margaux trails off, "I would rock that. I we get a bunch of peasants, lease out the Vandagan stadium..."


Temi states, "Okay! So, there's this little coronation event I've been working on."


Kinaed snickers.

Kylar laughs.

Temi claims, "Event today, about an hour after OOC chat to give everybody time to change and gather"

Gothan pontificates, "I don't have any clothes! Oh no!"


Temi claims, "This one will be public access, subject to the regular palace search and seizure, and will be ceremony, followed by open court, followed by ball."


Toroni needs to scrounge together an outfit


Kylar questions, "Haa... maybe make it an hour and a half after?"


Temi says, "Tomorrow I will be holding another, private event for court members and nobles, as a more intimate little thing"

Margaux states to Toroni, "Time to arrest a suspicious-looking partygoer and steal his clothes."


Temi says, "Nothing important, just mingling."


Kylar declaims, "Lucky nobs!"


Temi claims, "And over this past week we've had the party tents"


Temi declares, "Hopefully you guys have been enjoying those!"


Evrald states, "I need time to... find some soap."


Evrald states, "Must look my best for the event."

Temi asks, "Do you want me to leave them open for a couple days after the coronation, or is everybody good on that RP now?"


Temi says, "Okay, I'll close those up late tonight or sometime tomorrow then, since it doesn't sound like too much urgency"


Penn muses, "Can someone explain the search and seizure?"



Toroni says OOCly, "Sort of here, podcasting at the moment"

Temi says, "When you go into the palace, there's an xblock that stops you and you have to 'accept palace search and seizure'"


Kinaed says, "Not everyone gets it, but most people will if they're not a member of Court."


Kinaed states, "Basically, IC guards pat you down and take your stuff."


Temi states, "It basically just confirms that you recognize you don't have any weapons or other suspicious things available on your person, unless you have done RPA with the staff to smuggle them in"


Kinaed claims, "To enter the palace court, you need to agree that has happened ICly."

Kinaed nods at Temi.


Temi says, "You can keep them OOCly so we don't have to deal with it, just not ICly available"


Kinaed claims, "So if you want to have a dagger, contact Temi."

Kinaed says to Ellette, "Yes."


Alesdair questions, "So only court members? No one else is allowed?"


Temi states, "Only ICly. OOCly you'll still have them."


Ellette asks "Okay got it. So we unequip and don't reference them?"

Temi nods at Ellette.

Kinaed states to Alesdair, "Everyone can enter court, just most of the public will be searched by guards and have weapons/suspicious items seized off their person."

Galen trails off, "I won't be able to attend today's event unless it's still going on four hours from now..."

Kinaed comforts Galen.


Temi states, "The ball probably will be."

Kinaed states to Galen, "I suspect it will."

Margaux pontificates to Galen, "Come for the dancing!"


Kinaed states, "Okay, that's Temi."


Temi claims, "I hope the open court isn't... but I wouldn't be too surprised."

Kinaed wonders to Xinoe, "Can you give us an update?"


Galen states, "I think I was invited to the event tomorrow though but I'm not entirely sure"

Xinoe declaims, "This week I helped fight back the rising tide of typos and requests. Art is still my top priority but I wanted to set it aside completely to cut the wait time on smaller projects while we've
been understaffed. As our new staff members settle in I'll get back to it, and may be looking for some help from players to spot any little errors within the art craft soon. And that's me for this week!"

Kinaed nods at Xinoe.


Toroni says OOCly, "So, can we put weapons away to avoid it?"


Galen states, "What I gather is that you can codedly carry the weapon but you can't have or use it IC."

Kinaed says to Toroni, "No, you can only avoid it with RPA."


Kylar states, "So excited for art."

Kinaed nods at Galen.


Ellette reckons she should leave her armour at home and do a mad dash to find some kind of formal clothing.

Kinaed states to Toroni, "Can you take further questions regarding the search and seizure to tells with Temi? It's 8:40am my time, so I need to move the chat along or we'll blow out a lot. Thanks :)"


Margaux states, "I'm happy to answer any questions on S&Seizure via tells if there are any queries."

Remy declaims, "Just getting adjusted! Helping where I can, mostly with requests and posting tons of IC events in a (hopefully) timely manner. Temi is helping me get comfortable with getting plots processed, so
I'll hopefully be dealing with those without so many questions soon!"

Kinaed says to Remy, "Thanks. I hope you don't mind that I'm trying to power through staff updates quickly. :)"


Remy says, "A lot of curt nods and vague agreement to what I suggested."

Kinaed says to Zabris, "Welcome, Zabris! You're up. Please introduce yourself and give us any updates from your side, particularly what you plan to work on soon."


Zabris says, "Hi! This week I ascended to the TI heavens - thanks for having me, all. Still getting settled in and figuring out the flow. Also I made a crown cake. Next week I will be tackling the Typo board and
starting to help with building stuff."

Margaux states to Remy and Zabris, "Excited to have you both onboard up in staff land. "

Kinaed claims, "I should note that I'm interviewing two more potential staff members today. By next OOC Chat, we expect to potentially have one more staff member."

Margaux says, "I've mostly been taking a breather this week ahead of what I expect to be a busy few weeks of TI stuff. The RP I've had has been very good though. :)"

Remy states, "Looked like there was a pretty big tent event last night. I didn't get a chance to check on the RP, but I'm sure it was good."


Hunapo states, "The RP has been good but slow for the most part."


Kinaed questions, "Anyone partake of the coronation tents and celebrations?"


Penn claims, "Only had a chance to play a day last week, but went really well! Thanks, those who visited the Crow's Nest to welcome Isla and Penn. :)"



Gothan says, "Pretty good! Gothan made it to Squire this week, so developing his character quite nicely."

Asala claims, "Thanks to everyone who came to the little impromptu event I held last night. It was my first one, so hopefully it was alright."

Ellette says "I returned to my duties after nearly a week of hermitting from rp. Been enjoying some of the guild rp on an alt now too getting to experience southside has been great!

Temi says, "The colosseum is staying. There's also an arena party tent which will go."

Kinaed states to Toroni, "Did someone blow it up or something? Otherwise, I don't see why it would."


Margaux states, "We're selling it to the Daravi."

Toroni queries, "Wait.. am I confusing it with the tent?"

Kinaed questions, "Oh, the event happened in the tent, not the colosseum?"


Asala states, "That's where the tournament was, since it was for the Coronation."

Temi states, "But the colosseum will continue to be there for more such events."


Kinaed ahhs, "Ahh well. Reminder then, folks: A colosseum exists in the Vandagan quarter, check it out sometime if you like gladiator fights."

Margaux says, "Someone needs to run on a blood and circuses ticket for seneschal."

Toroni says, "Ok so this is a quick one.. I have begun deguilding chars, that have not showed up.. if you have an alt in the order, please, please, please bring them around, or let me know you intend to keep
them. also. I am working to work with people in jail. but I'm running in to walls sometimes where I can't act on cases do to waiting on rpa this is a general reminder I will of course put cases first and jailed
pcs first, but sometimes, it takes time for rpa depending on what is done ic"

Toroni claims, "Ug.. need to find a merch, to find something deacent for inquisitor"


Remy says, "Hopefully with a healthy dash of political subterfuge"

Kinaed states, "This is a big shift in gameplay for TI, folks. I hope it is a positive one. But there's a chance that it won't be, or may need some tweaking."

Kinaed says, "Please don't bury your discontent and walk away if this whole city metric and Seneschal experience doesn't pan out well, let us know. It may take some time to adjust the system until it feels
great."


Temi says, "Wear your best, but we won't be turning people away for looking like commoners. There'll be a big gathering section for any-old-looky-looks"

Temi says, "There's not really a council"


Kinaed says, "There is no City Council as a body per se. Basically, the GLs and all of the nobles can 'vote' weekly for a city metric."


Toroni states, "I think, tor had something in his room, but unsure if it was, ment for males, or not"


Kinaed says, "They loosely form a 'city council' though they don't have to meet or anything."


Gothan buys armor really quickly so he can fit in with Ellette and look pretty.


Cellia queries, "Is there any incentive for non-Tenebrae people to vote down metrics?"


Azarial states, "So that another metric goes up"

Kinaed says, "When they vote, it will create a tally for which city metrics will be affected what way, with a small bit of randomness thrown in. The Senschal is basically responsible for watching the vote and
making sure things go 'the best way possible' or even 'their way' or the way of 'whomever is bribing him/her the most'"

Margaux states to Cellia, "It is a zero sum game. So there are say, 400 points in the metric system, and everyone will have their own special interests."

Kinaed claims, "If you type City Report, you can see the current status of the City Metrics. Depending on where they sit at the end of the week, in-game modifiers will happen, like if infrastructure is poor, it
will take you longer to walk place to place."


Alesdair says, "Although weekly sounds a bit too frequent."


Kinaed says, "If health is poor, people may start getting diseases/sick."


Temi says, "It's a concern, but we'll see how it feels in practice"

Temi nods at Alesdair.


Kinaed claims, "That sort of thing."


Cellia claims, "Agreed, but I think that the number of characters who have an interest in law being high will much outweigh those otherwise."

Alesdair questions, "Why didn't monthly or fortnightly work?"


Kinaed says, "We felt it'd be easier to go from weekly to fortnightly than fortnightly to weekly."


Toroni muses, "To kinaed so, gls will vote on issues? I'm confused"


Cellia states, "And that did not make any sense, but hopefully the gist got across"


Kinaed claims, "Also, Az - note that we should only kick off the city metrics when we have a seneschal in place."


Margaux says, "Every guild receives more money based on their tied-metric being high."

Temi claims to Cellia, "Yup, but all those people also have other concerns too. Nobody in a vacuum."

Kinaed states to Toroni, "They're not voting on issues, they vote which City Metric they are focusing their attention on that week."

Cellia queries, "How will anybody ever justify voting down the Order to the seneschal?"

A Comfortable Room
[Perfect]
A plethora of gaily coloured silk pillows with fringes and tassels
completely conceal the floor. A large pillow in the corner stands out, a
brooding black mass of velvet and fringeless. Screens of nature scenes
painted with the spare strokes of a brush that hint at and outline the
subjects, leaving much to the imagination. Behind the screens, silk
curtains and sheets painted with bright patterns hide the walls, pulled
back only around the windows that pierce the southern and western walls to
look out over a lush garden filled with an untamed riot of plants and
trees.
